Watch Sega do the same thing. But seriously why hacks though? It's not like hacks are for profit, and playing the original Nintendo games over and over again get really boring. I've played every single Pokemon game Nintendo every released, and I even own plenty of hard copies. But without hacks I spend my time elsewhere, not playing Pokemon.

Oh, no. A company, whose primary purpose is to make money, has taken down something that would affect their money-making capabilities. And it's within their legal right to do so.
Clearly they are horrible, irredeemable monsters.

KingofRPG : I don't really think these games hurt them financially. Most of the games that they had me take down aren't even available on the virtual console (especially not the hacks) and they don't make money off of old retro games anymore since they no longer produce them. If anything, sites like Vizzed helps game companies because it makes these old games and franchises relevant rather than allowing them to be lost and forgotten.

Whaaaaaaaat?!I can't believe this!At first I thought it was an April fools prank until I remembered April isn't for another 14 days.

If this is true, I am very disappointed at Nintendo.Why can't companies just focus on trying to encourage people to buy the games they want them to buy, instead of going the lazy cruel route of just making sure they can't play anything else.

If Nintendo wants people to keep buying it's old games over and over again, then they had better give us good reason to do so.If they can't give people proper incentive to buy their product again, they just try to make sure they have to.Heck, they'd probably try to keep anyone from playing their own physical games if they could.

In my opinion, this really speaks for the mind-set of people like this, when you claim to want to bring joy to people by entertaining them, then take that away from them if you're not getting paid for it.I mean, really?Cant you just let us have our fun?It wont kill you.Though, heck, sometimes I think these guys breathe money.

The games that were owned by Nintendo in the first place don't really make me THAT angry (still a little tipped off though), I mean they do have a right to do it even if they don't make any money from the game anymore, but all the hacks? Nintendo didn't even make those hacks, even if the hacks are using some of the same code from the original game.

And some of those games I was probably going to use the RGR plugin to one day make a guide of ><. Well, hopefully I can still make a guide of it even if I can't play the game via Vizzed :p.

This will deal a large hit to vizzed whether we want to admit it or not.

They shouldn't have no business here, they don't receive any profit from a vast majority of these games, which have only been purchased by the masses in used game stores for over 10 years now. 10 years with nearly no profit directly to them, save the VERY LIMITED library of virtual console games. Shoot, when I buy retro games, I go out of my way to make sure Nintendo doesn't get a dime. I've always known that Nintendo of America is run by a bunch of baboons, but this is the last straw.

You know, I don't care what those idiots in Japan say, Nintendo is going down the tube. They don't understand that we actually mind it when we have to pay the 2001 retail price of some crap game so we can play it. That's what makes vizzed great, you can really browse the entire catalog.
And there are plenty of other sites that offer these games that won't be targeted, they aren't as popular. Nor are they half as decent as this one.

Legal jargon be damned, Nintendo is a mess. And they don't seem to be redeeming themselves any time soon. So what if they are "technically" right. It's the cooperation against the people. And no matter what we want, money always comes out on top.

So thanks, Nintendo. Thanks for nothing.

Nintendo has forgotten what made them great in the first place. Innovation,listening to the players,integrity. They are so hung up on Pokemon that they can't see the forest for the trees. They have a clunky controller/screen,limited third party support,making people pay to relive their memories when they can it for free or without any of Nintendo's strings. They have a terrible reputation with streamers,now they want a dedicated Nintendo stream to which they can monetize. Nintendo is becoming the Walt Disney of electronic entertainment. Evil wrapped up in a pretty Mario/Pokemon wrapper.

There is a quote you should learn,Nintendo.

This has got to be one of the most stupid decisions that Nintendo has ever made in my opinion! I seriously considered quitting vizzed after seeing some of my favorite Super Mario World Rom hacks of all time had been removed from the site! I'm not quitting though because there are still plenty of good sonic the hedgehog games that are still on the site (luckily). The picture in my post pretty much sums up my reaction to this extremely terrible news.

Davideo7 : If I were rich, I promise you, I would try and help, not only with the financial situation, but maybe to fight this kind of crap. I mean honestly, Nintendo, let's think about this. Those games aren't costing you hardly any profits because lets face it, you aren't producing those games anymore. What you are doing is getting some advertisement from Vizzed.

For example: Someone plays Fire Emblem Sacred Stones (was in the middle of this. ) This person happens to search 'Fire Emblem' on the internet, and what do you know? You get the sale of another Nintendo 3DS and Fire Emblem Fates, possibly multiple versions of that, and maybe even Fire Emblem Awakening.

So screw Nintendo right now, I'm going to find a way to send a complaint.

Nintendo has done shady *Trying to be nice here so I'll censor that -stuff before, including and not limited to Twitch Streams/You tube Videos, among other things. 

You know it's sad when not even Ubisoft nor EA will stoop to that level, I mean seriously Nintendo has been around for 100 years you would think by now they would have good business sense. 

I play on Vizzed and Retroachivements/Another site and you know what? Not only did I pick up games after playing with the emulators, but I had also bought merchandise.
 
I don't know what Nintendo really was thinking when they did this it's mainly the reason people pirate, if you force DMCA and Take Down notices along with "One Chance Online cards- Like, for instance Ubisoft is known for this. 
Along with Video Game Copy Protection nonsense, people are going to pirate.  
The more expensive the product, the more it’s pirated. 

Especially with Nintendo items/and other countries not being able to get it, a lot of things being left in Japan/Korea or what have you, that sucks severely for collectors or people that enjoy a certain series/manga/anime whatever. 
On this matter I bring up Oceanic gamers more so then others because of their heavy restrictions on what can get over there. 

Barathemos : Because Nintendo likes having more revenue from releasing the same game 3 times, then re-releasing at least 2 same upgraded version of those games. Plenty of examples: [Red, Blue, Yellow - Fire Red, Leaf Green] ; [Gold, Silver, Crystal - Heart Gold, Soul Silver] ; [Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald - Alpha Sapphire, Omega Ruby]... Ok, the last pack had a LOT of improvements and addons, but still the same main story.
The point is, if the old versions are available on the internet, they won't make as much a profit. Sad, but they have the rights to it, and there's nothing we can do... Until the trademark/copyright registration expires anyways. That'll take a while considering they're still making games from these series, and probably always will.

Correct me if I am wrong,but if you own the original copy of the game,you can post it without penalty,right?

We might be losing Pokemon, Mario, Zelda, and Metroid but there are so many more great games that are still left untouched.

We can't be surprised by this action. I mean this is the same company that did take downs on youtube videos showcasing their games, then made that dumb creator program to allow people the permission to post videos on their games. Nintendo has focused on their legacy so much that they keep reselling their games with or without upgrades. They to create new IPs and stop being stingy about everything so be brought into the future (or something like).

This reminds me of when they cut support on the original wii to hustle people along into buying the wii u.  I don't understand why Nintendo feels the need to be so closed off.  I'll still be visiting the site daily and like the man said there are still over 42k games.  It shouldn't be too hard to find some different games to play.

omg, I found this site through 007 as it was a game I owned, later stolen during a house robbery. I don't understand why renting one of your digital copies qualifies as a breech of trust.
