Super Mario 64 StarRevenge ReviewHello! Here is my review of Super Mario 64 StarRevenge, an amazing hack of Super Mario 64 that contains over 100 stars and about 20 levels.
Graphics: 9
I rated this category a 9 because I am very impressed with the graphics BroDute used in this hack and I think they are almost perfect! Lots of the graphics from Super Mario 64 are re-textured in this hack. I'll give you a few examples.
-Mario's clothes: in Super Mario 64 they are colored red and blue whereas in this hack they are colored orange and blue.
-The coins: in Super Mario 64 there are 8 red coins in most of the levels but in this hack there are 8 orange coins in most of the levels, except in Course 10, "Random Meme Fort", where they are colored yellow.
In Super Mario 64 the yellow coins are bright whereas in this hack the yellow coins are dark.
In Super Mario 64 the blue coins are dark but in this hack the blue coins are bright.
-The pipes: in Super Mario 64 the pipes are colored green whereas in this hack the pipes are colored bright blue.
There are also a lot of graphics in this hack that weren't in Super Mario 64. I'll give you a few examples.
-At the beginning of the first overworld, there is a gray sign with a white arrow that is pointing to the direction of the path of platforms that lead to the rest of the level that is easier to navigate.
-Near almost every level entrance there is a sign. If the course entrance is behind a door there will be a sign that tells you how many stars you need to get in the door. Near almost every main course entrance that isn't behind a door there is a sign that tells you what the course number is.
Great job, BroDute! :D
Sound: 10
I'll break this category down into two sub-categories because that makes this review better and more unique and it makes this review easier for me to do :D
Sound Effects: 10
I rated this sub-category a 10 because I love every sound effect in this hack, I think they all are used perfectly, and I think they all sound perfect. Great job, Nintendo! I'm glad you didn't
delete or change any of the sound effects, BroDute! :D
Music: 10
I rated this sub-category a 10 because I love every song used in this hack, I think they all fit in with where they were placed perfectly, and I can't find anything I don't like about any of the songs used in this hack! My favorite thing about this hack's music is that most of the music is not re-used from Super Mario 64. :D
Addictiveness: 8
I rated this category an 8 because I find this hack to be very addicting. I find this hack to be very addicting because I am a huge fan of Super Mario 64 and I love most of the levels in this hack. I'm sure almost every huge fan of Super Mario 64 would find this hack to be addicting as well. :D
Story: 8
I rated this category an 8 because part of the story in this hack is different than the story in Super Mario 64 and I think it is pretty good! The story in this hack goes like this: stars are out to get revenge on Mario and Bowser has kidnapped Princess Peach Toadstool once again! Mario must collect more stars and save her from the evil King of Koopas! Awesome job with the story, BroDute! :D
Depth: 8
I rated this category an 8 because this game has a lot to do and people who haven't played this hack before will likely take a while to beat it. Like I said at the beginning of this review, this hack contains over 100 stars and about 20 levels. I am pretty good at Super Mario 64 and it took me quite a while to beat this hack!
Difficulty: 7
I rated this category a 7 because I think this hack isn't too hard overall. Some of the stars I can't get without using savestates but most of them are easy for me.
Overall: 9
This is a pretty amazing hack. I think BroDute did a nice job with everything in this hack. If you play this hack or you have already played it you will likely agree. I hope you liked this review! I always appreciate some feedback because it helps me see what I need to improve on in my future reviews so please give me feedback if you want to!
