Got the yellow, lime and light grey wools in no time with the new armor. I don't think I'll make any new armor with the grinder unless I absolutely can't complete an area without new armor.

I found the grey, pink and purple wools as well as having enough extra resources for the iron, gold and diamond block. I only have blue, green, red and black to get. However, these are always tough wools to get. I've died a few more times but nothing so severe that I couldn't recover. No total equipment losses.

10 - Spellbound Caves - I spent several hours creating enchanted diamond armor. I forgot how much time it took to get 30-50 levels and how BAD the enchants were back in 1.2.5 because I got fire protection twice . Still, fire protection at the end of a map like this is good because of how often there is lava . I was able to find the blue and green wools. Did a lot of running around and used up a bunch of potions but I found them both. Loved the area they were in. Really clever. Would have been harder if the wool was hidden slightly better.

10 - Spellbound Caves - Completed in a week (July 2nd - 8th). The last 2 wools were a pretty good challenge. Just getting into the area was a pretty fun challenge. Probably took out 50+ spawners just to get to the entrance to the red wool Getting the red was pretty easy though. Dumped lava down the stairs and followed it breaking spawners along the way. Black was tougher since it was a climb instead. I got the black wool without too much trouble and used a waterfall to get down except I got shot out of it and landed and died. Thankfully I got back to my stuff fast enough that nothing despawned and I ran out in a hurry. Pretty awesome final area though

Well, I found intersection 1 but didn't find a wool on the way (which you usually do... white is almost always before the first intersection). I might have to backtrack. I made a small base in one of the hallways of the first intersection and that all took me an hour. I have no food source yet but I can grow trees so I'll be okay that way. This one is already starting to live up to its name compared to the others.

Thankfully there are no enchanted items to lose so all I lost was stuff I could get more of. Not a lot of stone yet though so losing that hurts. Definitely living up to its name now

07 - Legendary - Day 3.... got the magenta wool (it was NOT in the giant tree where I thought it would be), got a bunch of wood and other resources gathered up, and found intersection 2. Thankfully I had seen a montage video of Zisteau riding into the same intersection so I knew about the trap. I died 3 more times I think in the course of getting to intersection 2. I also spent time building a rail line from intersection 1 to intersection 2. That took a LONG time. Now I can transport between the 2 in no time. [edit] oh, I found a pre-made mine area with coal and cobblestone.... and then a trap blew me up. I was sad.

Yellow wool was just a grudge match against creeper spawners. Not too bad. Found intersection 3 and spent about an hour (maybe more) carting all my stuff to the victory monument. That's all I had time to do today. Hopefully I'll get started on intersection 3 tomorrow night.

07 - Legendary - Day 5.... I spent a LONG time wandering around the West Commons. I found my way into the forlorn rest and got the brown wool (super easy, but almost died to a trap). After finding that I went to Starbright Cavern and got the pink wool. That one wasn't too hard until creepers started jumping on my head. Still got out without dying. I wandered around the West Commons some more and found the dungeon in that area. Got all the way to the room with the wool in it and fell inside and got slaughtered. All my stuff had despawned by the time I got equipped again and managed to get back there. Got the lime wool after a bit more work and left. Not sure where to go now but that's what I'm doing "tonight" (I'm writing this a day late)

07 - Legendary - Day 6.... (again, a day late) did a bunch of prep work to get ready for wandering around the West Commons again. Noticed a waterfall in one of the walls and on my way there I punched a dead tree which activated a falling sand trap into lava and I died. I was so annoyed I actually just stopped playing for a while. Came back to it and eventually worked my way into the Swamp of Despair. Spent WAY too long lighting that place up and breaking spawners and eventually go the green wool and found intersection 4 (and an ENCHANTING TABLE!!!!!). That's all I got done last night. Took a LONG time.

