Hello all! I am Joey W. It's been awhile since I made a game review so bear with me!
First of, the graphics: I gave the graphics a 10. The graphics, compared to other GBA games, were amazing. The animations were also very good. I could have many complaints about the graphics, but for when this game was created, they are very good.
Secondly, the sound. Pokémon has better music than any game, period. Or, that's at least my opinion. This game's graphics were phenomenal. I could honestly listen to the soundtrack for a very long time, and you will because it is very, very repetitive. Lavender town is my favorite though. Despite all of the many spooky stories on creepypasta, it is very well composed. Overall, the soundtrack deserved a 10.
Addictiveness: As much as I love reality, this game was really addictive. I played this over a long period of time, not just in one sitting. When I took a hiatus from playing, the moment I beat Sabrina, I couldn't put the game down. I could not wait to play this as soon as I stopped, so, I gave it a 10.
Story: I've been playing Pokémon since I was in elementary school. I've beat Pokémon for what seems as hundreds of times(which is a little bit of hyperbole). I've beaten fire red countless amount of times. Why you ask, Well, the story is great. Aside from the usual beat the gym leaders and then beat the elite four, Fire Red offers the best after game storyline in every Pokémon game. I really enjoyed it the first time I beat, which seems like many moons ago, and I enjoyed beating it again. I had to give it a 10.
Depth: Pokémon is famous for the myriad of things to do. Catch all the Pokémon (which currently cannot be done on this fantastic website), beat the elite four, and complete every after game option which may include defeating all of the legendaries. This game was also special because of the addition of the Sevii Islands. The depth was amazing so I gave it a perfect score here.
Difficulty: Pokémon isn't the most difficult of games, and that is a good thing. I tried to run a monoPokemon challenge, if that's even what it's called. Of course, I can't do that because of the stress on HMs in this game. However, my Venusaur was at least 20+ levels above all the opposing Pokémon (except Mewtwo). Other than that, the Elite Four is difficult to run with one Pokémon and catching the legendaries were difficult, but the story and depth made it all the worthwhile. So, I gave it a 3.
Overall, after averaging the score and a little rounding, Pokémon Fire Red earned a 9.7/10. I strongly recommend this game to everyone and I hope you enjoyed this review. Till next time, peace! Hello all! I am Joey W. It's been awhile since I made a game review so bear with me!
