That motherf*cking piece of sh!t! (see, I censored my self). I don't care if he "feels bad" about the hit, he shouldn't have done it. Gods, I hate Ovechkin! They should totally suspend him for this.

I've read comments saying that the hit wasn't that bad.... but when a buy is 3-5 feet away from the boards.... you shouldn't be pushing the guy at all.... he had passed the puck away already... what is the need to hit him at all? It's just another in a list of dirty hits by Ovechkin.

But he's "too important" to the league to punish.... somehow.

I also saw some people saying that they'll punish Ovi so that Crosby can win the scoring title.... as if that has ANYTHING to do with Ovechkins dirty hits.

While Crosby winning the scoring title would be nice, it is irrelevant.

Seriously, why can athletes be punished when they do something wrong? Does a guy have to die from a hit to make it happen?

Well, apparently giving someone a Grade 2 concussion isn't enough...

Breaking a collar bone isn't enough....

but a hit from behind where the other player isn't injured will get you 5 games....

As long as you aren't a star player for the league....

I think the Caps are just afraid that without Ovechkin they will lose the top spot.

I'm getting tired of the inconsistencies of the suspensions. 8 games for the hit on Seabrook, but Ovi gets 2 for fracturing ribs?

They need to overhaul the whole system. Forget about who got what suspension 6 months ago and deal with it on a case by case basis. I personally think that length of injury should be considered. I think punishments for illegal hits (blind side, head shots, boarding, etc) should be more severe than a "clean check" that went wrong.... if that makes sense.


I did hear a suggestion about a possible way to deal with the problem. If your team has a player that gets suspended.... you lose his spot on your roster for the games he's gone. So instead of dressing 12 forwards and 6 defencemen you only get 17 total. A rule like that would probably result in shorter suspensions because you can't play 17 players for a 20 game suspension.... but it was an interesting idea.

Don't know how well that would work, but I do agree that the punishment should match the offense. Two games is a joke, it really is.

I love and hate the same team the Flyers, I like them because there from PA and I;m from PA, but I hate them because all Philly teams suck at sports...I truly do not love but utterly hate the Eagles while we are talking sports, just had to throw that in there....

so cheer for the Penguins then if you're from PA. Pittsburgh?!?

So, I'm thinking Calgary is out of the playoffs..

I know it's not official yet and they -could- win 3 straight and still make it... but at best we were running on fumes towards the end. Calgary needs a legitimate 1st line center to play with Iginla. Until we get that we don't stand a chance. We need a Thornton or Sedin who are playmakers to get Iggy the puck, but they are also legitimate enough threats on their own that Iggy can get open.

I know I'm cheering for Pittsburgh in the East (and anyone who is playing against Washington) but I'm not sure about the West. I'm leaning towards Vancouver just cause they are the Canadian team.... Maybe Chicago. Chicago and Pittsburgh would make a good final. Both fairly young teams going against each other. Both fairly new revivals of hockey in their cities. Might be a good matchup.

Pens in the east (of course), and the Kings for the west... it would be nice to see them at least get a conference title. I wouldn't even mind them getting the cup just because I could go to the games. That, and it gives them more to hang in Staples Center than retired numbers.

Oh, and on a fun note for some of us.... Ovi is not going to win Art Ross or Rocket Richard trophies this year! I'm very happy about this. Hopefully he won't win MVP either since the rest of his team was so good. I hope to see it go to someone more deserving.

lots of series have evened up last night. In fact all of them that were on game 2 evened up I believe. Most of those series the lower ranked team won the first game so they NEEDED to be tied up. Only Detroit is the lower ranked team but I don't think that series really matters for ranking.

Not sure how much of tonights games I'll see. [checks schedule] Oh, 1:00 PM EST game, 7:00 PM EST game which means I'll get to see both of those before I'm out for the night. That's nice.

And Phoenix beat Detroit in Detroit for game 3. I'm glad too. I want Phoenix to do well this year. They need all the help they can get right now it seems.

ugh, Wings shut out the Coyotes... no fun. But all they need is to win two more before Detroit and it's all good. I love that the Pens are a game away from winning their series and the Kings are doing great as well. I am sad that the Habs just seem to be letting Washington win their series though... damn Ovechkin.

yeah... I'm loving the playoffs so far. No series is clear cut. While the winner was likely to be a certain team.... the series themselves haven't played out as being clear cut.

It's nice that 1-4 aren't dominating completely.

Sharks game right now is really good, the rookies are on fire but I am pissed that McLeod of the Avs didn't get called for cross checking in the second. I mean, what the hell? I just hope we don't squander the lead out of anger.
