TMNT tournament fighters review SacredShadow
Overall: 9.5Another classic teenage mutant ninja turtles game, you can play as either one of the turtles as well as some other characters including war, chrome dome, aska, and even shredder himself!. The game is similar to street fighter in a way because of the stage and the abilities and setup like the health and the ability each character has when the bar is full, and even the location stage changes for each character. So in a way it is the tmnt version of street fighter, I scored the overall of the game a 9.5 because it is similar to a classic fighting game that is awesome and it is still unique and very fun to play. Graphics: 10Let's be honest here, the graphics are pretty awesome, this game's graphics are the best I think for any teenage mutant ninja turtle game, they are detailed and all the character sprites look really amazing too as well as the stage setup for each character too. I really like the sharp quality of the graphics for this game, they are excellent and hands down some of the best graphics for any tmnt game, so I scored them a perfect 10 because they are just that great. Sound: 10The music isn't cheesy I think the music sounds really great, the music here isn't like other arcade games where it is just the same repetitive music playing over and over. In fact it is like street fighter again because the music gets faster the more intense the battle gets. This music is unique and it is always different for each character's stage which is really cool. I really think the music for any game is a really good bonus because it gives an atmosphere for when you are playing that game and it makes it more fun to play versus a quiet background with no music at all which is really boring and not exciting to play, so I definitely think that music and the sound is a really essential part in a game because it brings out the fun in the game. I rated the sound of the game a 10 because of how good it sounds and also because it is not repetitive either. Addictiveness: 8Remember in street fighter how you would always get that addicted feeling that you wanted to win or how stuck you would get trying to beat ryu? Well at least I felt that way because I was addicted to trying to win and beat all of the other fighters, well same concepts apply here you have to beat all of the other fighters here and once you do, 2 other fighters including the Rat King and also Karai who you fight against once you have beaten all the characters on the map. I have a hard enough time trying to beat shredder who I think is really over powered in the game. I usually play as Donatello because he has range with his staff because he can whack them from a distance which is useful for keeping and maintaining health. So after you beat all the characters which if that didn't give you enough of a time then you battle 2 extra characters, rat king and karai who are both powerful enough for a good fight, so I gave the addictiveness an 8 because it is like street fighter where even though you know you may not win, you still keep trying anyway! Story: 7The tmnt games always are pretty good with a story line which is usually rescuing April from shredder or some enemy and they have to go through several stages to find her and rescue her from shredder. In this game there is a story mode where the turtles get a message from Karai and they have to rescue April and then shredder after going through several stages of fighting. There are 2 types of endings which depend on the difficulty setting, if the setting is below a 3 in difficulty then you end up rescuing splinter and then he says that you aren't ready to defeat Karai. But if the setting is higher than a 3 it ends with the defeat of Karai and the turtles celebrate and splinter congratulates them and tells them to continue to train in case of a lingering evil, the difficulty settings can be changed in the options in the menu screen. So the story line is petty good, I gave it a 7 because most of it is fighting and then rescuing April and Splinter, not much to it.Depth: 6The game offers 13 characters to fight against including yourself and also Rat King and Karai. I find the game challenging in terms of fighting the bosses because I only finished the game one time and now I can't even get past shredder because of his powerful moves. So the game does offer a good challenge in fighting all of the other characters, and if you win depending on if you are playing in story mode and the difficulty setting, you can play again on a higher difficulty and then beat Karai. I rated the depth a 6 mostly because it is challenging to beat all the characters which makes for a good game because no one wants an easy game with no challenge or nothing unexpected. Also because you can always change the difficulty if you felt it was to easy or too hard for you and you can play the game over again.Difficulty: 5 The game can be again like street fighter, very difficult to beat. I think to be good at the game you need an easy control set up so you don't have to stretch and reach over the keyboard to attack, by that time you will be finished. I also think that you should pick a balanced character that is fast or skilled and also has good moves. For instance, I use Donatello because he is skilled and he also has range attacks when he swings his staff which can be useful in fighting a stronger enemy. Control wise, there are a few controls and it is set up like street fighter with a low kick, low punch, high kick, and a special attack you can use once you have filled the green bar in tournament mode. Overall the controls are for you to set up and it varies in difficulty from how you set up your controls, how you set the difficulty on the options menu, and if you are ready to win! So it is different for everybody. I rated the difficulty a 5 because it can be harder with some of the bosses because of their moves, but that's what makes it challenging and fun to play!

