I play in total darkness - shut all the lights off and put a blanket over the windows to make sure no light is coming in.

for intense action games or shooters I turn the volume to a super abnormal level so that I practically am blowing my roommates out of the house

I also do the feet/legs shaking

and lastly, I continually talk (sometimes yell or curse) at the screen hoping that some point it will will talk back to me and tell me I'm playing well.
