Darkness....Destruction...Revenge! All of which are words we've heard countless times throughout the Mario and Paper Mario series; until, you reach this final (system) addition to this wonderful folding on the edges of gaming styles. A story that starts off like any other...this time; however, beginning with a wedding ceremony and let's just say the bride and groom certainly shall surprise your shining shell. After a certain dispute within the festive event a certain character decides to pop into the show, that our heroic plumber in red has never seen before in the fungus land. Mysterious and troubling this supposedly wicked man makes all of the fancy mustache man's best friends away leaving him alone in some strange world, only to be awakened by a vibrant butterfly (almost robotic) looking figure whom asks why he's come here.
Shortly afterwards becoming quiet from hearing word of the person he'd met at the reception leaving the last words to be: "you must follow me if you want to return this world to peace and help your friends". Adjusting his cap and rubbing his mustache, the koopling smasher decides to join our new friend on an adventure; but, what about her words and tone? She sounded almost sad and broken over what she'd hear about this new foe, how can that be and....why do the words Timpani and Blumeir ring across the origami skies of this land with such a depressing and heart-breaking tone? Only one way to find out *flips into 3-D view* we need to take a look at this new adventures from many different perspectives! So what are you waiting for? We've got to head out and find our friends in this crafty world!

*Enters Reviews Entrance Door* "Level 1-4"

/_Paper filled mache brought to a whole new world of flipping and flopping_

/_ Throughout the past decades we've seen this series grow, as such it become more distinct in the way the paper like areas/fields appear to the characters and even our own eyes, for example: if you were to compare Flower Fields, Creepy Steeple, and World 1-1 of this game you'll notice is that in each one of the levels I mentioned. The graphics had went from being: Simple, to more refined, all the way to indistinguishable between a normal 3-D game and a paper imagined one like before. Which shows how nicely of a job the creators of this game had done; but, I can see that you're edges are drooling with curiosity wondering what I could possibly mean? Well what's life without a little exploration I say, sure let's get to some examples now! _/
                             _______
        |___|-Flopside -____/

     |_| Here is where our journey begins shortly after a  folded out story from a creative new book, now having been thrown into an alternate world where dimensions don't just lie on one simple plain; But, instead must be seen from left to right and (after flipping into 3-D) front to back. It's similar in looks to the ancient style of Rougeport Sewers (remains of the old town) mixed with an technologic tone, with the elevators having flashing red arrows on them signifying how much each world this plumber has visited has grown immensely from previous adventures. This is one place you'll be visiting and seeing again from all different angles alongside with new friends and foes.

    {_} ~ohhh.....OHHHH...OHHHHHHHHHH MA-MA MIA! *8 bit death sound* |Sonic x9| umm...Sorry about that
toadstool viewers but my gosh < 3 < 3 if any of you are from the 1980's~90's  time period then you'll understand my reaction to talking about this level. Because it creates so many great memories and fun adventures of the past; bit-a tronic type flooring, and skies from something you may have seen in Yoshi's Island or NES (Nintendo Entertainment System) Mario Games which like many games you may go back and play it gives you that feeling of being a child once more and I love that < 3 let's just say this section can get pretty interesting and hilarious at some parts! Especially if you understand word and/or scenery humor *cough Chuggaconroy cough* also, if you loved the T.E.C scenes in the previous game you'll love one part in here with Princess Peach and a certain person/enemy name Francis.
I think those two are great enough to hold you off and take a closer look into what they game is like as I don't want to expand this view of the areas too long otherwise the word count would be longer than anything viewpoint in the 3-D view of the game. So my score for graphics is a 9 out of 10 here.

!! "A somewhat average soundtrack mixed with nostalgic memories" !!

2001....A game with paper not peeking most peoples imagination but shocking and folding our imaginations, into something we'd never heard or seen before....2004 ~ Our favorite tossed down series because of the title returns with a darker plot and story; and yet, it still retains the same pleasant sound that we fell in love with 3 years ago...2007 ~ It's been a long journey but it's time to flop our minds back into the origami type land we've grown fond to after such a large stretch in years; but, will it live up to the older classics? With the 10th anniversary of this series getting closer in sight how about we take a peak at this music and sound effects!

         *** ~8 bit characters~ ***
If the idea of the bitlands didn't peak your interest before, then I can bet this song will at least put a smile on your face. I'm sure everyone remembers that intense feeling of seeing a star appear from a hidden block or *?* block from the NES/SNES days and just feeling so strong inside knowing you can't be touched. In this game though, they decided to take a new approach with bringing back the star; however, they definitely nailed that idea out of the Mushroom (Ball) Park ! As right when you collect that shining yellow beauty, then you're immediately greeted by the remix yet familiar tune our ears welcomed so kindly in our youth as power and new found courage. Seeing our outline of our past 8-bit selves being drawn out with the ability to smash anything in our path with relative ease just feels so great alongside hearing that wonderful remixed old tune. Certainly a song worth taking in your heart and mind for years to come!

