Hi there. I wanted to know what FF is all about, because I want to try it next week.

Well none of the games in the series have anything to do with each other in terms of storyline and sometimes even the battle system is completely different. Like Final Fantasy XI is a mmorpg while all the other ones are regular RPG's. If you plan on buying any of them I'd go with either Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy Tactics, Final Fantasy VIII, or Final Fantasy VIII. For the ones on here I'd go with either V or VI. But for the love of god don't play XII first. In my opinion the worst game in the series because the battle system is so crappy, in my opinion at least, only try that game after you've played through one of the others.

There isn't any exact story that links FF games together.
In fact each game is really a stand alone game seperate from the others except for the direct sequels.
FF is basically a series of turn based RPGs in which you have a party of chosen people (usually a swordman, a magic user, a healer and one other type) that meet under strange circumstances and have to save the world.
So pretty much like any other RPG really.

But if you are specifically talking about the first game, here's some info.
FF1 is about 4 "warriors of light" who are starting on a journy to "rid the world of evil" and such.
They enter a kingdom and answer the call the king has put out to find heroes to save his daughter.
The warriors of light go and save the kings daughter and he rewards them by building a bridge so they can get off the small island nation they are on and explore the world.
The usual thing happens, they fight bad guys and save the world.

I would start by playing FF1 for nes, FF4 (also sometimes called FF2) for snes and FF6 (also sometimes called FF3) for snes.

Is there a FF game for the GBA?

There are quite a few actually. I know that that the first 6 were remade for it (at least I think they were..maybe not III but still). They also have Tactics for GBA too. All good

I know for a fact that V, VI, Tactics Advance are. Im not sure about the other ones though. Although they have them all on their original system and there's not much difference between the old ones and the remakes.

I have no idea what you're talking about. I'm new to FF, and that made no sense to me.

It's one of the easiest in the series, but the story is sub par, the graphics are bad and as I said it's easier.
Not something I look for in a RPG, and definately one you should not play until you have played more RPGs and can understand the difference between a really good RPG and an easy one that anyone can play.

Ok. Got it. Who is this Cloud?

Main character from FF7, he's just a guy who loses his memory and thinks he is someone else because he is crazy from radiation poisoning.
A bit bland compared to other stories.
Like Cecil (FF4), the dark knight who slays an entire village for his king then gets banished when he argues if it was really needed to commit such an act.
Or Terra (FF6), the half human that is forced to work for an evil empire, using her magic to help them take over the world, until she is freed from her slavery by an esper (spirit).
Or even Tidus (FF10), the boy who is sucked into a destroyed future by a demon creature called Sin and becomes a guardian for a summoner.

Sounds like a Gothic novel So, which is the most violent?

FF isn't really a "violent" series. I've only played the games on the major consoles, and of those I've play for a lengthy time I'd say FF7 had a darker atmosphere than the rest. I guess you could say certain things and events in the game were a little violent.

in my opinion, in final fantasy x (10), Auron seems a bit weird and crazy, but on the other hand, he was a very wicked fighter, until you find out his big secret, the one where you find out he is actually a ghost

I agree...save yourself for XII until you're ready to be disappointed in the FF series. I also agree...start with XIII first, or maybe XII. I always feel that people don't want to play XII after the other FFs because of the graphics, but you must see beyond that and look towards the story. X and X-2 go hand in hand, so they would be good to start with too.
