I recall seeing an article on how much money they really get.

For every dollar donated, I think they get about 10 cents. Not sure of exact amount but is pretty low. A huge percentage of it goes towards the military or some other organization that is helping. Should have saved the article

That is really sad, because they are the ones that need the money most, and if they are getting only 10% of the money that is for them, it will hurt them a lot.

I don't think it is just them though....

I find 10 cents on the dollar to be too high though... I'd like to see where that article came from.

Either way there is a fair bit of overhead with every charity to operate with before it can get any money to the people they are trying to help.

It takes awhile for the money to reach Haiti, so much of the money could be lost on the tax of sending it there and paying people to send it over there.
