What is that one game you thought you would hate but you liked? A game you said you would never play, but when you actually did play it, you liked it a lot.

For me, it was Fortnite, I never thought I would like it, and I made fun of it until I actually played it. Another game would be Roblox, I used to hate it a lot, but then when I actually decided to play it, I did like it, until it became pure slop, now I don't play it, I have gone 2 years now lol. Geometry Dash was another game I didn't like until I actually played it, I'm not sure while I didn't like it, I used to think it was dumb or something.

I think there are a few more games, but I just can't think of them right now.

As I've been getting older I've stopped having biases/expectations against games and so I don't really go into something thinking I'll hate it anymore - if I see gameplay and assume I won't like a game then I just won't play it. Not enough time in the world to take risks on wasting it.

Speaking for the past though I certainly did have "agendas" against games that were proven wrong...

I'd say Celeste is one. I've never really been big on platformers nor indie games, but for some reason that game specifically pushes all the right buttons in my brain. I love how smooth and snappy the gameplay is, and the B and C sides were the exact perfect amount of challenging to me without treading into the game feeling aggravating or unfair.

A much older example, but I played Xenoblade Chronicles 2 back maybe like... a year after release? And I DESPISED that game man lol. I went in expecting to not like it, and I don't think I made it past Chapter 3. That game is one of the classic examples of very slow starters, and I was very intolerant to slow starts back then. Now, many years later I replayed it... it's not so much an issue and it's one of my favorite games now. lol I even want to play it a fourth time after the Switch 2 edition launched

I'm sure there are several others but those are probably my two biggest.

I used to think I wouldn't like League of Legends, back in highschool I woudln't play it with my friends.

Fast forward 5 years and I started playing it to play with a girl and I got extremely addicted to it and it became my main game for 3-4 years, and I still play it!

Probably Mina The Hollower. I only bought it because I kept seeing so many people talk about it. I wasn't planning on playing it since I'm not a fan of those kinds of games. I didn't love it, but I thought it was good and pretty fun in general.
