I used them for years and became proficient with them, but not in the traditional way, just in a way that makes me good at eating ramen.
Now I'm so sick of eating Ramen I don't really have a use for them, plus I think most of them are lost anyway.
They"re really fun to use though, they make forks look boring.

I have only used chopsticks once before and it wasn't even at a Chinese food restaurant. This was a long time ago so I barely remember, but I know that it was at someone's house and we ate dinner there using chopsticks. I'm sure that I wasn't very good at it XD I think I'd like them and it would be an interesting and new way to eat Chinese food.

Sadly, whenever I go out to eat at a Chinese buffet or my family cooks Chinese food at home, we never use chopsticks. We just use a fork for everything That family's idea to have their child use chopsticks to become more culturally aware, was a good idea in my opinion. I often feel like I'm too caught up in doing what I'm used to doing instead of learning how other cultures and types of people live.

If I was watching an American family use chopsticks to eat their Chinese food, they would appear to me as mindful and courteous of other cultures

I rarely use chopsticks since I rarely eat food "proper" for such utensils. But when I go to East Asian restaurants I try using chopsticks if they are not readily disposable (what a waste). I think I have pretty good dexterity, although nighri are still hard to lift because the rice and fish separate easily
