They say if you get a job you love doing you'll never work a day in your life.
I enjoy the mechanical engineering field, chemistry, and genetics, but its my first year in college, and I don't have any idea on what I might be doing. Before the subdivision of Kingdoms are put in (Animals, Plants, Fungi etc) Life is divided into different Domains. Each domain sort of houses life in a respectable environment. Our domain is most commonly known as Earth, but this kind of environment potentially includes other planets from 'habitable zones' or Goldilocks planets from other solar systems (a good example is Gliese 581c). The only thing you need for the building blocks of life (this doesn't count what the backbone is made of - in our case carbon) is liquid water, or another substitute like liquid methane (but we can't live in such a cold environment for those kinds of substitutes to exist).
Overall I believe other life does exist, but in the kind of environments and planets that we ourselves would consider hazardous and unstable. Its just like you never see Eskimos down near the equator during summer, etc. They most likely won't live comfortably on our planet as we would on theirs either. I played it once and I didn't like it. Maybe it was the time limit I had playing it because I was only visiting my dad's house for a couple hours, or that it was a pretty complicated game for my age since I was pretty young at the time. I don't exactly remember a lot but I can see how it is popular as being the first of many derivatives to come. But as with all pioneers...They don't really get recognized as much as the next guy. |

I guess I'll stand out from the crowd and say this.
2dnoodleman, you can do whatever you want, you don't have to listen to geeogree or anyone else who contradicts you. Just work on your 'theory' and IF you EVER get to a dead end in it then make sure you blame yourself and not us. I'm not saying this to put anyone here down and I'm not saying anyone is right or wrong; I don't choose sides. I respect the fact that big things start out small and they really need to be worked on despite the criticisms. But whenever there is hard proof throwing away any theory then you should ditch it like a dog chasing a squirrel carrying a bag of beef jerky. Its called quitting while you're ahead. 2dnoodleman, you can do whatever you want, you don't have to listen to geeogree or anyone else who contradicts you. Government has nothing to do with this at all because you can't satisfy everyone without harming another. There may be fine lines for every person that are different, but that doesn't mean that one or two people or maybe even forty people follow the same line as you, just not everybody.
Don't have to read this: Suppose you have a bag of grain, a fox, and a rooster, but you can only give one thing to another and thats it. You give the grain to the rooster and he is happy, and he runs off, so the fox is left standing there with nothing. On the other hand you give the rooster to the fox and he gobbles him up. There the fox is happy, but the rooster, far from it! And giving the grain to the fox is just a waste of 'capital' because he won't use it so thats out of the question. Everyone has different opinions on different things...like recently the bill for homosexuals that Obama signed didn't cause as much conflict because the majority supported it, but there are still some people out there that completely hated the idea. "if we claim to not know right from wrong, that's because we are ignoring our consciences." So when children cuss, start looking at the opposite sex differently, etc. that is automatically wrong? What if they didn't know it was wrong? What if it is just curiosity or just plain ignorance? Humans need to learn at some point in their life. Therefore you can say you didn't know it was wrong and it would still be under control; you shouldn't freak out if your 10-year-old brother drops the f-bomb. Joebab, if you did the research you would know.
I went to her 'owned' games and found out she played Silver and Crystal. Silver does not have a pop-up when you choose reset. The problem here is that Reset is located directly above the Save and Load options, so it is easy to mis-click. I went to her 'owned' games and found out she played Silver and Crystal. I would also like to add RWT (Real-World Trading) into the discussion, and I feel that RuneScape's measures over it may seem drastic but seems like the right thing to do since you don't actually own anything in the game except your username.
WoW, on the other hand, does next to nothing to stop RWT, and gives away virtual items for real money. Besides this being the owners' choice, it is not a legit way to play any game honorably, and anyone who has bought something in a virtual game which could otherwise be earned through hard work should be ashamed. This whole RWT debate goes very far. It includes identity theft so I am not going to go into details, but Jagex dealt with it professionally. I find irony and truth in this because the real definition of technology suggests that it is supposed to make anything easier for humans and society. It is ironic because the escape happens to be the cause, and true because..well, its true. We are becoming overly dependent on this so-called "society of catch phrases".
The escape is the cause. But to be honest, we are just moving along. The escape is the cause. But to be honest, we are just moving along. |

Games that involve building monuments, running a city, etc.
Wiki described it more as "SimCity in past civilizations with military and economic micromanagement". Some examples: Caesar 1-4 (Roman) Pharaoh (Egypt) Zeus (Greek) (and also some game taking place in Empirial China..I'm too lazy to look up the name of it right now so I'll edit it in later) Some of these are really old classics, and carry out many activities including housing, population, workforce, services, commodities, agriculture, trade and industry, religion, and of course a little military thrown in. The only real thing that brought this up is the fact that I really like one of the games I already named. Pharaoh is fantastic and for a game made by Sierra back in 1999 it goes very deep. Check it out, one of my personal achievements, http://i48.tinypic.com/20ftf9f.jpg (I'll clarify this picture later if need be) Look there are seven, count them, SEVEN Palatial Estates. I just got this today and I was very elated. And to give you an idea on how hard those are to come by: http://strategywiki.org/wiki/Pharaoh/Housing Within ten seconds of taking that screenshot I lost it; my Librarians chose to get lazy. But yeah, never reached it again Anyway, this thread is here to discuss these types of creations and you can also give your own achievements. I would love to see how many of you play these and how far you've been. EDIT#1: Wewt for 25 post Kakuna? There are only two for me: Eagle Eye and Curious George. Don't ask about the latter I just like it LOL They are TOTALLY unrelated movies but every time I watch them it feels like the first time I saw them. Plus they aren't exactly classics, they are pretty new, and I don't see them becoming classics, they're just my own personal fad. I would like to compare the first generation of Pokemon with contemporary compositions in the music field, other classics, from Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, etc.
The fourth generation would compare with the 20th-century dodecaphonics, where, in my opinion, everything I hear seems repetitive, albeit original. TL;DR: First generation because classics are not like pop-culture. What if you were restricted to coffee and not energy drinks? Would you rather not drink that and fall into a deep crash?
EDIT@Didowe: Then why is there a Rasenganfan2 thread, stickied as a matter of fact? Besides, this isn't "ask anything", this is "asking about myself". In other words, you can't ask him how the economy effected the price of eggs. The forum IS titled "Your Forum - Post about Yourself" after all.
