MULTIPLE RESPONSES

Someone70 :

I was involved in various aspects of the machines from maintenance to finally designing and fabricating customized cabinets. Some of the machines were still in the design process, sometimes the game concept was revamped to fit the cabinets..

I have many machines that I love and it's impossible to say any are my favorite but I'll name a few that I still continue to play. Dangar was one of my all time favorites but few people know that one. Black Tiger was very sweet and I was surprised to see it on some classic collection ps2 and gamecube releases. T-MEK was a awesome game, so much fun to play in a group!

Remodeled? Yes I did that quite a bit. I have a large selection of re-created stencils that I made in order to restore original paint jobs. Bondo and plastic wood were my best friends when fixing water damaged wood. On machines that had manufacturing defects (William's Power Supplies) I would design custom replacements. Atari cabinets were some of the worst cabinets to repair, particle board is so hard to fix once it has water damage.

I know plenty of secrets for older and newer machines. The easiest one is this. There is a device you can buy that is about the size of a car alarm key-chain remote. It is available for purchase on-line  and with a press of a button can give you free credits. It is a insanely funny story on how the device first came about. Of course there is protection against that device now. Most arcades now have a item that disrupts the signal that can trigger "free credits" but I know for a fact not all games have been protected. Now you are probably all excited and  trying to find the device to buy right? Well it is very easy to find except it cost about $600. Sorry to crush your dreams. Now making one yourself is a bit cheaper....

Of course I was able to play the games! I was even given quite a few game pcbs when they were retired and they now reside in my game room.

Brandon Lee was shot by a bullet tip that was still stuck in the gun barrel which was propelled by a dummy round when the same gun was being used in another scene. . This was due to negligence and half-a**ed prop work. Here is the wiki of it.

Since the movie's second unit was running behind schedule, they decided to make dummy cartridges (cartridges that outwardly appear to be functional but contain no propellant or primers) from real cartridges by pulling out the bullets, dumping out the propellant and reinserting the bullets. However, the team neglected to remove the primers, which, if fired, could still produce just enough force to push the bullet out of the cartridge and into the barrel (a squib load) due to its proximity to the bullet. At some point prior to the fatal scene, the live primer in one of the improperly constructed dummy rounds was discharged by an unknown person while in the pistol, leaving the bullet to travel the length of the gun to be stuck in its barrel by the force of being so closely proximate.[6]

This malfunction went unnoticed by the crew, and the same gun was later reloaded with blank cartridges and used in the scene in which Lee was shot. When the first blank cartridge was fired, the force of the primer, though no longer close to the bullet, was able to propel the stuck bullet out of the barrel a new distance greater than the length of the gun and it struck Lee in the abdomen, lodging in his spine. He fell down instantly, and director Alex Proyas shouted "Cut!". When Lee did not get up, the cast and crew rushed to him and found that he was wounded. He was immediately rushed to the New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington by ambulance, but following a six-hour operation to remove the bullet, Lee was pronounced dead at 1:04 p.m. on March 31, 1993. He was 28 years old.[7]

Your mission if you choose to accept is to help create a work music play list for myself and several other co-workers. We have a love of techno, ambient, synth, and grunge music but all titles will be considered. Help us get through the next few grueling nights!

Well, what I do depends on when and how long the power is out. Usually I first attempt to contact the power company. Next I would scream at the person who answered  until I realize I'm talking to a automated answering system. After that I would probably go eat the ice cream in the freezer cause it might melt while playing games on the laptop. Finally I would notice that I forgot to charge the laptop the night before and begin to cry.

Other times I would turn on the backup generator so the fridge, portable ac, and tv would get power.

If it happened at night I would probably sleep or read a book...while hugging onto a shotgun to protect myself from the zombie horde.

I am at work partying all mellow like because the last thing you want to do is get drunk in front of your boss or co-workers. It's more fun watching other people make that mistake.

Although I have to admit, watching fireworks at work from atop a 8 floor parking garage is awesome.

As for what my plans are for 2012 before everything turns to dust? Get married, buy a new bed, get my masters, lease a car, and expand my massive classic console game collection.

Not bad, been dying to try Skyrim but haven't had the time yet. Arkham City was sweet, although I wish they had missions for Robin instead of just challenges. As for the hot sauce, you do your body justice but your colon will suffer.

Nice haul, but  why a subway card? Seriously, people get those for Christmas?

MegaRevolution1

Sweet, loved Sonic Spinball.

mike345

Just don't go see the Alvin and the Chipmunks movie.

alexanyways

I know how you feel with the sketching equipment. For some reason I received a oil paints kit for Christmas from my future mother in law. I have never used a oil paint in my entire life. Most painting i ever did was with water colors when I was a kid. Go figure right?

rcarter2

Well I would love a new razor. Seriously I hate these plastic disposable ones.

Happy New Year Everyone!!

Davideo7 :

Actually no, I dealt with just about every 80's game there was. Right next to me I have a rotating joystick from Ikari Warriors and a control panel from Wacko. Most arcade machines were not really retired, just rotated to other locations. Later on I also began refurbishing older games for home-buyers. Williams and Midway machines were the most popular for home buyers. One of my favorite arcade games is Dangar UFO Hunter. Not many people remember that one.

Prize games? You mean ticket dispensing machines pr prize dispensing ones? Yes. I've worked on skeet balls, frog wheel, dinopops, and so many others. I've also worked with mega-cranes, egg layers, and various other prize machines.

Being in the business for so long I've come across many fun little facts, dark little secrets, and other information directly related to arcade machines and the companies that produced them. I figure I could answer some questions if anyone is interested in the subject. Maybe this will help correct some misconceptions on how machines work or even why the industry collapsed.

One of the funnier stories is how some of the game companies used to send out "Instructors"  to the US from Japan  in order to see how the Game Routes in the US were operated. Many of I these "Instructors" were disgusted at the way the US Operators ran the machines. They argued that the Operators needed to charge more then a quarter for each game. If you look at Japan's arcades ,in the past and present, you can see how insane some of the pricing was. Many of the US Operators just laughed this off. The company I worked for couldn't believe how rude they were and how they had no idea how the game industry in the US worked.  This led to several changes in the game industry but that's a pretty long tangent to jump into.

So ask away, I love talking about this kind of stuff!!

I receive and give answers and questions when not asked or asked so. I think it has something to do in are genes that gives us the need to be right. Studies have shown that the majority of people well continue to support a wrong answer even after it has been proven unquestionably wrong.

See what I did there, I answered questions not asked!

One of the things I loved most about the New Year parties is the fireworks. My family will get together and pool a bunch of cash for the kids in order to purchase fireworks. After drinking a bit some of us would then do stupid things like attempting to "modify" the fireworks, we are such great role models.

This year though I will be spending New Years with my work family which means no drinking or personal fireworks sadly. Although I am looking forward to seeing some of the bigger fireworks shows with my fiancée downtown.

So what's everyone else going to be doing?

Vizzed.com is very expensive to keep alive! The Ads pay for the servers.

Vizzed has 3 TB worth of games and 1 TB worth of music.  This site is free to use but the ads barely pay for the monthly server fees.  If too many more people use ad block, the site cannot survive.

We prioritize the community over the site profits.  This is why we avoid using annoying (but high paying) ads like most other sites which include popups, obnoxious sounds and animations, malware, and other forms of intrusiveness.  We'll do our part to never resort to these types of ads, please do your part by helping support this site by adding Vizzed.com to your ad blocking whitelist.
