So im really new to Roms, and im wondering how I set up WiFi for DS roms, or if I even need to at all. Im playing Pokemon Platinum, so I want to know if my friend could download the Rom aswell, and then link up with me.

Nope, there's no feature for WiFi with emulators at this time as far as I know.
I'll keep looking around though and let you know if I find a DS emulator with WiFi support enabled.
