Try using VisualBoy Advance, it's better for Gameboy Advance games and you should have less troubles with cheat codes.

You don't have to worry about your save file, it should work fine with VBA as the saves are universal.
Try using VisualBoy Advance, it's better for Gameboy Advance games and you should have less troubles with cheat codes.
