I have to respectfully disagree with everyone who is saying the Kubrick version of the The Shining, as a stand alone movie it is great, but there are some big flaws.

1. It went way too far off from the original story. It was like Kubrick just wanted to make money off of the Stephen King name. I found the made for TV version much better than the original.

2. Jack Nicholson's last movie before The Shining was "One flew over the cuckoo's nest". Normally this wouldn't be such a big deal, but the entire point of The Shining is supposed to be a pretty normal guy's slow descent into madness, after Cuckoo's nest everyone knows Jack could be crazy.

As for my favorite I have to go with Scream. It totally revolutionized and saved the horror genre from being a straight to DVD deal. Plus more or less it really could happen in real life.

'Ringu.' The japanese version of 'The Ring.' I loved the movie. I was at home when I got bored. "A good horror movie might be good right now." I thought. So I popped 'Ringu' in.
Did I mention that it was 00:00 AM?

Well the one I love the most isn't really that scary but The Devils Rejects and House of 1000 Corpses are my favorite horror movies.

The original Richard Donner version of The Omen is one of the best scary wise. I really like the Bela Lugosi and Christopher Lee Dracula's.

I'd have to say Killer Klowns From Outer Space is my favorite horror movie. I mean come on! They're killer clowns! FROM OUTER SPACE! It's hilarious! You shoot their noses and their heads spin around violently explode! It's got a great balance of horror and comedy I think.

The Exorcist because that's one of the few movies that has a head-turning moment in it. Normally nothing makes me turn my head and gag, but when the girl started stabbing herself with the crusafix in a bad place I had to turn away.

It was kind of the reaction a guy gets when they see a man get kicked in the crotch on t.v.

The other two movies that have head-turning moments are Hostel and The Grudge. The eyeball scene in Hostel gets me and the missing jaw in The Grudge gets me.

Annette : you watched The Human Centipede?!? Did you actually watch it the entire way through???

That one made me sick.... I could not finish it. I think the scariest thing about a movie like that is I can imagine someone in this world attempting something like that.... maybe not that exactly... but something like it. Absolutely disgusting.
