Hi I recently started using Visualboy advance, and while playing pokemon crystal, I always used file -> save game to save, but when I exited out of visualboy and tried to load my save, there was nothing there.

Am I supposed to save like this, or am I doing something wrong?

Pokemon Crystal can use the in game save with VBA, so all you need do is save in game then when you want to play the game again load the rom and play as normal.
In other words, it acts like the real thing would in a gameboy.

There is another way to save, which is probally the one you were using.
You were probally using save sates, to load the save state, start the rom and then try and load the save.

I'm writing this post from memory so the bit about save states might not be 100% acurate, but the first bit I mentioned (about in game saves) works for sure.

Oh wow I feel like an idiot now, Im very new to ROM's and I had no clue you could use the built in save.

Thanks alot.

One other thing, with NO$GBA, do you use the built in save feature for a game like Pokemon HeartGold, because I dont see another save option in the file or any other part of the interface.

No worries, we all start somewhere
For Pokemon HeartGold you can use in game saves as well so long as you are using No$gba 2.6a.
That's the version on Get-your-rom so if you have that you're good to go.
Let me know if you have any problems with it and I'll look into them for you

Swaga727 : this happens to me alot, when you save your game its makes a file on your computer when you to your game click load instead of load game and look for the file in your computer and just click on it when you find it. If you do not wand to do this just make sure that the file is in the same folder as your rom. And also when you open the rom whatever you choose to pick between open gameboy and open always open it the same way