       < 3 < 3 | Promise | < 3 < 3
Promise is a word many of us have used several times in our lives...both young and old, even to the point that some people put the word to use each day, vowing that they'll keep to it over anything else in their daily life. Such a lovely tale when you think about it and fate would have it that two characters past from within this story had made this exact word come true in their life with a promise of love < 3. Picturing the blue sky above their heads underneath a greenleaf ridden tree with that melodic, symphonic, and peaceful tone inside this melody. A man and woman grown together by love, thrown out/cast aside by family saying their loved on is improper; but, still maintaining the cheerful and loving atmosphere with them everywhere at that time! So that's this song; however, I'm sure it's hard to believe from just words so I'll "promise" you that if you listen to this at a dark time and think about what you love...this song will make things bright again!

Afterlife...Revival...Peace, this place represents all three of those meanings creating what I feel as both a sad/scary/and happy little world. The best way to explain this world would be to imagine a heaven like area with angelic type souls whether it's human or animal souls. This area where the music played is personally my favorite in the entire game just the fact that after having saved this specific area from anymore destruction, reuniting family members, and creating peace in this land. Giving you a calming harmony with an added operatic type voice in the background with the music just makes it so perfect, especially if you go back here after completing the game...just the nice and simple theme makes it so great to end with before you shut the system off. Another great job on this games music track!

So that's where I'll have to end this section off, the sound effects are mostly similar to "Thousand Year-Door" so there's not really much to say here about that but I'll leave my score here with a nice but not perfect 8 out of 10.

/_ - Not as great from past games, but better looked at from a different perspective|_|

Ok, I'll be the first to admit when I saw this game in a box on a shelf in walmart I figured 0.0 < 3 ooooh ANOTHER Paper Mario game I wonder if this'll be better than Thousand Year Door? Doing more research on it I came upon the fact that though it was still partially an RPG all the battle elements from before were gone, acting more so like the original SNES/N64 styles where you'd jump or throw something at enemies to damage opponents. This was...very disappointing to me to say the least since I was such a huge fan of the way Nintendo had implemented the RPG fighting style into this game that was different from Super Mario RPG which I don't prefer as much over the original style. ALTHOUGH! I DID give this game a chance and bought it to see how it was and though I was initially disappointed this was actually REALLY fun when you don't focus on the other 2 games and just think of it as it's own game. Basically this top segment is more of a description of what to expect at the beginning but now let's get into some nice and sweet examples of what I mean shall we?
Though this isn't turn based anymore it's still fun to defeat enemies and in a sense is easier to dodge attacks by jumping over/flipping/or some other trick to avoid projectile attacks. One thing to note is that you DO have partners in this game like the previous entry and the only real difference from the last game is that these partners are more so like the very original entry into this series since they yield no HP. What makes this game so addictive similar to the last is the "Story" of this game as I feel it's just as dark as the monstrous thousand year door shadowy figure; although, the story being a completely different style than before instead of another ancient tale. The best thing about this game as you can probably tell is being able to switch between a 2-D side-scroller to a first person  3-D kind of perspective making this a 2.3D game (I guess) which does add some nice sense of style to the game making sure you flip here to see if this is where you need to go or to find secrets which will help you along the way, which
personally I enjoy a lot since it's another thing to get your brain thinking if you're stuck on a puzzle. There's lovable characters, a great story, and so much more to find but if I tell you all that what's left to hook you in . My score for the addictiveness is an 8 out of 10.

O~/--~O_______A tragic past leading to an apocalyptic future________

Love...the feeling that many of us yearn for in this lonely cold world, a soft and warm feeling that when it's been connected once it can never be severed again...at least that's what we like to believe; but, then we have disdain in our lives...the fact that whom we love may not settle well with others in the family or just personal friends/co-workers. Leading into our past events as we travel throughout this game, as story of two loved one torn apart by one person due to the disdain for their partner, from those tragic events it leads us into the devastation that we see in our present time.
Believable or not this story begin with a wedding ceremony with a King Koopa and lovely princess, but half way through it is ruined and interrupted with Mario's appearance to the aisle half-way into this fight they're both stopped by a strange man only referring to himself as "Bleck" Having the marriage already taken place even if it wasn't complete caused a dimensional vortex to open up in this world throwing everyone from this even into a strange and mysterious world known as "Flipside" once down here we can see the vortex in the back meaning it's not only deleting the Mushroom Kingdom...it's trying to do the same to this world as well!
During this mystery we find an injured pixelated butterfly figure laying before us in agony, once having seen the vortex above she knew what had to be done was to find the Pure Hearts in order to close it so she commands us between different worlds and time to ensure the success of this mission and defeat the "vile" Count Bleck as she calls him....however, this seems strange that she only knew about this person from a few minutes ago so how could she know if he's vile or not? Also when we're not listening well this figure named Tippi as well as Bleck seem to recall certain names: "Timpani and Bleumire" what could be going on here? What will happen to this world, will Bleck's plan to destroy this world work out for taking the thing he loved away? Sadly the only way to figure that out is to fold open the sides of this game disc and play it for yourself, with such a unique and interesting plot the story like the others gets a 10 out of 10.