Tournament fighters (snes) Awesome5000
Similar to street fighter , tournament fighters for snes is a one on one fighting game ,and has two different modes. One is story mode where you have to save april and splinter who have been kidnapped by the shredder as you face every one of his minions one on one upto you reach the destined fighter to face you to free them. The other is tournament mode where you face not just shredder and his minions ,but you also have to face those of your own group to be the top winner and champion of the tournament .Only difference is in story mode you wont have a special powerup bar that you will have striked enough to get it filled for you can preform a powerful special that almost takes all the life of the other opponent, but it is in tournament mode.Everyone of the turtle characters that are not in the game ,are in the background as spectators ,nonetheless ,tmnt tournament fighters is one of konamis snes best games ever.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - Tournament Fighters - Tournament of Awfulness geeogree
Teengae Mutant Ninja Turtles - Tournament Fighters is an average at best fighting game. I don't believe there is any real direct correlation between this game and the previous Turtles in Time game. For some reason a tournament is organized in which the Shredder is participating. The Turtles get wind of this and decide to join as well. Not sure who oragnized this but I can't imagine it was a very invite only type event.
There were multiple versions of the game released with minor differences between them. I'm going to be referring to the North American version.
Graphics 6/10 - the graphics for this game are not bad but are definitely not great. I think the graphics for Turtles in Time were better. The movement of the characters doesn't look great. The animations feel clunky and awkward. The character design and overall feel of the characters is amateurish.
The only thing that helps save the graphics is the level design. It seems like the levels themselves got more attention than the character sprites did. Even that though couldn't really help save the graphics for this game. They were average.
Sound 4/10 - I did not like the sound for this game. The music did not feel right for a fighting game. Either go the metal route or do the cartoony style that Turtles in Time had. Whatever this game had didn't really feel right for any of the levels. There might have been 1 or 2 level tracks that were good but I can't remember which levels they were for. Not great.
The other issue I had with the sound had to do with the sound of the fighting. The hits that looked like they were blocked sounded like they hit and vice versa. It didn't really make much sense. I was disappointed with the overall sound for this game. Felt lazy to me.
Addictiveness 2/10 - I don't want to ever play this game again. The controls were bad, the characters outside of the turtles were boring. The turtles themselves weren't great to play. I hated playing this game. I wouldn't play it again unless I absolutely had to.
Story 4/10 - the story for this game is alright. A tournament was set-up by someone and Shredder joined it along with the Ninja Turtles once they learned he had joined. No idea who set this up or why or how the Turtles joined a tournament like this. It doesn't really make a lot of sense.
There is also a story mode which involes saving April and Splinter which is not great. It adds a bit of story to the game but not much.
Depth 3/10 - There is not a lot of depth to this game. Nothing really feels unique to me as I played through it. There are miltiple modes but none of them really drew me in or felt fully developed. I feel like there could have been a lot more characters to the game. There were plenty that got completely overlooked from the earlier games and cartoons that would have made this game more interesting.
Difficulty 6/10 - I rated this game a 6 not because it was that difficult to beat but because it was hard to play. The controls were bad. The move timing felt off to me.
Overall 4.2/10 - I did not like this game. Obvioulsy it wasn't all bad but there wasn't enough good along with the bad to really make the game enjoyable. I would not recommend this game as a fighting game worth playing. It really fails as a fighting game. It also tries to have a story mode that also doesn't really fully fleshed out. It's like they should have picked one or the other and focus on it alone.
