Destruction and madness are the main things people think about when it comes to a national crisis or in some strange people's minds....an apocalypse! Whom would think that someone like me could invoke such a tragedy right? *Gets up from ground limping and severely injured* All of it started off like this, a normal day that turned into madness, trying to stay alive with every ounce of life I had inside me. You'd think things could slowly start to get better, after having recovered from that massive nightmare that I had awoken from upon the crumbled ground around myself. *flips to next page's panel* Turns out while I was incapacitated inside my friends healing suite things were wreaking havoc outside...druggies, rapes, murders and many others were outside just waiting to pick innocents off. Some started off as just some street vermin and now they've controlled most of the entire district, creating reckless control and the government to spill in and clear it all up with a fabricated story of sorts. Things are now a free-for-all with your life and that's how each side intends it to stay. *electricity sparks from quills and hands* I won't let that happen, time to put a stop to this! *jumps off building*

~~__ Not the most appealing to one's eyes; but fairly average for a system's beginning __~~

I'll be blatantly honest with you guys and say that the graphics definitely are NOT the best you can expect from this system. As many games on Sony's Library can trump it such as: God of War III, Metal Gear Solid 4, and laugh if you want....Little Big Planet 1 or 2. The best way I can define it for you (as I know I'm probably not making any sense to those of you whom can think logically) is that the game looks better than any PS2 game you might find; although, it kind of feels like what you may expect from a beta PS3 game early into the systems release. The average area's/town's that you'll venture through are relatively large for how you'll be landscaping around, whether it's running on foot while bashing into enemies or grinding and electrifying your way across power lines there will be a lot for you to adventure around and see. Most buildings however, are mostly simplistic of what you'd typically see in a game genre like this. (similar to how buildings had no face value in GTA amongst character and vehicles)
Moving onto character designs however, I'd say they definitely live up well to how the story is supposed to be playing out. To give you an example of what I mean, there's a character in the game whom is your best buddy known as Zeke Dunbar. He's basically the class clown of anyone you'll encounter in this game, always cracking jokes here and there or just the way he looks at things illogically most of the time. Due to this they gave him a look where you know he can mean business or knows how to handle certain situations at time; however, with the 70's kind of vibe he has going (golden "Elvis-like" glasses) and his coat looking like a mix of a militia and rich disco DJ...I think it's safe to say that they matched the personalities of the characters nicely to the designs they're made up of. I'm sure the details here might get a little boring for you so  what'd you say to "sparking" things up a bit with some visual examples to peak some interest? *shoots bolts of electricity at generator, lighting up Viz Board*

          ``''~~ Neon District_-_~~''

Now while the graphics may not be as impressive as what you could expect, In terms of visual appeal to one's story...it's very well designed. What I mean by that is as we see very early into the game, a spherical object is sent and activated by our "protagonist" causing mass destruction upon Empire City and its 3 districts. Upon looking at said destruction, we take a look at the starting point of our journey with the Neon District. A once bright and open town with eye-catching scenery of casino's and tv tower's galore...is now really almost identical; however, the only difference is that those shinning cinema lights you saw before are now surrounded by rubble and broken buildings side-by-side instead of theater seats with wonderfully arched patios and arrangements. If you can't get a nice example from this imagine "Station Square" from Sonic Adventure before and after "Chaos" goes rampant, you remember that bright lively filled world? Well just like this district it's been reduced to rubble almost everywhere with few operational buildings and the others being abandoned due to the danger from before, or...they're just destroyed in one segment and are clinging on by the few foundation pieces that the area has left.

             |_|!!!=== Comic Book Scenes ===!!!/_/

*Jumps from district page to next furthest panel* Haaa....hooo they don't make these thing easy, not sure how that Zone Comix guy did this without hesitation? Either way, yes you didn't read my intro for this segment wrong, so pull that mouth up off the floor. (it's already bad enough just seeing how ruined the ground is already) I can understand the surprise reaction though, not many games these days typically go for the whole DC/Marvel kind of comic design you saw during the 80's and 90's (possibly even before) so to see something like that with this current generation is strange yet somehow satisfying at the same time. Especially since is rotates back and forth between the comic book style and the semi-realistic look the game tries to pull off with its characters as well. Thrusting back onto subject though...when watching these animated comic style scenes play out not only can it trigger some nostalgia for players; but, it also let's you see the character from two different perspectives both showing the characters struggle from a normal perspective and a deeper more emotional perspective in the panel switching slides you see in the other format this game through. One thing to note if you're worried about how the characters may appear in this style then no need to worry, it's not like a really retro Superman kind of feel where you can clearly see the lines drawn for its artwork or the edges around characters used for the paneling. It actually looks really decent and almost like a higher definition look behind the characters shown in the story it tells out from page to page if that makes any sense?

