Pokemon ultimate ruby - the best pokemon hack i've ever played   yoshirulez!

Today is a special day, Because I am reviewing one of the best Pokémon hacks I have ever played on vizzed, Pokémon Ultimate Ruby. Pokémon ultimate ruby was one of tgags123's first hacks he had made, And let me tell you... It's MUCH more interesting than any other Pokémon ruby hack I've played. In the process of making this game, Tgags consumed a large amount of pizza, and soda. Which fueled his mind and created this awesome game. In the hack, You can obtain all of the Pokémon from all 3 generations, Which make it easier to fortify your team in preparation of future events such as the elite four. You can also catch a large amount of starters in the first town, Hence the name "Starter town". There were also 2 more cities renamed. Sootopolis city was renamed "Semi-Legend city", and ever grande was renamed "Legend city". I've yet to complete the game fully, So I'm not sure why the cities were named Semi-legend and legend city.

Graphics:8. The graphics for Pokémon ruby were top notch at the time, But could've been a lot better. And tgags made it better. The flashing blue characters are hypnotising to watch. Other areas that seemed to have changed are Pokémon gyms. Pokémon gyms seem to look rather, Burnt, Or buried in some sort of desert. Their might be some graphical glitches, such as the trees you can walk on and such, But that just adds to the feel of the game. Unexpected things you could search for in the graphics. Places that seem to block your path, But you might be able to walk through. Or, Things you should be able to walk through, That you cannot. It all contributes to the suspense of the graphics. It's something new, and exciting. If it were like all of the other Pokémon ruby hacks, I wouldn't like it at all. New is good, In my opinion. The different colorations are a nice touch to the graphics, and left me happy. 8/10.

Sound:8. The sound hasn't exactly changed any from the original Pokémon ruby, But it still seems different when you walk into an invisible object and it makes a thud sound. Or if it doesn't make a thud sound when you walk into anything. It also seems different because of the different cries you can hear, Since I never got the national dex on Pokémon ruby, I never got to hear the cries of generation 1 and 2 Pokémon. This game lets you get all of the Pokémon from generation 1,2 and 3, Therefore allowing you to experience all of the cries in-battle. The different cries for when it's hurt, Or it faints. That is why I prefer the sound in this game over anything else. 8/10.

Music:7. The music always seems to make me happy. Although the characters are blue, The music doesn't make you feel blue. (See what I did there?) It's nice and pretty. If you would try to invision the music in your head, It would seem like a nice day at the beach, Or a stroll through a beautiful park full of butterflies. But there are other things such as sootopolis, the underground cavern, And Mt.Pyre. These have a rather darker feel to the music. But, If game music was ALL happy puppies chocolate and rainbows, It wouldn't be as enjoyable. You've got to have a balance in games, Which is exactly what this game has. 7/10.

Addictiveness:7. Now, I'll have to admit, This is a Pokémon game. Pokémon games bore me. I usually get bored and play something else. But not with this game. This game makes me anxious to get my turn on the computer (I share one computer with 2 other people) and play it for the entire duration of my turn. (1 hour) I didn't do that today, But that's because I'm writing a review on it. (Obviously). This game kept my attention and it kept me busy, So I think it deserves a fairly high rating. 7/10.

Story:5. Eh... This story is exactly like every other Pokémon game out there. Same story, different kid. In this one, Apparently, There's a team dedicated to awakening an ancient Pokémon to increase landmass. You, Don't get caught up in that YET. Instead, It's the typical Pokémon league adventure, You go around fighting people in gyms. There's the pokedex challenge, And generally you have to stop some sort of team that's doing bad stuff. In this case you get caught up in the whole ancient Pokémon thing when you're trying to leave a city. Bad dudes always wanna ruin the fun of collecting little fluffy creatures and forcing them to kill things. But does that really make them "bad" per se? Nothing new to see here.... 5/10.

Depth:9. It's a Pokémon game, So there's generally a lot of Pokémon things to do. First of all, You have to beat the game. That's easy. But then you have to do the contests.... That's moderately hard, And then there's the pokedex challenge. This one is EXTREMELY hard to do, But not in this one. There are patches of grass in random places that contain Pokémon from different generations. Therefore, you don't have to trade with Fire red/leaf green version to get the national dex, So you can get the rest of the Pokémon. The game is fully completable I think, Unless you can't find the trade-only evolutions in patches of grass. Allowing more things to do, Even though nothing was really added. I'm impressed. 9/10.

Difficulty:4. I mean, Come on... It's a Pokémon game. Pokémon games really aren't that hard unless you need to level grind for the elite four and champion. Otherwise it's just spam extremely strong move. I could probably speed run this game. In fact, TGAGS! I have an idea! Start a speed run contest for this game! I'm sure it would catch on!. Yeah, Pretty easy, But fun. 4/10.