<----Turning the pages of this long and twisted material world/---->

Depending on how you define each one of the chapters in this series this can either be the exact same in length to the others or it could be longer since before the games just ran by chapters (Prolouge~8) usually and it'd just be one HUGE area that you'd travel to and from in order to gain access to later areas; however, in this game you still have 8 chapters like before except that this time each chapter is split up into segments for example: "World 1-2, World 8~4, and World 2~3" making it similar to the classic Super Mario Bros games. Adding that all up with Plumber teaches Math" we get a total number of 32 levels in 8 worlds! Now you must keep in mind these segments are shorter than what you would expect from the original Paper Mario or its sequel but each world has 4 mid-chapters you could say I guess? If you look at it that means you'll get more mid-points in one chapter meaning more gameplay that can be finished at one time or a HUGE level which can take longer to surpass but will contain a lot more places to adventure around in.
By the way this game can also resemble Super Mario Bros 2 in some ways since you can play as: The man in red ~ Mario, The fierce hider with green in his face ~ Luigi, The pink lady of fungus world ~ Peach and...and TOAD right ...nope just the spikey shelled hot head Bowser so that can add alot of creativity to the game being able to switch between these 4 as each has their own unique abilities for you to figure out.
There are also a few more things that you can do when finishing this super paper filled land; but, sadly it doesn't leave as much as the second entry did. Even with this though there are still a few things you can do though when reaching the completion of Count Bleck's terror such as:

* Going into the Pit of 100 trials in Flipside and/or Flop side ~ Yes this area is back from Thousand Year Door and this time you get two versions of this fighting pit of doom as I like to say, both of which contain rewards from completing them one you may consider worth the hard effort and the other extremely worthwhile unless you want a challenge. So get hunting if you wish

* Finding other party members that have been *quote on quote* hidden in levels and not gained through normal gameplay like you would expect, some of which being extremely helpful or just there for show and fun to have which is still a nice addition!

*Exploring the areas that you've beaten throughout the rough adventure of peril's seeing how things have turn out, my personal favorite it to go to area 7-4 and once you reach the end of the level you'll meet the two guardians like before only this time a certain character will rejoin them back there :3 what could that be? I'll never say that unless you journey and have a good time for yourself.

There is quite alot for you to explore so if you're looking for another adventurous filled folding adventure then this game isn't that bad of a choice leaving alot to explore but lacking in the eyes of it's predeccesor. Leaving the score here at a surprising 9 out of 10!

/=_= Like one would expect from paper....falls flat on some areas =_=/

As this segment title would suggest, this games level of difficulty at points has reach Mt. Parchment Shamu due to the fact that it's no longer a turn-based based RPG and more a 2D~3D sidescroller like Mario 64 mixed with Super Mario Bros. 2 so don't expect that much of a tough fight from bosses and enemies since usually their is a trick or advantage (both fair and unfair) that you may use to your advantage against these foes....(and good that you have bowser so you can blame your mischevious behavior on him). Normally I would end this up on a 3 out of 10 right now since there isn't much to say but one thing I will bring up that wrecks my crumbled up mind is when you complete the Flopside pit of trials...you may think it's going to be all fine and dandy until these lines are read "You seem to be strong but lack real evidence to prove your good enough to meet me, if you really want to prove yourself worthy *pipe appears* go through here and do this all over again then I'll let you pass" after seeing that message when beating the area my heart rate heated up worse than Wario's garlic toxic toushie maker.
So make sure you come in here equipped and ready to go, conserving your items until the second round otherwise you could end  up with 1hp and lose very quickly forcing you to do it twice again. Other than that you can't say much about the difficulty other than I think it should've been raised if they were going to do it in a different style but sadly as much as it may feel like a poison shroom to my gut I must give this section only a 4 out of 10 for difficulty.

Here we are...at the pit of this vortex and even with how we try we can only hope that these pure hearts can truly bring back the heart of the demon before us.....the same demon whom had his heart ripped out by the one whom had stolen his love away from him turning him into a creature seeking only despair and revenge. Can this world be saved our will it be lost alongside the heroic plumber forced to join the terror and sadness from years before. Will the truth behind these mysterious characters known as: Timpani and Bleumier be solved with this resolution? There's only one way to find out *releases pure hearts and charges towards Count Bleck* This chaos must be stopped now!!!

Vizzed Ghostblood : Glad you like it had to do it all in one day so I was worried if it would be enjoyable but glad it still is! And yep I figured since I did the last 2 Paper Mario games I have to finish off with this one.

P.S. ~ Sorry I almost messed up your summons by calling you Bloodghost instead of Ghostblood xD my mistake.

I see that you have made another one of your epic reviews, and this one sure is spectacular. I played this game a couple times at the Nintendo store and I loved it, I would definitely get it if I had a Wii.
