So what would you do in the following situation?

You have known this guy for 10-12 years as you went to high school together and now you're in your 20's (28 to be exact) and ever since you met him way back when you life has never been the same.

At the grade 12 graduation he asked you to promise him the last dance. You did but bolted before you got to dance. For what reason we will never know or remember but none the less that's what you did. 5 years later over Christmas break you are dead bored because everyone is gone away for the holidays. This was long before Facebook arrived on the scene so you had Hi5.

As a means of late night entertainment, you click randomly through public profiles. This goes on for about 2 hours as it's late and you lost track of time. You see him, this guy you crushed on back in high school and so you send a harmless message, 'Hey you, looking good.' and leave it at that for the night.

The next day you get a response saying that he madly had a crush on you in high school and still does and can't believe you messaged him and he wants to see you again.

You go and see him because you're single and yeah you still totally crush on him. You meet and sparks fly. You are undoubtedly perfect for one another. Things carry on like a dream for a few weeks but then, one stumbling block steps in your way. You find out that you both agree in everything except life philosophies. One is a creationist, the other is an evolutionist. Utter heart break. So, you stop seeing each other.

A few months pass by maybe even a year and he messages you again, saying he had no idea why you split and that he wants to see you again. You're heart is a flutter and so of course you are still single so you go and see him. A second time, sparks are even stronger than the time before. But you both still hold your same philosophical positions. This goes on for a few weeks and again you go your separate ways. There are never any ill harboured feelings toward one another but utter heart break steps in once again.

A few months maybe a year passes by yet again and you are now living in England and he is back in Canada. You are now on each others Facebook and you post a comment on a photo of him and his niece. This triggers a 6 month + message/note/tag conversation with one another but of course you are in separate countries. He says he desperately can't wait for you to get home and you say that you will be back when your visa runs out. The conversation you have is never out of sync and he is totally vulnerable and honest with you about something tragic that happens. You are by his side the whole time.

When you get back to Canada he meets you at the airport and you are so desperate to see him that you have a perma smile. You then commence dating. It's bliss and you never have anything to fight about. You finish each others sentences and are so perfectly in sync. You know each other perfectly and then on Valentine's day he plans something special (a few months since you started dating). The big day arrives and he completely stands you up. You are so shocked that you can't even shed a tear. It feels like someone has ripped your soul out. He tries to explain he forgot and totally dropped the ball.

You forgive him and as a means to make him know he is forgiven, you buy him tickets to see his favourite hockey team live. You think all is well but 2 weeks after that game you are again no longer talking. He doesn't message you or explain why.

A new man comes into your life and says he likes you so you make a decision to start seeing him. No explanation from the other man.

2 years pass by and you have a minor break up with this rebound guy so you try and contact the other guy again. You plea that you are right for one another and he says, he's not sure how you would raise a family together with different philosophical outlooks. He says it doesn't break his brain to think this logically but it absolutely breaks his heart that he loves you and has to feel this way. He says you are like Batman and Wonder Woman (who never really had a thing, but it's neat to think about). That he knows it will never work based on that. So you let it go and get back together with the other guy.

Then several months pass by and you are sill hung up on him and cannot get him from your mind. You dream about him and love him in spite of all of that so you do everything you can to forget him. Delete him from Facebook, erase all pictures and memories of him but still you dream about him even more. You bump into him and see him walking down the street as you drive by. You love him and cannot forget him even after 10 or so years.

What do you do?

Rachelle : I feel like I've been in that situation before, although for half as long. If you keep breaking up and going your separate ways then maybe that is a sign, and it is for a good reason. I stopped trying to do anything about it, besides grieve for the relationship, and try to come to terms with the fact that it did not work and there's nothing I can do to change our differences.

legacyme3 : Threatened in what sense? For the most part I agree, yes. But some people need to get over their fears of things they don't understand- Stop feeling threatened and acting defensive for no reason. Never seen them. Do you recommend them?

Margoth : Well, add me and I will add you back! There isn't really a list of "requirements" to get on to my friends list, if I'm close enough with someone I will certainly add them. But that doesn't always happen, hence a lot of strangers are on my friends list who I haven't added back.

I reccomend watching one of them, they aren't overly incredible, but they are ok movies, at least better than snakes on a plane.

UserMike : The Tidy Monster video is really interesting. I watched it twice just to catch all of what he was saying. I like the top rated comment, the analyzation that the voice is trying to censor or keep his hallucinations/psychedelic trip at bay. It reminds me of poetry except it's a visual/audio experience instead of just reading a poem.

The white noise is also interesting, I didn't know Youtube videos could play for 12 hours! I often listen to relaxing audio in order to fall asleep, usually the sound of the ocean, rain, or sometimes people reading out loud. It does help me a lot. If not that then I listen to the sound of my fishtank filter pouring water into the tank.

Right now I have a budgie (AKA parakeet), three tropical fish, a barn cat, and a hamster.

I am actually none of the above, overall I am a BIRD person! But out of those animals, I would choose cats. Not that I have anything against dogs (I really like them too) but I find cats are much easier for me to care for properly.

Definitely my hair. Strangers will tell me I should be in shampoo commercials, and when I first meet people they often comment on the length and/or colour of my hair. It sounds weird but probably nearly a hundred strangers have commented on my hair in the past few years~