I think that's good enough to end this part off with as like I know, it's not good if I overcharge you all if information as just like the circuit towers above you could explode and fry from too much info at one time. Looking at everything here it's fair to say that the game deserves a 7 out of 10 for graphics as it's definitely not the best or close to the best looks that you can get form this system; although, with the creativity it employs you have to give it some average credit as seen above. Let's move on! *Grinds across electric lines to next section*

           |___!Inventive and unique soundtrack, does it hold well for its time?/!___|

So we've seen that the graphics don't fare to well over time compared to most games on the system, now it brings us up to the second main thing about a game that's noticed first...the soundtrack! How does this one fare with other games on the PS3 at the "current" time? Well this one actually depends more so on taste as the games soundtrack mostly has a dark tone behind it or just sounds depressive/downer similar to "Daily Agony" from Shenmue, so if you're not a fan of that format then you probably won't rate this high or listen to the games audio that often if you play. To me the soundtrack works very well with the games story and characters; and yet, I still don't think it can beat other games soundtrack like: "Metal Gear Solid 4, Borderlands, or Final Fantasy series" I do feel though that it does at least match up to those games by a tiny margin. Onto the next main point before we get onto our examples, which is the voice acting of characters or just the sound effects you'll be hearing throughout this sucker punched game. In my honest opinion even though the sound quality may not be the best at times (almost sounding like late PS2 era) the voices for each character I believe are spot on, each one sounds exactly like what you'd think from their personality.
To give you a picture of what I mean we said that your buddy Zeke is like a 70's Elvis kind of goofball as seen with his personality, he's ALWAYS cracking a joke or his southern kind of accent makes things seems silly when he talks. Like what would you expect to hear your partner say when you're sitting there running for the food supply that should be dropping in front of the square of the district? How about: "hey you remember that time when we got drunk and I had to take a leak, the cop tried pulling us over and he told me to put my hands up? I peed all over him and we got away, hehe AWESOME!!" x3 what kind of friend is that?! Only makes you wanna know the voice of the character more right? ;P After that friend we take a look at our main character whom is just chuckling away slightly at the story they look back on, thinking how much of a nut your pal Zeke is with that deep monotone voice our hero/villain has. It just suits the personality of each person very well in my eyes; however, I think that's enough explanation used here let's get into the actual tones you'll here during this adventure.

                  [/]{|} Main/Title Theme }-{][

For some strange reason I don't really see this theme in the soundtrack that's given out; but, it's definitely one of my favorites for this game. What's the main reason why? Mostly because of how dark the song is while keeping it interesting at the same time, giving you a hard job/feeling of what you'll have to endure during this journey. Choosing between the good or evil side of yourself when faced with choices while being called a criminal either which way you fight, it really gives you that dark aspect of what having these powers is like and what costs and risks come alongside it as well...whether choosing to use them to benefit yourself and others or help the mankind in this basically almost demolished town. It's probably one of my favorite opening/title themes for that very reason that it makes you connect with the game even before we've seen the characters and story to the game, not many games do that and it's why I suggest this theme to listen to. Remember it's dark so if you're not a fan of it probably won't be a favorite.

                /X|_/ Rabble Rouser _|X|

Probably the theme you'll hear a lot of the times during side-missions or good missions (raises good karma) kicks off with a bang like you'd been shot out of a cannon towards your destination or you've been thrown straight onto horseback and are taking off after someone. Gives you that huge adrenaline rush even if it's just supposed to be going after someone without hurting civilians or getting caught/seen by any reapers in the challenge. If you're ever worried about failing a challenge this song goes inside your power source for gaming and charges it up like saying "oh really? Here, go after them with this and see how hard they fall! Still be mindful though..." and just makes you feel ready and powerful inside no matter the doubts. Definitely a great song that I'd mention especially when you're doing missions! Think that's enough here so let's stop hopping like Rabble the Rabbit and continue onward...

Sure you may think I'm just complementing the sound; although, I believe that there are issues with some sound elements. Like stated above there seems to be a weird kind of sound whenever people talk (over radio or face to face) almost sounds like they're voices are just a recording and not really like they're talking to one another like you'd normally here in a game or show. Another thing to bring up is there are a couple songs I think you'll hear a lot while playing through this game mostly "Stampton Bridge" in my eyes if your a completionist or just enjoy spending lots of time in areas of a game, as such the music variety may vary and be short or average for the gameplay. As such I'll give the sound a little above even, 8 out of 10!

