Toy story: Recon plan Charlie Execute!   FaithFighter
Well, well, well, where should I start on this game? This was another on e of my childhood favorites. Toy story was a great game in its own right, but perhaps made even better because it was based off the disney movie. This game is awesome! It took me forever to conquer! In fact, I actually wore out my original Super Nes before I could complete it. I had to wait until I was able to get a new one so that I could finally finish it! (Of course, if I knew about vizzed back then, I wouldn't have had to wait!) Anyways, enough with the introduction, on with the review!
Graphics: 9
I never knew some of the things that they did here could come out of the snes! Everything was just fantastic! The way characters moved and appeared, the graphics for you health and lives, just everything. Every level was unique, but at the same time, you could tell when you were in the same or different areas of the toy story world. There are so many graphical treats in here...even a first person maze! Yep that's right! First person! What's even better is that it looked awesome! My favorite graphics of all though were probably that for pizza planet! That was quite comical, walking inside a soft drink cup, while watching out for falling food and drink!
Sound: 9
Again, a well covered department. The music for the game was absolutely awesome, even after a few years of not playing this game, I can still remember the music from different levels pretty clearly! I loved when you were in the claw machine trying to protect buzz how the aliens always squeak when you go to throw them at the claw. It might sound like it would be annoying, but really, it isn't! Another good part for sound was when you are riding rex to get out of the house, I never knew he could stomp like that! Basically, I felt that there was only one flaw with the sound. Going back to the claw maching now. Whenever you're jumping around in there, it sounds like when you land at any other point in the game...shouldn't it sound a little different? Just my opinion, though.
Addictiveness: 10
Do you have any idea how many times I played this game? Even after completion, I started getting into speed running it, because I just had so much fun with it! Even now, I want to see how good I can do at it. So I really, don't think it gets much better than this!
Story: 8
The story is a good one, it follows the main story of the movie but has it's own little twist on a few scenes. For instance the part about riding on rex was a new addition, and last I looked Woody didn't battle buzz in a dream or lasso tires around him. But they are perfect tweaks for the game, just the same. My only disappointment is that they didn't have better cutscenes. I'm pretty sure that nintendo could have pulled at least something off besides showing you the words for the story. But at any rate, it's still good.
Depth: 9
A game that took me years to complete? Yep, I'd give it a nine. There are so many game elements and styles of gameplay to be found here. I already mentioned a couple things like the first person maze and riding on rex, but how about drivng an RC car to know buzz out of the way, or driving down the road with it? Here's one even better...We're flying! (Or is it falling--with style!) There's even more that I could mention for that, but I don't want to spoil the entire game after all! While there really is not much for collectibles, you do get to collect so many stars in a level, the more stars that you collect, the better your chances for extra lives and continues. Also, there is a scoring system based on how many stars you collected in the level.
Difficulty: 9
For me, this was obviously a tough game, at least in my younger years! Now, it's not nearly as tough, but don't underestimate the challenges that it can offer. Controlling that Rc car can be a bear, and sometimes, the grappling required for certain points in the game is just incredible. There's spots in the game that I still have not been able to successfully reach...even after all this time!
Overall: 9
In my opinion, Toy Story is truly a great game, in it's own time, and even now. It might not be in 3d for the entire game, but it has enough challenges and surprises to keep you playing for quite a long time! Thanks for reading!

Great movie, Great game.   RedHotToddy
Hello everybody, Today I am reviewing a game, a game from my early childhood, This game is toy story, It is based off of the CGI animated film of the same name. Now what we are going to be finding out is If the video game adaption of the hit blockbuster movie does the movie justice, does it? Let's find out!
Story-7/10
In a world where toys come to life, We see the average life of a young boy named Andy Davis, Andy has alot of toys that He has been collecting since god knows when, And he would hate to see them go, Some of these toys include Sherriff woody, Hamm the piggy bank, Rex the Dino, etc.  But then on Andy's birthday, he gets a rather special looking present, you see, this isn't just a present, this is a buzz lightyear action figure! He is an action figure that can shoot his laser and do a bunch of other crazy stuff, But then jealousy occurs when Andy begins to spend more time with buzz then one of his other toys, Sheriff woody, a cowboy doll. Buzz and woody begin fighting with eachother through the film but then truly realize the value of their friendship.