Overall:9.7. This game impressed me beyond measure. The fact that you can catch practically all of the Pokémon from all 3 generations astounds me. If you can manage to catch em all, Than you're better than me. This game has some cool bugs in it, Mostly graphical. Some may consider bugs to be bad, But I enjoy them. Would enjoy the game less if they fixed them. Lotsa stuff to do in this game. Can you say Catch em all competition? I think it would be a good idea.

Well, Now that I'm done, I should really play the game some more. Bye!

Not sure if it sends tgags123 a notification when I submit a review, so...

Just going to summon you because I thought you would like to see it. Hope you like it.

A New Pokemon Hack   zanderlex
Pokemon Ultimate Ruby is the second Pokemon Hack of tgags123 and essentially follows the same route as his first hack, Aquamarine by taking a generation three Pokemon game and making it better by adding new Pokemon. This time though, the game is a hack of Pokemon Ruby. Again, the main new feature of the game is the addition of new Pokemon and that's about it, but even just a handful of new Pokemon can revive an old game and make it more exciting.
The game also happens to be full of glitches, some of them are a bit annoying, while some are actually quite entertaining. For instance, it is possible to head into the grass patch in "Starter Town" before you receive your first Pokemon and you will be attacked by a random starter Pokemon. Because you have no Pokemon, the Pokemon that you send out with by a question mark symbol. Other early on glitches you might find include sprite malfunctions, trees that you can walk through and tiles that can not be crossed. Like I said before, you might only experience a few glitches that you find annoying, while the rest will give you a laugh.
GRAPHICS
As for the graphics, I only see one small problem and that is the coloring of the sprites, and that is only a minor problem. Other than that, the graphics of the game seem like an other Gen 3 Pokemon game, the tiles are colorful, and they are as detailed as any pokemon game should be. For the graphics, I give the game an 8.
SOUND
So far into my playthrough, I see no problems at all with the sounds. Each of the songs are beautiful and make me think back to the fun times I used to have when Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire had first been released. If this is a Pokemon hack, then Pokemon music deserves to be in it and this hack does not fail so I give it a 9 for sound.
ADDICTVINESS
All Pokemon games are meant to be addicting and are meant for you to waste hours upon hours catching Pokemon and training them. This game is no exception to the rule, it follows the basis of Pokemon Ruby while also allows you to catch more Pokemon, including all of the original starter. If you don't find that to be addicting, then I'm sorry, but you aren't really much of a Pokemon fan. These aspects make the game slightly more addicting than the original Pokemon Ruby and for that, I give the Addictivness aspect a grade of 10.
STORY
In a Pokemon game, the story is where the bulk of the action lies and aside for a few minor changes, the basic plot of a Pokemon game does not change. It's just about the same with Pokemon Ultimate Ruby, as it follows the formula for Pokemon Ruby. You get a starter Pokemon from the Professor (Either Bulbasuar, Cyndaquill, or Mudkip) you train your Pokemon and take on the gym leaders and then you head on to the elite four and champion in an effort to become the strongest trainer in the region. Oh, and you have to do all that while basically saving the world from Team Magma. It's a classic storyline that deserves praise and because of this, I give a grade of 9.
DEPTH
As for the depth, there is a lot more to a Pokemon game than what you think there is when you first start a game, there is so much more. Any Pokemon game has a vast amount of depth because of all the cities, routes, trainers, gyms, etc. But this game takes the depth to a new level by adding more Pokemon. The addition of more Pokemon means that there is more to do, there are more Pokemon to catch, there are more Pokemon to train to level 100, every new Pokemon added to the game individually adds to the depth of the game. For this game, I am going to give the depth aspect a grade of 9.
DIFFICULTY
It's a Pokemon game, Pokemon games are meant to be fun to play and only slightly challenging. If you know what you are doing and you actually spend time training, you should run into no troubles. For Difficulty, I give it a 5.
OVERALL
Overall, I am going to give this game a 9 as a grade. As it stands right now, I say that Aquamarine is the better of tgags hacks, but this is only because of the color glitches and some of the tile errors. But the game, as it is now, is still a very fun and unique game. If there had been no errors, I would have easily ranked this hack ahead of the other because it's just so much fun to play. Otherwise, this is still a really great game.

Pokemon Ultimate Ruby Game Description

Pokemon Ultimate Ruby is a fun twist on a popular Pokemon game. It follows the same storyline, but surprises, such as new Pokemon, make this game more interesting than the original. There are also many errors in this game, some of them on purpose.
