SonicOlmstead : Rumours say the PS6 could be similar to the Switch and the Steam Deck, so I wouldn't be surprised if both Sony and Microsoft end up opting for that strategy. There's also the Steam Machine putting pressure on them, which could further imply that Sony and Microsoft need to look beyond "traditional" consoles. Not sure what other changes could be well received because it's for sure a new Playstation TV would flop just like it did on its original attempt, but maybe they're thinking on other strategies to be game-changers on their own instead of following the trend set by Nintendo and Steam.

Since the Steam Machine isn't out just yet I could see another reason why 2027 is an early date, but consoles are on the losing end nowadays due to newer generations discarding consoles entirely to focus on PC as well as mobile gaming. Thus, they could "rush" the release of their own game-changer in an attempt to revert that situation, hence why 2027 would be an appropriate time (and depending on how the numbers of their current consoles, including that waste of money of the PS5 Pro like you said, go during this time).

With Xbox and Playstation I hear the new console coming this year and just think why??? At this point I don't think a new console is going to impress me I was excited for the Switch 2 because the Switch needed an upgrade badly but what does the PS5 and Xbox Series X struggle with? Not mention there was just a PS5 Pro which seemed like a waste of money to me as well.

That said I do think by 2028 we'll be seeing new consoles again and I hope it's not sooner than that cause like I said I don't see the point anymore.

I managed to remember to come here, for this will be post number 6,500. I'm just the 30th user to make it up here, so I'm quite proud of this achievement.

I'm 250 away from progressing in the list, and that's surely going to take some time. Considering I got less than 60 posts during the past TdV it looks like I won't even be able to do it during this year, but there's a lot of time ahead and things can change.

Things keep going ahead in Master Duel. After clearing multiple portals of archetypes I liked, and before progressing to the last steps, I decided to give a second chance to some levels I left behind due to being way too troublesome. I managed to clear some of them, but I won't clear all of them because they're such a hassle and require tons of attempts due to needing a bit of bad luck from your opponent when you get the perfect hand. So basically, I will now resort back to the portals about archetypes I like and clearing them.

Better news came with the latest update, which brought us two new portals. One of them is introductory, not telling the proper story, but still has a few levels which could be promising. The other is a fully fledged portal, with animations and maybe even voiced sequences, though I ignore how the duels will be or what will they focus in. I'll clear through these first, so next time I come here I'll make sure to let you know about how they were.

That's basically everything I've done since my last post. Due to being excessively overworked I've barely had time to progress on anything, instead opting to just play for fun to ease my mind. Now we're back to manageable levels of stress, so I'll surely go back to writing some guides I have in mind including Assetto Corsa.

While many would think this could be the start of the end for this blog, I'm far from done in videogames. As I clear Master Duel, I'm thinking if I should focus in two or three other Switch games I have even if they don't have much progress or even obtain new games for it, and I still have pending looking into the emulators field. Also, a friend of mine siad we could link our accounts in Steam so we could play multiplayer here at home when having meetings, so maybe that can open up space to more content.

We'll see what news I have for you next month. Like I stated, I'll have more time now even if my weekends are quite packed, though if I entirely focus on writing I won't be gaming much but there will always be a slot for gaming, and here I'll share any news worthy of sharing.

While it's been long speculated that 2027 could be a potential launch date for the next generation of Playstation and Microsoft consoles, all we got from the gaming world was that GTA 6 was delayed once more. But on serious matters, the gaming world was just filled with speculations over when can it happen, speculations which have been affected as well by the news of the Steam Machine and obviously invigorated with the release and first numbers of the Switch 2.

A few days ago, all of this speculation came to life when Lisa Su, CEO of AMD (the company in charge of powering the new Xbox), stated that they were progressing well with the development to support a launch in 2027. Given how AMD basically gives life to everything else the console is, this pretty much confirms that they're eyeing a release within the next 12-20 months and as such the speculation now gets much more serious.

Some people say the shortage in RAM may force further delays, as well as the news regarding Sony's new console and rival and also the development of launch games. But all these is up to Microsoft and as such even if they do aim for a 2027 release and AMD may be fully ready to supply them by 2027, the only real confirmation can come from Microsoft themselves. Still, we have enough to speculate further and consider why this might or might not happen.

In my personal opinion, I think it's way too early. GTA 6 is a major title both Microsoft and Sony are heavily expecting, so to release a console within less than a year after its release sounds unlikely. The only way this could work is if the change between consoles isn't great, which will surely be like that seeing what we've had with the last consoles even in Nintendo's case, which would also allow GTA 6 to have an updated version and be an early title for the new consoles after selling lots in the current consoles. Even then, I think they'll try to stretch their consoles a bit more, adding to other issues like RAM shortage or the still early life of the top-notch versions of the current consoles (PS5 Pro and it's heavy price happened in November 2024).

What do you guys think? We could see a new Xbox within the next 12-18 months, even if it's a strategy to get ahead of Sony's new console to gain ground? Was this just a bait to concentrate speculation on this subject rather than talk about other subjects? Or is this a realistic aim that may be further delayed due to exterior interference?

It was 4 AM when I decided to go to sleep. It's been a weekend packed with plans and yesterday they dragged on for a lot more than I had wanted to, I fell asleep almost instantly due to how tired I was.

I remember the days when it was usual for me to stay until that late or more yet now it seems nigh-impossible for me to pull it off. The passing of time I guess.

Doing my weekly music updates. Haven't had time during the weekend due to social life, and actually I'm happy about it because I needed some quality time to relax and the week has been quite generous in releases.

Also dealing with a troublesome update that just popped today on my PC, it keeps saying I need to reinstall the OS so it can update and restore things or whatever. I've never had to reinstall anything so this pisses me off greatly, and obviously I'll pass on this.

Today makes 12 years since I signed up for this website way back in 2014 and seeing as I'm 24 I've now spent half my life on this website which seems crazy I can think of when Furret hit that point and talked about how crazy it was and I probably said something like I can't imagine what that feels like but now I'm here and it's just like wow.

I've been looking back at the previous years of my anniversary thread cause I love having a great way to go back and see where my headspace was around the site each year and seeing how it progressed each year seeing me talk about goals I had and such. Well now I've hit 5000 posts and while I don't know if it's realistic I want 10k so seeing all those old posts of how I hit all my goals is funny now cause I can just aim higher cause why not?

I talked about it in my 10 year thread how I might someday go for admin again to change my username color and that's a goal for for me as well could I just ask and maybe get it changed? Maybe but that's no fun.

I feel like this is just rambling at this point so maybe making this thread at 1 AM right before bed wasn't a great idea but anyway it's funny looking back at 2024 and seeing how burnt out I was on staff and such and while I wouldn't say I regret stepping down back then I needed a break and I had so much going on that year with me traveling overseas getting married etc... That I'm glad I stepped down instead of trying to stay active during all that but something geeo said in one of these threads of mine is very true it's hard to look around on the site after stepping down and not being able to help and that's probably why I was only off the mod team for about 6 months.