07 - Legendary - Day 8.... took on Castle Ira which turned out to be extremely easy to take out. I thought it would be a lot tougher. Still died trying to get into the middle section but after that it was pretty straightforward. Then went to the Merciless Magma Zone and got myself some IRON... which means buckets . The rest of the area was a piece of cake once I had a lava and water bucket to work with. Left those 2 areas with a piece of wool no problem. Move on to intersection 5 in the nether and took on Super Happy Awesome box of Fun. This one is easier than advertised. Just moved up and then around the edge and got the Cyan wool without dying. Then I to try and defeat Taco and I ended up running out of my pick and sword way too far into the area to get out safely. I died in there and that's where I ended.

07 - Legendary - July 9th-18th.... So, I went back to the taco after gearing up again and I went to the right this time instead of the left. This seemed to work out better. I spent at least 15 minutes wandering around on the top and inside the right side until I finally spotted a chest hidden in some mossy cobble. A few minutes of bridging over to it and the purple (I think) wool was mine. Now on to Fluffy Bunnies of Joy. This area was hellish. SO MANY SPIDERS! And there were tons of 1 block high spots for them to climb through. I died once getting through this area but got all the way to the blue wool without dying again. I backtracked to my mini base in the nether to drop off the blue wool and get restocked then headed back into fluffy bunnies of joy to get to the next area. Here I found diamond (I grabbed 9 for the block) and then headed into the giant spider thing of evil. This area I found to be quite straightforward. I just used my lava bucket a whole lot and I got through pretty easily. Getting the red wool wasn't too bad but I was paranoid about falling into the void. Once I got the red wool I made my way up the ENORMOUS pit thing until I got to the chest with the gravel on top and the troll face on the far wall. Grabbed the black wool and a few diamond items from there and headed home. I grabbed gold on the way back since I didn't have any for the block and then I put all the remaining blocks on the monument. And with that..... I BEAT LEGENDARY!!!! This was not my first attempt at beating this map so I'm pretty happy. However, I checked my death counter and I'm up to 88 (that's for all the maps I've beaten so far). I'm actually pretty happy with that.

So, I guess I'm on to Nightmare Realm. I'm not sure how I feel about this map. I've heard it's pretty brutal. I'm trying to decide if I should take a break or not before I do it. I also know that if you die without your spawn set that you end up in a fail room. I think if that happens that I'll take whatever progress I got and leave it at that. I'll more likely rage quit than lose like that though.

08 - Nightmare Realm - Started August 1st - Day 1 - Finally got around to starting this map. I knew about the TNT in the floor but not about the TNT in the roof. I also knew about the lava that fell from the ceiling but that didn't stop the ghast spawner outside my wooden house from spawning 4 ghasts and destroying my house. However, I did manage to get away with 30+ blocks of wood + some planks so I'm okay for that. I retreated to the Victory Monument where I build a little crappy house out of netherrack and set up my base. I slept in my bed (cause if you don't and you die you lose the map) and got started searching. I found my way across to Ribbons of Pain I think. I went up to the Spire instead of down and ended up finding the Orange wool. Pretty easy to get honestly. Just silverfish to deal with. Once that was safe I searched down instead of up and ended up finding the white wool. I rushed the Fleecy Box because I saw ghast spawners up above it. I ran in and out and got the white wool. Once I had gotten both of those wools I decided to take a break and write this. I checked my death count and I had 4 more. I couldn't remember them all but I guess I died 4 times since starting this map. Looks like it's going to be as hard as advertised.

08 - Nightmare Realm - Started August 1st - Day 2 - So, day 2 is working out much better than day 1. Well, I managed to get a wool again unlike the last update. The magenta wool took an insane amount of bridging to get to. I used a TON of picks and netherrack to get over there safely. Managed to not die but I spent a LONG time doing it. Then I went to find the light blue wool. I managed to only die 3 times to falling traps in the dark. That was a big frustration because I was getting really low on resources. However I did come across a couple of chests with stone tools and food that I managed to get back to my base before I stopped for the night. I still don't know if I'll manage to finish the map but so far I'm doing okay.