Gameplay-8/10
Toy story for the SNES is your typical platformer game, You control our hero woody through more then 10 big levels, defeating bad guys or doing other crazy stuff. Each level in the game has a certain objective to do, such as putting back toys in a toy chest in under a time limit, or just getting through the stage in onc piece like usual. Woody will be collecting various items, such as stars, hats, and other weird stuff, Collecting all stars in each level will give you a continue, and collecting hats gives you an extra life. Between levels there will be some bosses, but they are rare, there all only like 2 in the whole game. The controls are pretty simple, A is jump, And B is Attack, nothing special, But it is affordable. There are of course more levels then just the platforming ones, there are also levels where you control an RC car through the streets, and alot of more. Anyways, that is it for the gameplay.
Graphics-8/10
I will give the developers credit here, The game uses 3D silicon graphics much like Donkey Kong country, But Is that bad, No! The game's graphics look really nice detailed and colorful, as for the characters in the game look pretty recognizable, like woody, buzz, Rex, etc. Each of the many levels in this game are bursting with color and atmosphere, such as the claw machine world, or Sid's workbench. The game isn't the best looking game on the SNES, but it is still pretty great!
Sound-7/10
Probably my favorite part of the game, the soundtrack. The movie's soundtrack is somewhat squeezed into there, You do get two very amazing songs by randy Newman, Strange things and you got a friend in me, all in 16-bit glory. As for the soundtrack in the actual game, It is OK, Nothing to write home about though, as for the sound effects, they are just Eh, they are your typical cartoon sound effects, but that is not a bad thing.
Addictiveness-7/10
Is this a game I am going to play again! Of course, I don't really see a reason to put this game away after just a while, It has that charm that you don't see in licensed games.
Depth-6/10
The game is about 15 levels long, So It will probably take you about 2 hours to dash through the whole game in one sitting. I remember when I first beat this game, I still kept playing It again, because the game is fun, charming, and does the toy story franchise alot of justice.  That is a plus.
Difficulty-8/10
This is the highest point of the game, the difficulty level! I remembered dieing and dieing and dieing on Sid's workbench thousands of times as a kid! But otherwise, If you can get past these flaws, the game shouldn't give you that much trouble. In fact, looking at this game today, It is pretty easy!
Overall-8.1/10
If you need a good platformer on the SNES, I highly recommend you get toy story! I gave this game an 8.1 because how much fun, challenge and everything else It offers! So this has been RedHotToddy, and see you later!

A decent game based off a great movie   TheScarletSaiyan
The 1995 Pixar hit film Toy Story captivated audiences young and old with its computer-generated animation, bright colors, fun characters, and great writing. It makes sense that a blockbuster film like this one would have a game based off it, and sure enough, Disney Interactive released the Toy Story video game in 1995 for two different consoles: the Super Nintendo and the Sega Genesis. I have only played the SNES version, so this review will be only for that version, since I've seen game play for the Genesis one, and it does have some differences in game play and graphics. The Toy Story video game may not be groundbreaking, like the movie, but it is a decent game, and I would say it's worth picking up. The graphics are good, though not the best the SNES has to offer, the game play is pretty smooth, the stages are all uniquely designed, and the soundtrack is catchy.
The game basically follows the same plot as the movie: a cowboy doll named Woody is the leader of a group of toys that all belong to a kid named Andy, and Woody is Andy's favorite, up until Andy's birthday party, when he receives a new Buzz Lightyear action figure. Buzz becomes Andy's new favorite, and Woody, in an effort to reclaim his spot as Andy's favorite, accidentally sends Buzz flying out of Andy's bedroom window. Andy comes in to take Woody to Pizza Planet with him, but as Andy's mom drives off, Buzz hitches a ride and confronts Woody when Andy's mom stops for gas. The two fight and fall out of the car, and when Andy's mom drives off, Woody and Buzz try to find a way back home, which they have to do quickly, because Andy will be moving soon.
