now i am apaled by all the fans of pokemon saying digimon is just a "rip off" im sure most of these people just take one glance at the mon in the name and think that only becuase they haven't given it a chance. i enjoy both and i can say digimon is no rip off only thing in common is the mon and the transforming monsters. digimon is something i can view as a series anime were there is a sence of urgency and drama becuase there is real problems like getting killed wile in pokemon if ash loses it dosnt reallly do much unless its the pokemon leuge i see the digimon as actual charecters they all have personality and well... they can speak its tells a more complex story about a crisis in the digital world instead of some kid catching creatures and battling them the digimon fight to protect their freinds. pokemon has also become nothing more than a nintendo cash cow to me, yet i feel digimon still has heart, tell me your opinion.

I too am a fan of both series and back then i did see digimon as a rip off of pokemon. Im older now and see that isnt the case because digimon really did focuse more on story. Though i will say this though my only problem with digimon is that i feel that comments of it being a rip-off of pokemon got to it because they tried so hard to be diffrent. When they started showing kids turning into digimon i stopped watching. I loved the idea of a human and a digimon joining forces and becoming friends over the course of time... thats how i feel at least.

The only thing wrong with what you said is Pokemon is not a cash cow for nintendo. Pokemon was a video game before it was a tv show, so the creators hadn't planned on making a show. If anything, the TV show is a cash cow for Warner Brothers and Cartoon Network. I agree with what wokey said. Digimon was great until the season where the kids started turning into digimon. That was rubbish and that's what killed the show.

wello actually i did watch all the episodes to frontier (the on were the kids turned yes) and its not that bad.. you see by doing that they were able to have more all around charecter devolopment and the kids all got to devolope, and i wasnt necesarily saying in the show and merchandise was making pokemon a cash cow but some of these ideas seem stupid or atleast to me (triple battle, double battle is were it should have stopped thats half a team -__-) and they started re using alot of the animals but i guess you cant really complain there.... only so many animals on the planet y'know?

I agree that Digimon is distinctly unique. That being said, I think Pokemon is better. I did watch the first 2 seasons of Pokemon, but then I lost interest. I made to about season 4 or 5 with pokemon before losing interest.

Im not saying the season that had humans turning into digmon was bad... i never saw enough to have a clear opinion of it. All im saying is that if your going to change the formula dont go far away from what people loved about it. For me it was a digimon and a human joining forces and creating a bond over time... but maybe thats just me

I stopped watching Digimon because I lost interest in how they related and had a connection to their digimon season 4 onward. I was into other things at the time. I still love the older seasons though.

Wow can't believe the digimon vs pokemon debate still exist in this decade lol.Digimon isn't a rip-off of Pokemon. Digimon was based off of Tamagotchi. I do agree that the only similarity is the "mon". I'm a huge fan of Digimon(well the the first 2 seasons). I'm not going to lie when it first came out I though it was a clone of pokemon, but I realized that it was different. They could talk and after they digivolved, they changed back. Plus each character was really likable to me. I watched all 4 four seasons and saw some of 5(which is trash to me)so i stopped watching digimon after that. Putting that aside, die-hard pokemon fans and Digimon fans should stop bashing each other cause both have good qualities. I also agree too that both suck now.

well actually the digimon games (how little of them there are) are still alright and fun and the sixth season is in japan and ive watched some subs i actually like it ^^ but ya the resent digimon season was garbage