                                                                                                                                           __
/++__/---2 different paths, 2 different forces, many features to enjoy---/     ++/

Alright we'll admit that the first two sections may not have hit you with a hard block of fun, only going at an average or slight above average in terms of looks and sound so that means the addictiveness will probably share the same fate of scoring we'd assume right? That's where this game along with its choices start to branch off in their own different path as this game offers several storyline elements where you can choose what to do and how it'll affect you and/or the environment around you as well, such as not accepting to defuse/get hurt by a explosive and causing others to possibly lose their lives or help absorb the attack and have them all stand back safely unwarranted.  Already that leaves you with plenty of options you can replay again and see the different possibilities you might try out and see the outcome off, some get to be majorly different with few people not appearing or possibly even dying in the cut-scene unlike normal...or if you're positive more people will be inclined to help/follow you even with the word about you all over town and being a troublemaker is a pain.
Sure, how can that be really addictive to try both sides to the game right? Well besides the whole choosing sides and having it affect the story and character itself, it also effects what kind of powers you might be able to gain and use against enemies or upon yourself in order to aid in mission's, taking down enemies, or just helping your protagonist stay alive from attacks. While working upon these features you'll also be able to do several side-missions that could help give you exp (money) to purchase upgrades or even increase your collective ego (Hero or Villain) side which can be addictive to playthrough in order to gain the highest rank and try out as many moves as possible. What makes this very addictive in my opinion; though, is the following section that mixes with these 3 gameplay segments so far. To which that's what we'll lead to now

That's all I can say for addictiveness, without exactly spoiling any of the fun hidden elements behind each side you may choose to take during the intro. There are a lot of factors that could shape this games addictiveness value how I do: from the games story, to the amount of things you can unlock during your adventure, or just how long this could last for you overall. To me I'd rate this game at least an 8 or 9 at times depending on when I get to play it; but, to be fair I'll just say that this game gets an overall score of an 8 out of 10. For the several different electricity powers, story that we'll learn more of,  and the different paths you can move to or switch in between at times. Let's move!

Xx___---__-- A destructive event, brings forth a new human of light --__---____xX

Today brings forth the day of a new apocalypse...turning the wonderful area we live in known as Empire City, into a basic crumbling wasteland. All from one mistake of a package that was sent and used accidentally creating chaos and turning the normal city into a gang related overrun nightmare, making it so that even just walking outside from your front porch could be a nightmare. Having gone into recovery from the incident our normal everyday man Cole Macgrath has been shaped from his normal self into a walking means of power and energy, able to harness and give light to anyplace in need or lacking of it. My power was still rampant as I'd only just gained it meaning the control was senseless and would usually create trouble or destruction in any room I was sheltered around,  after gaining control I figured it'd be best to help out with the food drops. *shoots down boxes with electric ray*  Whether I help by sharing the emergency rations with the residents or saving it with Cole's friends strictly, only to get yelled out against by a strange tv host.
Ever just sat there and been called out by someone...been named something you know you truly aren't or weren't trying to be? Imagine waking up near death only to be called a terrorist after trying to help/live out this nightmare?  All I know is I woke up and straight away my life is on the line again both with the real culprits and the normal remaining townsfolk themselves, not sure what's really going on here. Having been forced to work alone with my new criminal title and losing my one true love to the explosion that I was told to have caused...what I do know...is I'm going to use these strange powers for the truth, and what I believe will be the best outcome *Light-ish glow surrounds Cole* no matter...what the cost. *sparks of energy flash behind him secretly*

Given the general gist of the story right here without revealing all the details and mastermind behind this scenario, I'd say that the story is definitely well created and is one of the more interesting plots you'll have seen during this systems generation that was a "new" series and not just following off a predecessors success. Looking at everything fairly I'd say this game deserves a high average of a 9 out of 10 for story...there's more to learn in this game; but, that's for you to learn and for us to leap forward now.  *launches self with energy, towards building top*

                 ___                                                                                                                 ___
/___===Showing a lot to offer, and many options to choose from===___

Infamous is one of those that I like to think of wherein even when you beat it once all the way through, there's possibly even more ways to play it once more between changing your karma and quick-time decisions that you'll encounter during your adventure through the dilapidated city crumbling at the moment you start off. In case this is a mystery in terms of what I mean, basically when looking at you karma the story can change drastically such as some people not wanting to cooperate with you while others just simply hating you. As such at certain times, you might have to choose between going forward with normal story means or moving how you wish and even pushing away friends even if it involves having to take them out just to accomplish your goals. Same with the quick-time choices you'll have to make between having you do something to help or use someone/have someone get hurt instead of yourself, doing so can have main people killed or having your friends start to consider you an enemy and attack later on as the story progresses towards its conclusion.
In terms of actual length though the game based on experience could last around 7 or 8+ hours of gameplay if you're only focusing on the story, plus depending on if you're a newbie player it could take you a day or close to a day and a half's work to progress and defeat the entire game. This may also add up if you're completing all the side-quests possible (some can't be done due to karma and completed good or bad missions) leading to a couple days of work at the very least. Onto the big thing that makes inFamous have it's name amount PS3 games classic or new, the abilities you gain from your actions ;P

