So, we knew this thread's day would surface eventually - and it finally has.

The question is a simple one: What's the best Final Fantasy game in your opinion? Want to go the extra mile; explain why it's the best - or at least your favorite.

To get the party started, I'll share my favorite Final Fantasy that to me personally is the best.

Final Fantasy X

Why? Because it was absolutely stunning for its time. Fully voice acted, amazing story that makes a man punch walls to regain manliness after playing, blitzball, and the turn based combat system. If you take anything from my opinion is to why I think FFX was the best, it's the combat system. I personally love to be able to strategize and out think the opponent. It's arguable that the late game is brought down by the fact that "Quick hit" is overpowered, and you're right. Leading up to that though, the sphere grid level up system seriously puts the control in your hands - allowing the customization you want and need for your team.

Skilledtree : I'm gonna have to go with Final Fantasy VI. The characters, soundtrack, and story are all just incredible. For a game for the SNES, the game also knows how to pull at players heartstrings. I still think Celes' suicide attempt is one of the most heartbreaking scenes in video game history, especially since it comes right after the world ends.

While also being rather melancholic, at times the game is rather upbeat as well. Who didn't at the very least chuckle when Locke was introduced? Or when Sabin suplexes a train?! And no, that's not a joke.

I praised the soundtrack earlier, but I may as well again, FFVI in my personal opinion has the best soundtrack of any video game, ever. Terra's theme, Dancing Mad, The Opera theme, the fast paced battle theme that gets you pumped.

The game also may have the most evil villain of all time in an RPG. Kefka Palazzo. A man so evil he killed his commander just to become a God, and even when he becomes a God, he still kills innocent people with his Light of Judgement attack all because he's bored. All for some foolish excitement. Nothing more, nothing less. And when the party finally defeats him at the end of the game, you feel it. You've killed one of the most evil characters in fiction.

As stated, I believe FFVI is the best game in the series because of what I listed, there's even more reasons, but that's the gist. FFVI is a game that must be played. There's a big debate going on of whether video games can be considered an art form, and I believe FFVI proves that yes, video games are indeed a form of art.

I'm going to have to say that Final Fantasy VII is my favorite game in the series. The game has some of the most memorable characters in gaming, the plot is absolutely incredible, and for the first time, we were able to see what a blockbuster JRPG looks like in 3D. While I firmly believe Kefka from VI is the better villain than Sephiroth, everything else about Final Fantasy VII is better than VI in my eyes. The soundtrack is one of the best I've ever heard, and there was an amazing selection of minigames throughout the game as well. There are more reasons I could list, but I think I've done enough to make my point that FF VII is my favorite game in the series.

Honestly my favorite is Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII-

The best part of the final fantasy vii series. The game mechanics and characters are great.

Zack has so much more personality than cloud I almost wish I could alter the original

Also cissnei is hawt

Final Fantasy Tactics Advance was my most nostalgic Final Fantasy game, because the first mobile console I had was the GBA SP, plus I'm all about strategy gaming and it reminded me of chess as well, and the isometric grid layout, the colorful sprites and backgrounds, and the good music. This was my first FF game and it made me overjoyed to learn more about it.

Since then I've only played FFIV, and FFXII It's hard to decide which final fantasy game is best, as I've seen a few more that caught my attention. I am stuck between FFXII and FFXIII-2 (played the demo only so far) at the moment.

Despite an uninteresting story and a complicated junction system, I still prefer VIII over all the others. I am still in AWE before the intro movie (for the music, sound effects and animations) that was the best ever done up to that point. The rest of the soundtrack is also very good, from a 60s version of the Chocobo Theme to an interesting track for a sidequest (Triple Triad, Shuffle or Boogie) and to very epic battle themes.

X is not far behind though. The story was much better, the soundtrack had excellent arrangements and awesome graphics. But I can not put it at number one because the voice acting got annoying a few times (Tidus' voice was too high-pitch for my taste).

I think my favorite was Final Fantasy III for the Super Nintendo. That game was amazing. It was so long and had many different and unique characters. I also liked the difficulty of the game. Some parts were quite easy and some were much harder. It had a good balance and a great plot for a game, especially for the time it came out. I also really enjoyed the music.

magimangr : Ugh, tell me about the difficulty level! I died a few times trying to escape the falling continent because of those battles you could not get away from.

Oh...this is going to be hard its either 9 or 10. I did love the others too. However these two touched me more in a way. Maybe because of the story line that it is a bit similar in a way love wise. 9 was a medieval while 10 was a very much different approach of its own way. And that's why most people still love ff10 till this day. Most people have their fav and have their reasons not to like one final fantasy. Like for instance I dislike final fantasy 12. I did like it as first. But then the storyline didn't make any sense I did love the game play but the story didn't really explain on how ff12 was meant to be to me. ^-^

Skilledtree : I am honestly torn in between I and XII.

I: The game was very complete and was the first in the series. It was the start to the FF series even though its name would suggest otherwise. Its name is actually quite the interesting story which can be found here http://www.wired.com/2009/07/final-fantasy/ ...but I digress from that rambling. The gameplay was intriguing and it was still in the well-known art style.

XII: This game is equally as wonderful as the last I describe. One key difference is that now there is an even more open world format without betraying the RPG elements. It also got rid of the pesky random encounters which had to be one of the worst parts of the series. It also had a solid storyline, and to top it all off had equally solid characters.

In the end both are great.... Either are better than the newest ones... They are more of hack n' slashes now. *sigh*

I am conflicting between Final Fantasy IV and VII, I love the classic game, and the remake available on Steam even more, but Final Fantasy VII had such a good story. I think Final Fantasy VII will surpass IV when the remake comes out in 2017, but XV might even surpass VII when that is released
