Sword legion : That is true, Nintendo was supposed to release The Legend of Zelda (Wii-U) back in late March, but they were too much into the NX and it caused the game to be delayed to Holiday 2015, and that has made a few people upset over the decision. Do what Sony and Microsoft has been doing before they released their 8th Gen consoles, release a number of PS3/360 games while at the same time, work on the PS4/XBone.

Don't be too focused on the next gen console, that can be fatal, that's what happened to Sega, they never focused too much on the Saturn because they were too focused on the Dreamcast which was a fatal mistake on Sega's end.

I can't say much for the Saturn, cause I'm just not well rehearsed about it. But I bet a lot of Sonic Fans were bummed out when they didn't get their major game for that system. (3D blast not being much of a constellation prize)

We still have a ways to go, I would like to see at least 200 come out for the Wii U before Nintendo puts it away. Of course, I don't care how many games there are for a system, unless they're good. (I can name several good games for the Gamecube by the way.) But the Wii U? Man. . . I had high hopes for it. . . but I'm not feeling a bunch of hype.

Mario 3D World, New Super Mario Bros U, Mario Kart 8, and Smash U, are all great games. But they're also Mario games- a bit of a problem if you ask me.

Back on the NC and N64, Zelda got 2 major adventure games. Skyward Sword was released late into the Wii's life. I sure hope we see innovation, as well as some remembrance. The Wii U had a lot of promise at first, and I hope in the next year they really get some things going. It would suck if they made the next console, rather than making what they currently had actually nice.

Sword legion : You're right, we need more games that are good on the Wii U. Sadly all we'll really get will be Nintendo's first party games because the systems' tech really is too limited to encourage third party titles. Still Nintendo could show some more support for their own system and it's owners. Even 200 games would be disappointing...very disappointing. :/

Nintendo needs to hit it big next gen with sturdy hardware (hear that Nintendo: more power, not more "innovative designs") and good third party policies. But for now they need to make an effort to salvage the Wii U as much as possible.

Sword legion : I agree with the number of games right now, it seems too few games. Normally, 2 1/2 years into a console's lifetime, we would normally see around 300 games, but the Wii-U doesn't even have half of that. With 111 games, you think that would be the amount of games you expect within a year after a console is released.

So, the Wii-U is way below average for a console.

There is a 4-6 year cycle between console releases.

So, by this list, it would be the same cycle, and the earliest it can be released is 2016, So, I don't think it's too early, but since Iwata said they won't be further details of the NX till next year, this put me on edge about if it's the right or wrong move.

So, all and all, I don't think it's too early, but Nintendo is running out of time with the Wii-U.

This Nintendo NX doesn't seem to interest me. Especially when they are already going to release it this year. Nintendo needs to step up on their consoles.

Well, the news of the NX being released in March of 2017 excites me, I wish they would take a little more time to release it. The Microsoft and Sony consoles usually come out a year to a year and a half after the Nintendo next gen console, and I would like Nintendo to take more time on it. I am currently selling my Wii U because of this announcement because I don't want to lose money, as it will sell now as opposed to when the NX is out, and I will stick with my Steam games and emulators until it releases. We also got confirmation that Zelda Wii U is now Zelda Wii U / NX, and now is another Twilight Princess, which means we never got an exclusive Zelda game on Wii U besides remakes and a spin off. There also is a rumor that Smash will be a launch title for it, but I have a feeling that it is just the complete version of Smash 4 with all of the DLC, but a new fighter just for this version would be a selling point if Sakurai wanted to do that.

Well as someone who is about to buy a Wii-U, I am VERY glad the next Zelda title is NX AND Wii-U. I don't want to be left behind like that yknow. It does kind of bum me out however knowing that once I get the Wii-U I have about 4-5 years before it gets internet cut off or something that makes it less viable, but better late than never I suppose. And on the topic of remakes, does this mean we're getting a Skyward Sword remake eventually? Cause if any Zelda game needs a remake it's that one.

