Sonic Chaos Quest has to be one of the best Sonic 1 Rom hacks I've played. With similar techno-inspired music from Sonic CD and Sonic 3&K, expanded level sizes, a few modifications to boss battles with Dr Robotnik, excellent background sprites and more use for lesser used features such as falling platforms and crushing spikes, this game stands out best against the rest (though there will be no Rom hack game that can compare as "the best" to me as the original games). There are few cons to this game which you'll notice quickly: some of the revamped boss battles can be quite difficult at first (a few tries and you'll ace them for later plays) and there's twice the amount of badniks, which will make beginner players frustrated. Having completed this game twice, I can tell you all that it takes approximately an hour to complete, slightly more than a Sonic 1 run (if you complete the zones in under 2-3 minutes that is). Most classic Sonic fans should enjoy this game even if there's some difficulty at first. To end this review, I strongly recommend all players complete Sonic 1 first or make it past Oil Ocean in Sonic 2 as this is a intermediate to advanced platformer that will take more than a half hour to complete.

I meant to say "complete acts under 2-3 minutes" not zones for an average Sonic 1 run in my review. If you can make it through a zone in under 2-3 minutes you definitely have some sharp speed running skills!
