Why would you want to see that hooch?? I think we have seen enough of this 2 party balogni its time we give an independent a chance for once. You got reds (republicans) you got blues (democrats) but what about the whites (independents)? I mean both parties failed multiple times how much more are people going to believe that there are only 2 options.

An independent winning office is much bigger deal then first black man to win office. We beat general racism a long time ago its time to beat some corporate ass with an independent.

I agree.... I would much rather see an independent candidate win the presidency this time around. Then there might actually be a reason to "hope" for "change" .

JigSaw : I kind of agree with you. As a deeply christian conservative, I am rather fed up with the job that the republicans and the democrats are doing. However I only think that the an Independent will only be little bit nicer than what we're going through.

I've seen this a lot but what if a christian was running for president would you vote for him despite what party he is in? That seems to be a big problem with the direction of this country people are judging others on their personal life and not what they can actually do to benefit the country as a whole.

JigSaw : Perhaps I might. If the guy running is a solid christian than I think he would definitely show honesty. Plus, in my opinion, it isn't just our super economy and our super military that made us great, but the morals we stand on which are rather scarce in other nations. So perhaps I would vote for a christian, although it is not the label that gets me to vote for a guy.

yeah... being a Christian in American politics is pretty much a pointless thing to bring up. They all claim to be Christians so why use that to differentiate at all?

geeogree : Tell me about it. Nearly everybody who runs for an office claims to be a christian. Most aren't. Obama being an example. He dares to call himself a christian. It is irritating.

I think he's an okay president. He's not the best one, but he's not the worst. I don't see him fulfilling anything he's promised. I guess I can make my decision when his term is over.

I think President Obama has done the best he can do with what he was given to work with… I know a lot of people criticize him for many reasons but the fact his he inherited a mess and it isn’t the kind of mess that one can clean quickly.

It doesn’t help matters that the two parties are constantly at each other and thus people act more often than not based on their political affiliation and not what is best. There is no way that any significant progress can be made that way no matter how well meaning someone might be. President Obama has a way to go before he can be fairly judged but I think he has done a decent job under the circumstances that were in front of him when he took office.

I think that there will be a independent party president after the 2012 presidential election, so basically in 2016.

I disagree. As much as people hate the way our parties are doing I still think one of the 2 major parties will win. Its been proven through the past century that when someone doesn't like the way the Democrats are doing, they get Republicans, and when Republicans do bad thy replace them with Democrats. The closest Independent was Ross Perot. And he only got like 20 %.

part of the problem with that Hoochman is that the system has been set up that way for so long. If you aren't a republican or a democrat then you don't get enough campaign contributions to run against the 2 party candidates. Plus people seem to think that because a candidate is in one of the major parties that they must be good.... Hopefully George Bush and Barack Obama will have taught America a lesson....

Well unfortunately you guys I haven't seen 3rd parties be that much different. The Independents for example have proven to be moderate or liberal for the past decade. And moderate and liberal is what we've been having for the last decade. As crazy as it sounds, I honestly think the republicans or libertarians would be capable of pulling a different style off. We've seen what big gov't intrusion has done. Now it is time to try limited gov't and more freedom and privatization can do again, which the republicans and libertarians are about... or supposed to be about. We've sure been proven different at times.

I hate to burst your bubble but the Republicans under Bush still increased the size of government. There were tax cuts done, but government still grew.

Well yes the republicans have sure screwed up over the past decade. That's because they abandoned their core principles and they got moderate and liberal and eventually more corrupt. Big gov and high taxes is a liberal thing. Unfortunately Gov't got too big and taxes were small so the debt skyrocketed. What I think needs to be done is for them to quit getting moderate and liberal and go back to what they're supposed to be. It actually seems to be hope for that because of how things are going and because of they had a humiliating loss in 2008. Hopefully that taught them something.

geeogree : That's an interesting chart, and I often see people get mad about how the war's added massively to the deficit.

it has added a lot to the budget... several hundred billion dollars. Without question.

But Obama's spending has added something like 2 trillion to the deficit... in under 2 years. It's not even comparable.

It has run up a deficit, but not what everyone thinks. a few hundred billion is like the budget for WW2. Which now a days shouldn't be that much. people don't like to pay attention to the debt Obama's run up.