       *-__Abilities/Karmaic Powers__(|)~

As stated above these abilities are what have made inFamous known amongst Playstation fans or fans of games in general, typically you start off with just the normal average lightning shot from your hands which you never really have to recharge at all or very very often. Though after only a short time of playing this games story in-depth you'll come across generators throughout Empire City and it's at this point where all that stored energy and conversion given by the generator will activate a new level of power within our (almost) clean shaven hero Cole. These powers ranging from a normal risk level for enemies with the shock grenades which blow up and can also attach to enemies and object similarly to sticky bombs in other hit games, to more unique and helpful moves such as the shockwave and Bioleech. Which as you may guess from the titles on deals with sending a wave of electricity towards enemies and kicking them off their feet, and with Bioleech basically sucking the life out of the enemy and transforming it into more life energy as recharging your energy cells. The only other thing to note is that different abilities can take more or less energy away from your cells depending on what move you use, to help with this you can pick up blast shards to gain a new power cell after a certain amount.

From what we can see this game definitely offers a lot you can accomplish/achieve in this game between all the powers, missions, and story mode you plan to chase after. There probably are many more things you can learn and find within this game so why not "thunder drop" your way down and see if you can find the other pieces of info/secrets hidden around this world, why I end this segment off giving the depth a score of a 9 out of 10 for giving a lot to offer with two different sides of a story.

'''```***Difficulty ranged by the user's skill, attacks, and choices***```'''

To be perfectly honest I'd say this game is mostly on a fair level of difficulty, as the difficulty of enemies and other things you'll run into during this games story kind of depends on your own ability to dodge and precisely hit enemies in weak points or just attack them in general. As such when you're damaged and almost about to die (the screen going into a monochrome type setting) The ability to regain health isn't fixed as it depends on your ability to dodge enemies and drain electricity into order to refill your life and energy cells. Also using several of your techniques you'll have gained later on in the game can really help in tough spots between semi-like bosses or just tough foes which may be hard to deal with using only the main method of attacking. There aren't really any other parts of the game that come to mind that are difficult for one reason or another; although, the only real thing to keep in mind is to stay anywhere that's away from water as if you fall inside the water you'll start to electrocute yourself causing damage and shortly afterwards...death...as expected.

Sadly there isn't really much you can say about the difficulty with this game unlike previous games I've mentioned, I do hope however you can see that the difficulty for this game will be mixed; however, for the average player it should be about average difficulty to a little less than average difficulty. Which means I'll have to give the addictiveness a 7 out of 10, for fairness yet difficulty with pits and water or other random obstacles. Time to end this... *uses Arc Restraint on review and runs towards end*

*stands ontop rubble near blast* ...Looks like it's finally time, back where we all this madness started...back when I was still just a victim of a unknown blast...*points to coated villain* Before I had to run into you! I'm not sure what the heck you're all about but if you're the one whom started all of this, you'd better hope your powers can match up with my abilities. It's time to bring the peace back to this town and forgot about any dang Ray Sphere, it's time to end this now monster! *Rushes with charged hand* DIIIEEEEEE!!

*Darker hedgehog quill falls from coated enemy*

Started off sick through the month and with getting ready for a move from one location to another time is kind of strapped. However, I will still try and get that 2nd review in for you all!  Either way hope this is enjoyable and have a great day/night everyone thanks for viewing ahead of time.

I really liked your review man, it was very in depth and easy to read. I've never played this game before, but you showed why you (somewhat) like  the game and why you (somewhat) don't like it. This is just another one of your great reviews for vizzed, keep of the great work on these awesome guides

Now I'll try to fix some summons...

Barathemos : Glad you enjoyed it bara, and yeah as much as I love this game in some aspects I know and am not afraid to show its bad sides as well (like you should in a review). I'll definitely always try to keep it up and thanks for the fix on the summons....don't know why it didn't work before but thanks for fixing that.

greenluigi : xD thanks, this is game I've played since at least 3-4 years ago and always thought it'd be interesting to review later on. Glad it turned out nicely for you all that's the big thing I wonder about all the time. Yeah not the best example for graphics but if you're relying on an older game to tell the systems detail XD something is wrong with your searching skills < 3.  x3 and well the person doesn't actually die like that at the end x3 I used the thing with the quill to show some relationship between the main character (me, for the review) and the main villain

Thanks ;P definitely will keep it up as long as possible :3

We prioritize the community over the site profits.  This is why we avoid using annoying (but high paying) ads like most other sites which include popups, obnoxious sounds and animations, malware, and other forms of intrusiveness.  We'll do our part to never resort to these types of ads, please do your part by helping support this site by adding Vizzed.com to your ad blocking whitelist.
