God transcends time.  That's the point of the predestination concept.  The decision IS yours.  That's what makes life a journey. You don't know how it ends so, the choice is yours.

LastManStanding :
Wrong.  You're arguing circular logic.  The point of is that it's GOD that knows, not some random person.  God, which can transcend time and space and encompasses all things at once, is the choice you make as much as it's the choice you don't make as much as it's you and as much as it's everything you can conceive.

Don't try beating faith, you'll have much more luck applying it to the reality of what's in front of you.  The ideas came from somewhere

I think the idea is that God knows and you don't. Strive to be the best person you can and you're more likely to be on the VIP list.

Bah, it's not necessarily gamer terms.  It's a D&D reference, the dungeon master being the one who controls the rules, environment, challenges, everything but the playable characters.

if we are a video game, God is the AI.

bigNATE :
Now this is an interesting subject.  Predestination then, isn't the best word for it?  It's actually something that doesn't need a title.  If it's part of God's infinite... hmmm how do I put this?  It doesn't affect will, God just knows already.  So then the question as to whether even acting on certain impulses based on the idea that your fate is predetermined is weak sauce.  You should strive for the best and God knows how it will turn out.

Is that correct? Albeit poorly worded

As Christian beliefs go, I think that believing in the rapture is a fundamental part your faith.  It sort of starts the whole thing, if I recall.

I'm spiritual, not religious so please correct me on anything I'm wrong about.  The question I have pertains to missioning and spreading the word.

It's my understanding that the apocalypse and revelations etc will all happen once every person has had the chance to hear the message of Christ.  If this is the case, wouldn't going on missions and spreading the word be speeding up the time until then?  Rather, does anyone ever think of it as bringing judgment day sooner?  Is it something that maybe an extremist would do or something or what?  Just curious.

if it doesn't make sense, think of it this way.  If someone wanted $100,000 then they would kill you, would you be rushing to get as much money as you could?

Also, this isn't a fear of death thing, this is a question about motive.

hnnn :
I think you're assuming that they would know about it before it was widespread.  Before it made it to the vampires, it would have to be going on a while I think.  Although, I guess it depends on location.  If I saw the first zombie ever, there wouldn't be a second.  I'm sure vampires would think the same way.  But, as I said, there's other circumstances that affect it including the speed at which the zombie virus can mutate to afflict a vampire and the vampires' abilities to take out the zombies in a timely manner.  Remember the zombies have all of day light to spread the disease before a vampire can even take a swing.  They have a fair number of advantages that would have immeasurable real-world impacts

It's a pretty good episode.  Not my favorite but, definitely worth seeing.

Exiled_templar :   They made a vague reference to the idea that even though the vampires won, the virus still infected them, through their own biting of the zombies!

hnnn : Absolutely!  Vampires would have had a plan to avoid it all together.  Or failing that, they would have an exit strategy.  There most likely wouldn't be a fight!

Annette :
Yes vampires won and that's exactly why I thought they would.  The same reason we humans would win!  They also used modern vampires, no garlic and no crosses.  No holy water either but that might be more like... zombies cant bless water.

They didn't use brain munchers either, they used plague-style zombies that just feed on flesh and spread the virus.  The doctor discussed how the decaying of flesh is not necessarily a disadvantage as the fingers would sharpen as a result (decay of course going from the outside in).  They also have superior strength to humans due to the fact that they have no consciousness to speak of.  No neural inhibitors which tell us to stop when something we are doing will damage our body.  Where you might squeeze until your hand hurts, they would squeeze until the goal was accomplished, so to speak.

It was interesting and definitely worth watching.

All things considered, this episode was fantastically done!  I have no issue with the results and I have no complaints about the methodology.

However, there is one thing I will take issue with and it's a BIGGIE!  I don't think their analysis of the vampire's strength and speed is accurate.  The claim made by Steve Niles was that a vampire would have 6 times the speed and strength of a professional ("elite") athlete.  The athlete they used was a professional body builder who (the type who weighs 300+lbs and is a solid brick of muscle).  With his downward strike force of 1700 pounds, they determined that all vampires would have a strike strength of around 8800 pounds.  I refuse to believe that.  I would believe 6 times the vampire's human strength, which for me would give a strike force of around.... I dunno... I can break poplar in a single strike so maybe a maximum of 2800 lbs.

I dunno, anyone who watches, feel free to chime in!  Am I the only one who thinks that vampire's strength was grossly overestimated?

I have Dev C++ so I'm good on that part. I think I recall our library selling a book on C++ during a book sale for like $1.50 but that was months ago.  Hopefully they still have something relevant!

Thanks for the suggestions guys!

Hello all!

I took C++ in high school and I sort of remember some of it, but also I'm mostly reteaching myself.  Does anyone have any suggestions on the order in which I should learn or a website or book with a particularly good format for advancing?  I'd like to get back into OOP but, that's gotta be a long way away at this point!

Thanks for any tips!

Someone70 : my understanding is that they changed the water temple so that you don't have the problem where, if you open the locked doors out of order, you've screwed yourself into starting the game over.  Personally, I enjoyed that when I first found out.  But, I will say that since I've seen more of it, I am more excited about it.

BNuge :   All solid arguments

Being the heavy metaller and guitar junkie that I am, I cast my vote for Mastodon's Crack the Skye and Dream Theaters Scenes from a Memory.

Even if its not your genre, I highly recommend these albums. Life changing content within.

Belinni : Yeah man, cowboy bebop should be interesting and I didn't know they were doing death note.

See, I'm curious why so many American fans hated the movie because internationally it did quite well ("The film had a gross earning in the United States and Canada of $9,362,785 and a foreign gross of $48,134,914" from Box Office Mojo).

Oh well lol. And hey! Just because someone doesn't feel like fighting doesn't mean that.....

Yep. Nothin.
