You should check out max fleischer's superman, it's from the 1940s.
It has an almost beautiful art style, more so if you're into diesel punk stuff. The stories are alot of fun too, jsut about everything in an episode fits into a romanticized view of the era, but who cares
If you are into jazz/swing there are alot of good cartoons from this time too, granted some of these tend to be horribly unpc tis a shame too.
Most of these you can find on youtube, and if interested check out the banned 11. Its kind of interesting to see the differences in what is and what isn't acceptable between then and now.
There's also a thing/site called tvu. That has streaming vid, some of the channels are dedicated to retro cartoons
I saw one recently that was so bad it was hilarious "journey to the center of the earth" It has to be the inspiration for venture bros. hell, there was a big blonde swedish body guard that had a goose as a side kick for some reason.

Symphony of the night by far, it did all the things i like in games in the same spot, exploring, leveling, collecting, upgrading, finding tricks, great boss battles, good music, etc.. i'm sure most of us know about the game To me it is the last good console castlevania game.

Oddly i like it much more now then i did when it first came out. Granted there has been much added to the zelda universe (in a matter of geeky speaking ) So the campyness of it doesnt seem to be such a stark contrast for at the time was a fairly serious game.
With everything thats been added since, a game done like the cartoon series now would be alot of fun

I like to hack flash games, but i tend to have more fun trying to track down the addies i want to alter then playing the game itself. Although messing with code and save states etc.. is nothing new for me either.
Also Sometimes it's just fun to run amuck without some of the time wasting stuff, farming/grinding etc. Prehacked, thats another thing, thats just lazy

I dont know if it counts but i loved the EVO game, although it was disappointing becoming a caveman, who wants to be a caveman when i used to be a big dinosaur with giant teeth and claws and a tail to smash stuff.

I like rpgs(western or jrpgs) adventure games, and some of the old arcade games.
As far as games to suggest, check out the tg16 (=tg) neutopia 1 and 2 are fun zelda clones theres an eye of the beholder like game called double dungeons, the old order of the griffon game. And if it worked there's an interesting take on rpgs in final lap twin. It has many of the same mechanics and cliches of standard rpgs, with the twist of racing instead of turn based battles, and you get equipment for your car instead of you.

Massive Attack is one of my favorite groups, first heard them on the pi soundtrack, Orbital was on there too, ended up getting into them due to that one.
