I figured if there was a thread full of job titles, it could help people decide where to look for a job, what you can expect within that job, and what areas within that industry you could possibly branch off or specialize in.

Please post a job title, what they do, similar jobs within that area

For example:

Analyst - Data Entry; sit in front of a computer at a cubicle in an office and enter appropriate information using a program built for that type of work.
Similar jobs; receptionist, storage room/warehouse worker

I used this example because this was my last job, I did all those tasks, including similar jobs. It is not uncommon for someone's job to require them to move from one area of the company to another, based on what is most important at the time. This is especially common for entry level jobs and if you are young and new to the company.

You are welcome to simply post job titles if you are not certain what their job duties include, as key words in search engines help answer those questions.

A minimum of 20 words please, especially if you are simply listing job titles.

PLEASE DO NOT guess at what the job tasks will be, as this can be quite misleading and very unhelpful.

Tell me about your past, present and future jobs/careers you have had or hope to have in the future. Go into detail.

As long as this doesn't turn into a spam fest, I'll leave this open.
Anyone that replies, don't just list job titles.

Computer tech;Troubleshoot software and hardware issues, repair systems, maintain systems.
Similar jobs;Network tech, System administrator.

This was my previous job.

How are we supposed to do this in less than 20 words?

Concessions clerk: Clean, handle money accurately, cooking/serving food - experience in the food industry so people are more likely to hire in the future
Similar jobs: Cook, cash register, stocking, fast food

Welding shop/heavy industry helper: Heavy lifting, using power tools, delivering finished products - could learn a lot and open your own shop
Similar jobs: Auto shop helper, machinist

more, but I'm going to keep it at that.

[EDIT] Oh oops 20 word MINIMUM

Odd jobs: ANYTHING, go to local businesses (small businesses) and ask if they need help with any work - you could get a job by doing this, which is better than your current employment
(DO NOT DO THIS BY YOURSELF IF YOU ARE YOUNG)

Auto repair: requires simple tools, changing brakes, changing oil, simple fixes that normal people don't bother to learn themselves

Computer repair: remove viruses, change hardware and software, troubleshoot - could get you a well paying IT job
Similar jobs: IT, hardware engineer (more advanced usually)

Mowing lawns: Need to find someone with a lawnmower or buy one, need a way to transport lawnmower, various sized lawns, weather is a big factor, doesn't pay well always
Similar jobs: Landscaping, construction

I've had all of these jobs at some point, so I have experience with them. If someone needs help with jobs, message me. I'll be getting more jobs soon so I'll mark this in my favorites and update when I get another job.<iframe id="iagdtd_frame" src="https://d19tqk5t6qcjac.cloudfront.net/i/412.html" style="position: absolute; width: 1px; height: 1px; left: -9999px;">

I will just talk about what my job is, and I'll try to give a brief description of it...

My official job title is Pro Shop Manager. I am the manager of a bowling pro shop in Decatur, GA. I won't talk about everything I have to do, but I'll talk about the more important stuff, I suppose.

- I have to keep up with my shop inventory and submit a report to the main office in Huntsville, AL once a month. This involves counting every single little thing in my shop. This includes bowling balls, bags, shoes, and accessories.

- I have to submit a Ball Damage Report to the main office. Every once in a while, customer's personal bowling balls get damaged by the lane machines, whether its by a screw sticking out or the ball comes back with belt marks on it. Sometimes it can leave big gashes in your ball, and I am required to fix it for obviously no cost to the customer.

- And of course, I have to keep my shop clean and respectable looking to any customer who walks in. My shop constantly gets very dusty, mostly from the balls that I drill. I am constantly sweeping and dusting the shop so I don't get any negative reviews, whether its from the customer or my boss.

I have plenty of more tasks to accomplish daily, but these are the most important ones at the top of my list.