Sadly Nintendo has basically already shown that it will be another gimmick console, and as far as I can tell they're still going with the less power = better gameplay thing. With the way Nintendo is heading lately, I'm more cautious than optimistic.

Linkums : I'd buy that. Not because of nintendo fanboy but just because that idea is so convoluted it could even work.

As for the NX, I'm not excited. I still don't have a freakin' Wii or Wii U yet, I'm not ready to go to the next level.

I am still waiting for an announcement, how is this console supposed to come out in March if it is October and Nintendo hasn't put out any information about the console whatsoever?

I'm just excited because I want to see what the new Pokemon games would be like on them, since its supposed to be a portable console hybrid. It'll have a lot of power while still having portability.

The Switch or NX if you guys prefer only has like one trailer available. The thing about it is that no real games have been really confirmed on the actual console at this point. The Mario demo was the only like NEW game that stands out.

Also Skyrim may actually come to the switch, which i'm really excited for because maybe more third-party games this time? 

I personally own a Wii U and still play it sometimes, but it can be frustrating, not being able to take the controller more than like 10 feet away without it disconnecting. Also the games on the Wii U are mostly first party or small indie games on the E-Shop or something like that. Yes, you do have one Call Of Duty game on there, but just Black Ops 2.

The screen I noticed was small too, so maybe V.R. support on the future?

I haven't been too excited because I'm expecting it to be like the Wii U. Plus, my thoughts of Nintendo have really gone downhill since they have been removing all of their games off of emulation sites (like this one!). I've heard you can play Skyrim on it, which makes me excited because I love Skyrim. Overall, if it has a price under $200, I may just buy it.

I just hope this one doesn't flop as much as the Wii U did. The main reason the Wii U flopped was the complete lack of effective advertising and a severe lack of decent third-party support, but this one seems like it might have these issues covered. I really don't know at this point, and I don't think anyone really knows aside from what's been shown and confirmed.

I still want to know why so many people try to predict the level of success the Switch will have before it's even been released...like, really? You literally know nothing about it other than the fact that it exists.

NovemberJoy : I think the main reason might be because their marketing campaign, target audience and stuff has been much better than they did with the Wii U. The only thing that would hurt the sales of it would be the price as far as I can tell. We don't know the price yet, but once we know that it should be fairly easy to make an estimate.

Sorry to revive a dead forum, but I just want to say something about the Switch.

I saw the presentation on the 12th of the month of January, where I was impressed how Nintendo could make a Nvidia-powered tablet and have a normal USB powered charging port like a cell phone. The games such as Breath of The Wild looked amazing and (hopefully) not over-hyped similar to No Man's Sky, the disaster that it was.

There was one problem though, they are trying to go the X-box route and make paid online services. I hope they change their mind or make it dirt-cheap because I am not paying $300 for a tablet that can't properly access the internet without making your wallet sad and empty like the Steam summer sales.

Hate to dash anyone's dreams but the switch is just actually a glorified Gameboy player being released for the outdated Gamecube meaning breath of the wild is actually gonna be a GBA game. If you want a true 9th generation console and not something that was branded as a 9th generation console and finally revealed as an add-on to the Gamecube just to get people's hopes up, might I suggest the Zenith Gamespace pro? It looks like it will be awesome. I do feel sorry for those people who placed pre-orders for the switch and may not be getting their money back. I definitely am sorry for those people who are thinking they are getting a 9th generation console. I can only imagine the outrage/boycott that will ensue when they see it's just a glorified gameboy player.

The Switch is just another gimmick. It is just a damned touchscreen with controllers built in. It will fail like the Wii U did. Every Nintendo console starting from the Virtual Boy to now,has been underpowered,been a nightmare for people to develop for,is kid friendly,(translation: poor third party support),is a gimmick instead of a true innovation,and is a sad existence to what was once a mighty gaming giant. I think this will be Nintendo's swan song. They should abandon the hardware business and focus on gaming.
