Gosh, it was about a year or so ago, I think. It was literally only a few days before season two was put on Netflix. I remember thinking it would be really stupid, and I put it on partly for my little sister and partly to see what all the fuss was about, and it turns out it was about one of the most amazing children shows ever. Season three was OK for the most part, but I really didn't like the last episode. Although my favorite was the second episode of season two. There's just so much sass in it!

I think using the term "athlete" in that sense is misleading. It does indeed take a great deal of effort to become skilled at a video game, however it is not athletic. Not unless it is physically making you stronger. I personally think they should get their own sub-category of sports, and should fall in with things such as chess and marbles. They are considered to be sports, but not necessarily athletic ones. I also think that they need to not limit the game that they play and consider athletic to just League of Legends. Using that headline that says, in a sense, Video gamers can be considered professional athletes, and then only talking about League of Legends players is extremely unfair to those of us who play other games that are equally as strenuous, if not more. I don't think this article is so much a slap to the face of actual professional athletes so much as it is to gamers who don't play that game.

Also, as I re-read the comments, I noticed that the term "health" came up quite frequently. Health is not just a matter of whether or not you are string or in good shape, it also refers to mental and emotional health. By this standpoint, a professional football player who isn't very smart TECHNICALLY shouldn't be considered an athlete, but is anyway. Is it possible that athleticism simply refers to health in general? And if not, then only someone who is strong, smart, and emotionally in check could be considered an athlete. Unfortunately, I don't really know of anyone who meets all of these standards. Also, if athleticism really only is determined by physical health, shouldn't there be something parallel to it in terms of mental health and emotional health? If so, then that should be what professional gamers should be called. There should also be something like that for people who are very, very emotionally balanced. If there aren't terms for those people that essentially hold mirrored meanings of athletic, then that word should apply to all states of health, not just physical. I'm not saying there aren't words for being super smart or emotionally balanced, I'm just saying there aren't common terms which come up often that relate to them, such as athletic.

Well now, that all depends on your idea of what sports are. If you count swordplay (or any weapon training), rock climbing, yoga, and martial arts as sports, then I do partake a bit in them. But I generally prefer gaming. If you are referring to mainstream sports, then no, I have almost no interest playing or watching them. I sort of have to though, for my band class.

I am constantly being haunted by something that no one else can see or interact with. I hate it at first, but over time accept it and can't imagine life without it.

Honestly, when talking about the SCIENCE behind it, it's not an awkward subject for me, I'm actually fascinated by it. It's more the process by which it happens that Makes me feel awkward. I'm not immature about it, I just find talking about it with other classmates (who tend to joke around VERY INAPPROPRIATELY about it) to be very awkward and disturbing.

Yeah, we really can't afford it. We are basically living off of food stamps. Also:

But, think about it like this: A decent size bag of salad costs around 4 or 5 dollars, and they typically weigh a little less than a pound. However, you could get 10 pounds of potatoes for the same price. Potatoes are not healthy. Not in large amounts. They are only starch, so the only thing they are good for is carbohydrates, much like corn. For people who genuinely cannot afford to eat healthy, they cannot afford eating out either. Not to mention, what you said about the eating out thing. You could buy a healthy dinner like that for about seven to ten dollars. That's about 50 dollars a week. You could actually buy a few burgers from mcdonalds for only 3 dollars, which unless my math is wrong, that's less than seven dollars. It's when people want to buy the fancier fast foods that it actually gets expensive.

On a side note, the only healthy thing we can really afford here is spinach. Fortunately, that's like super health food. It's seriously only 5 dollars for a pound of spinach here. I like to snack on it when we have it, it's a lot more filling than a lot of other food.

My little sister actually has type 1 diabetes, so it's been an adventure for all of us, learning about how to take care of her for the past couple years. It always frustrates me when people talk about diabetes, how they always assume it's type 2, and they don't even know the other even exists. It can get very frustrating.

Yeah, I am also considered rather underweight. I'm almost 16 (my birthday's in a couple months), am 5'8, and weigh 110 lb. Yeah, I don't think this is normal.

Last time I was in a hospital as a patient was the day I was born. My family members are rather frequently admitted to hospitals, though.

When we have healthy food available for snacking on, I would rather have that than junk food.
