thenumberone : thanks. I actually do have it in desktop mode... I still am not a big fan but I was thankful that I could at least keep it in this mode.

I always thought Windows 7 was far enough, but now we are at 10 but no 9? *JigglyMINDBLOWN* Skipping a 9th Windows version reminded me of a Family Guy scene where Peter talks about some World War movie that skips 3 and 4 and goes to 5. Speaking of the leaked Windows 10 build, I can't believe they have taken it a little too long. No offense, but it is ridiculous how Microsoft can go so long with Windows like Nintendo with the new Mario Party 10 Wii U game that will be even worse than 5-9.

I can go on and on, but I would just repeat that 10 is a little too much. I would rather stick with nostalgic XP and that is the only Windows OS that my family even likes or uses, except my dad uses 7.

Windows 8 has only been out for what, less then a year? It's really funny to seeing them get rid of most of the enchantments 8 had and replacing them with stuff that was in 7 . I'll just stick with XP and 7 for now.

thenumberone : I don't know, it probably doesn't take up that much space. I mean, when you think about it, on all versions of Windows, the Start Menu is always running in the same way. Actually, I would assume that it probably is an XML (or something) document that is drawn when it's called, like the desktop, which is there, but doesn't really take up resources when a window is maximized.

Singelli : I doubt it'll be free, but they might do it like the Windows 8 launch where they gave it free to people who bought Windows 7 within so many months before the release. I hope so, since I just bought Windows 8 like two months ago. Otherwise, hopefully there's a cheap upgrade price.

Stevie 764 : You can keep XP. It was great for it's time but it's almost 15 years old at this point! It's really slow, and the way computers work these days--and the way people work on computers--is vastly different. Get out of the past, man! Explore the future! Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 are great, just give them a chance!

awsome888 : Windows 8 has been out for two years, mate! Think about it this way: That's 16% of your life! And they're not getting rid of the enhancements from Windows 8. The Start screen is staying, it's just being moved into the Start Menu. And the apps and Windows Store are staying, they're just moving into windowed environments instead of being fullscreen--which I don't really see why that's a problem, most people just maximize windows anyway like the plebs they are. Personally, I'm happy about it, since I rarely maximize windows, but I don't see why other people get their panties in a twist over it...

Lazlo Falconi :  Why do you doubt it will be free?  I'd get pretty annoyed if I have to buy it, and likely won't make the swap in that case. Also...excuse my dumbness, but why only to people who recently bought Windows 7, instead of people who purchased Windows 8? (Maybe that was a typo....)

Singelli : I don't think it'll be free because that wouldn't be very good business for Microsoft. Their whole business model is based on selling software, so giving away software wouldn't really help their bottom line, would it?

As for the 7 thing, i was using what happened with the release of Windows 8 as an example. At that time, they gave away copies of Windows 8 to people who had just purchased 7. If they did something similar, they'd give away copies of Windows 10 to people who recently bought 8.
