In olden days, people used to live and work according to the movements of the sun. When the sun rose, people would work, and when the sun set, it was too dark to work so people would sleep. However, after the invention of the light bulb, people began to work without rest and nowadays, people will even work 24/7 without stopping due to the demands of their workplace or just to receive a special bonus. Oftentimes, they don't even get enough rest before they go right back to working somewhere dangerous. In addition to risks of injury, accidents and errors, people don't tend to perform as efficiently, no matter what their age or levels of skill are, and they tend to "burn out" even when they have greater stamina compared to everyone else.
Thus, the question is...
Do you think today's society is putting too much of a premium on "want it now!" and "get it done now!" at the expense of everyone's health? If so, is there something that we, as the current generation of living beings, can do to remedy all of the issues that have extended into just about every aspect of society, including politics, employment and education?
Personally, I don't think it's a coincidence that we have been moving towards an era of automation in an effort to cut costs and reduce stress on humans, but even robots require maintenance from humans and systems need to be checked regularly by humans to make sure they're not being compromised. Thus, do you think that this era of automation we are moving towards is actually as beneficial for humans as many people have been making it out to be? In other words, are we actually getting more work done in less time, or are we really just making more work for ourselves?