There are 17 stages in the game, and for most of them you will be controlling Woody. Woody can jump, duck, and swing his pullstring like a whip to not only stun enemies, but also to swing across certain gaps (like Simon Belmont in Super Castlevania IV). The controls aren't hard to get the hang of, and you can decide what buttons will make Woody jump or use his pullstring. Woody will have a health meter, which is shown by a star with a number on it. That number will always start off at 5, and goes down each time you get hit. If that number hits 0, you lose a life, and start off at the last checkpoint. You can also choose how many lives you have at the start of the game (from 2 to 6), and you can choose if you want to see the story cutscenes in between stages.
Sadly, the cutscenes in the game are pretty bland. I mean, when I was playing for the first time, I wasn't expecting ground-breaking cutscenes like in the NES game Ninja Gaiden, but this game's cutscenes are very weak for a game that came out 6 years after Ninja Gaiden. Basically, you see blue text that explains what's going on before each stage, and you get some pictures. For the intro cutscene, you get a 16-bit remix of the song "Strange Things" from the movie, which is catchy, but after that none of the other cutscenes have music. You just look at text and pictures on a dark background. And sometimes there are no pictures, it's just a dark background with blue text. Come on, Disney Interactive, you could have done better than that on the SNES.
Now, the stage design is pretty good, and the variation in game play is nice. In stage 5, you control the RC car, and have to drive around and try to knock Buzz under Andy's bed while trying not to crash into things (and make sure to collect batteries! If your fuel runs out, you start over!). In stage 8, Woody and Buzz face off in the gas station, and you have to literally "tire out" Buzz by whipping a tire with the pullstring so it will fall on Buzz, who will run at you and spin around like a maniac. And in stage 15, you ride on a Roller Bob skateboard toy and try to escape Sid's house while dodging missiles, soda cans, bombs, and Sid's dog, Scud. So yes, you will definitely have fun as you find yourself in many crazy situations.
The graphics in this game, like I said before, are good, even though they are not the best the SNES has to offer. It's just that, compared to Donkey Kong Country 2 and Yoshi's Island, which both came out in 1995, Toy Story's graphics seem a bit weak. Sometimes in the backgrounds you'll see the same stuff pass by over and over, like the bookshelves in Andy's room, or the posters in Sid's room. The backgrounds are good, but they aren't the best, and some of the sprites are a bit choppy as well, like Woody and Buzz's sprites. But the sprites for characters like Rex, Hamm, Mr. Potato Head, and Scud all look really good, so it's a mixed bag.
And the soundtrack for this game is pretty good, not the best, but still pretty good. The music for the fight with Buzz in stage 8 is catchy and really fits a fight between two rivals, the music when you escape Sid's house sounds fast-paced and frantic, and the music on the final stage, where you and Buzz fly on a rocket and try to catch Andy's mom's car while dodging traffic, is tense and gives you a feeling like "this is the last hurdle of the game".
There are some voices in this movie, like Woody yelling "ow!" when he gets hurt, or the Army men in stage 1 shouting "CODE RED! MOVE, MOVE, MOVE!". These voices are actually pretty good for their time, I have to admit. But what isn't good at all about this game, the biggest flaw if you ask me, is the ending. I mean, it's hard to expect a groundbreaking ending for a movie-based game, but the developers were clearly being lazy with the ending. You get some text and pictures (with no music), and then you get a message that says "WELL DONE YOU HAVE COMPLETED TOY STORY HOPE YOU ENJOYED IT THANKS FOR PLAYING". And then you get the credits.. with no music! Certainly the developers could have at least gave the game an ending theme, like the Genesis version, which also showed the cast of characters in the ending.
Well, all in all, Toy story is what any good game should be: fun. The game play is unique and enjoyable, the stage design is great, the challenge level is extremely high (trust me, this game is one tough cookie), and even a lame ending won't stop you from feeling satisfaction when you unite Woody and Buzz with Andy. If you love Toy Story and video games, then you should try this game out. It's not perfect, but it's still a lot of fun to play.

Guys, look at the title screen for this game and the sega master system title screen for this. WOODY HAS DIFFERENT EMOTIONS. Snes = Woody is mad, Genesis = Woody is smiling. Woody has a big dislike on the SNES, I guess.
