Hi,
I am relatively new to PSX emulation, but I have a few questions. I have been playing FFVII on ePSXe 1.7 for about a week now with no issues. The files for that have .cue and .bin file extensions. I downloaded the following games from Get-Your-Rom.com;

Resident Evil
Ape Escape

I am not at home right now, so I am going by memory, but the files downloaded from Get-Your-Rom have the .BIN files with an additional extension .ECM I believe. The emulator does not recognize the .ECM files. I removed that .ECM and just had them as .BIN files. The emulator will load it, but I can't get past the black screen. What can I do here? Please help. Thanks.

I should add this to one of my guides

ECM is an added compression some games have.
You must decompress the ecm file to use it.
Get this tool: http://www.neillcorlett.com/downloads/ecm100.zip
Copy and paste the link to get the file (it can't be hotlinked, I'll have to find out if GYR can mirror it).

Extract the tool to a folder. Drag the Resident Evil / Ape Escape .ecm file onto the "unecm.exe" executable and it will decompress into a .cue or .img file (for example).
The new file will work in ePSXe. You can delete the .ecm file now as you dont need it anymore.
Just put the new file in the same folder with your other game files.

Thanks Dark,
That worked great. I added a step further. I just made a shortcut for ECM on the desktop, and just drag the file to the shortcut and it extracts it in the original file location. I was fighting with the stupid "Command Prompt" screen for this kind of stuff! This beats the hell out of that! Thanks again.

Awsomeness. I hadn't tried the desktop shortcut method myself as I'm always in several folders and windows at a time, but that's a good quick way to do it