08 - Nightmare Realm - Started August 1st - Day 3 - Today was unexpected. I wandered through Winter Wonderhell and ended up coming across Jester Castle. This is the red wool castle that you have 1 chance to get the red wool. It was full of TNT traps (which I managed to survive) and the fleecy box room was a huge tapped room that would go off if ANYTHING was updated. I decided to read up on how to beat it since I didn't want to lose the map at this point in the game. All I needed was 2 ladders (which I had the wood to make) so I got in and out of this area with the red rool without dying. I died along the way but not in the red wool castle.

I also came across Balestein Castle and did a bit of searching in here. I came across the purple wool quite easily and escaped with it before the blazes got me. I got both pieces of wool back to the victory monument without too much trouble. I've also spent a lot of time in the nether collecting coal and iron which has really helped my durability. I've also had to leave a LOT of loot lying around because it's so far back to my base and I can't pick up everything.

08 - Nightmare Realm - Started August 1st - Day 3 cont. - Close to running out of wood so I decided to go find the forest place. Took me a while to find my way down. Did get there and set up a makeshift base at the little house at the entrance. Spent a hour or so harvesting trees and planting oak saplings. I've now got all the coal and wood I could ever hope for. Still wish I had more cobblestone but at least I had enough for 1 furnace. Didn't bother going after any more wools but I could see a fleecy box from where I was harvesting trees.

08 - Nightmare Realm - Started August 1st - Day 3 cont. - got a huge amount of progress on the map. Iron block and gold block were attained. Iron just got from the nether and gold was in one of the earlier areas and just needed an iron pickaxe.

Spent some time in the forestmen area - found the light grey wool. Had to dig up through the tree to avoid the spiders and even then nearly died several times. Cave spiders are evil. Still got away with the light grey wool. Wandered around some more and found the Ruined Tower. I built my way up the outside cause I'm not stupid enough to go up the inside. Got knocked off once by blazes/cave spiders/ghasts at the top. Got back and go in and got the lime wool. Realized I had gone up too high and came in from under the fleecy box instead of above.

Wandered around some more and found Dungeon Bunkerstein. I forgot how much I hate void fog. This area was by far the worst. So many spawners. I couldn't keep count of how many spawners I broke. I also lost count of deaths. Thankfully I moved my bed into the new base earlier so getting back didn't take very long and I lost very little equipment. Eventually I did get to the pink and grey wools. It was by far the toughest area I think. Took a long time to get through.

Still, super happy with the progress. LOTS of wools in a pretty small area which made everything feel better overall. Also, iron armor really helps with all the fighting.

08 - Nightmare Realm - Started August 1st - Day 3 cont. - so I checked wool locations on a wiki and realized that there are quite a few more out in the ice area I had been wandering around and died a lot in earlier. After torching up the place for a while I came across a glass dome with the brown wool inside. This was by far the easiest wool. I walked in and picked it up no problem.

After that I went back into the big castle I found the purple wool in and fought blazes. And then fought more blazes. And more.... and more. The death counter for blazes must have hit 5 or 6 on this one. I did manage to get the yellow wool quite easily early on in tackling this castle but it was trying to go any higher that was insane. I noticed diamond blocks in a room and foolishly wandered in to get it when blazes and spiders dropped from the ceiling in crazy amounts. That's when I decided to give up on the day.

Still, I am amazed at the progress I have made. I'm glad I played the maps in the order I did because I would have quit on day 1 if I hadn't played Legendary especially. I also admit I've played nearly every free moment I've had over the last 3 days. Once I got started I got a bit obsessed with this map. Thankfully today was a holiday so I've been able to play almost all day. Still missing several wool and the diamonds and the challenge is only getting tougher as I go higher in this castle. Also, double update on death counter because I missed it last time.
