Vanelan :

  1. yes, I mean this for everyone though.
  2. I think something like a daily Viz post competition or something that could do. But then again I'm not sure(because that'd might interfere with the RGR competitions)
  3. #SchoolDroolz
  4. I wish I knew,  I'm not the one complaining about trusted membership. I have seen it from time to time, even members threatening to leave over that rank.    The least I Know: Extra forum,  Dotted username,  Profile background access and advanced layout editor.
  5. Fine, I got almost 160k viz, so It won't be hurting me

SuperCrash64 : Well that's my point about the TP rank. You get a few extras, but it's nothing worth getting bent outta shape over or quitting over.

If everyone posts at least 10 posts a day, then we would have a lot more activity. :p

maguc : Why do you think the community sucks?

A user of this : I have to agree with what you said about chat, it can really feel like a big clique a lot of the time (that goes for all of the site to some extent but much more so chat than anything else)- Though  I think one thing to note about the community though is since the main demographic visiting are often teens and adolescents I think it's just bound to be more likely to happen that things result in fighting and such sometimes but yeah that doesn't mean we shouldn't try making an effort to improve on things.

To add on to what user said I feel we could do a better job of trying to be more... Accepting of newbies. I feel like a lot of members are quick to judge people in particular those who just took time to post on the forums and I feel that  could turn away a lot of people. Not going to mention names here but an example I've seen is members who posted a review as one of their first possibly even their first post only to be very heavily criticized by active members of the community which really seems like it would make it so people who are already unsure about whether to post or not just give up on the idea altogether. I feel like how the trusted status is made out to be such a big deal to newbies contributes to this as well. I feel like the TdV could use a lot of changes in this regard too, to encourage people new to the site to actually participate because as it stands now it is near impossible for a new member to win the green/red jerseys as well as the rainbow banner.

I feel like this is really to address the more overarching issue of lack of new members who actually stick around which in my mind is the main thing that needs to be remedied. That said I do feel it has improved in this regard compared to last year as have activity in general but with the fact of no one even winning the white banner last month still shows that this is a problem.

Vanelan : A lot of people just don't find enough threads and stuff that interest them to post 10 times a day. I'll admit that while I do have sprees when I can far exceed that some days I think I'd find it hard to consistently post 10 times a day for several months. Now if I as a an active member of the forum and a local moderator feel that way I'd imagine it would be much more the case for some of the newer members who aren't really as used to the idea of forums in general. Besides while activity is of course a part, I think the focus should be more on just making the community in general a fun and welcoming one to be part of. As for the trusted system I would refer to what I mentioned just before this, while it's true that it doesn't really have too much of a difference purely technically I'd say the problem lies more in how it is portrayed as such a big deal by the community and based on what is said about it on the site, I know a lot of members have said they used to feel that way and I did myself for a long time before becoming trusted.

Zlinqx : I don't think its too hard for people to be accepted in chat. We have a few newbies that seem to have fit in rather well.

As for topics to post in, if there isn't something interesting, people need to create threads to get people posting  about their interests.

Vanelan : There have been some joining recently but really I'd say there are actually a lot of newbies who try come into chat and then leave only to not return because of that. Of course I'd say that the Viz cost is part of that as well since Viz is typically more valuable to newbies who come here for games and want the PSX item. As far as posting I don't think that's an expectation we should place on new people, adding onto what I already said about many already being unsure about posting and not really being used to it therefore sometimes being kind of shy. The site should be fun not a responsibility on their part they probably don't know a lot of people on here either so they'd  also have less motivation to post. It's on us more long standing members in particular staff+ to make them feel welcomed and help show them why posting is fun.

It is great.

I can play games, make posts and netplay!

Nothing wrong with vizzed at all!

All it needs more is more game systems (ZX Spectrum, BBC Micro, Amstrad Cpc)

And i have great friends.

fearlessjazp567, Out!

I'm fine with it as it is, I really don't see any necessary changes that need to be made to the site. But then again, I tend to adapt and get used to everything so maybe there is something we need that I'm just not seeing.

Vizzed was a great idea a few years ago but it has slowly gotten more and more pointless. The RGR plugin is literally just a 600 MB package that includes a whole bunch of emulators, 90% of which you'll never use, and connects the emulators to Vizzed. And, though I don't totally like this, as retro video games get older and older, newer generation kids care less and less about them.

Netplay is great, but let's be honest. The netplay server is horrible. If you download separately the actual netplay emulators, every server works perfectly fine and desyncs are quite rare. And this is coming from someone whose lowest ping is on the Vizzed server (<30 ms).

The boards are a lot friendlier, less psycho and out-of-control, and with funner threads than almost every other forum out there. Also the Vizzed Market is a steal, I have gotten countless free things from it, but lately the value of Viz has gone down considerably and it's hard to get anything in the market anymore.

In my opinion, the best part of Vizzed is the community. We all have one hobby in common: Video games. And the overall idea of the website, a family-friendly any-age website where we can discuss anything I feel like just makes everyone seem a lot nicer here. You won't see people cussing you out or too many people being jerks.

So overall, I think the main features and attractions to the site are getting very dull, but the community is great and the boards are fun.

fearlessjazp567 : I'd be happy with Amiga myself, but the emulators for it kinda suck. WinUAE is OK at best...

TheFadedWarrior : We definitely need more servers for netplay.

If anyone wants to try it, my netplay server is always up.
Just enter vanelan.crabdance.com into the custom server box when creating a netplay game.
Might be a faster alternative for people in Eastern US.

I think this site is about as close to perfection as anyone on this earth could pull off.
And for everyone who feels its not up to snuff, why don't you put in some effort to make the changes you want instead of bashing the site in the forums and expecting the staff to satisfy your expectations. I realize not everyone here is like that, just some food for thought for those reading this.

MrBeingcool1 : Just a side note, on your first post it says "let" David make changes. Does that mean you have some authority over him? Lol.

On the other side, i meant by request, so i think i shouldn't ask him to change things. I don't even feel like i have the mood to even contact him.
