Oh my gosh... you guys.... I need to start watching the news more often.

Apparently... our superintendent is every bit as sick of this system as we are.  He announced yesterday that he is resigning.  My whole team is packing their offices.  

Oy, I read a few articles, and everyone thinks the straw that broke the camel's back.... was an unapproved expenditure of $65k.  That $65k was used to print the guides WE wrote...  (copies for all the teachers in the system)

There are dozens of news stories floating around about it, but those two were the most insightful, I thought. The second article is lengthier, but discusses my two bosses who were fired and the funds used to print our guides.  (The article says the 'resigned', but it's clear the resignation wasn't completely voluntary since they were escorted out of the building by police.)

Some of my coworkers went to empty the boxes holding our guides.... to pack their stuff with.  But the boxes and the guides are all gone. The closet they were stashed in has been wiped clean. 

I'm don't even know what to say other than 'what the hell?". How in the world is the school district going to even exist being run like this?

That's why Patterson and Nguyen where such pleasant supervisors... they hadn't been torn apart by Alabama's certification process yet. Had they have experienced that most unpleasant process they would most likely have been completely miserable and frightened of the bureaucracy like everyone else. I'm right, aren't I Singelli?

One other thought comes to mind. Um, the Birmingham school district is online, isn't it? Teachers have access to teaching materials through the district or state server, right? WHAT GENIUS DECIDED THAT EVERY TEACHER NEEDED A HARD COPY!? Why not publish it as a .pdf viewable through Adobe Acrobat Reader?  smh... somebody obviously didn't think things through. I'm so sorry that you had to be reassigned for another persons mistake, Kelli.

Singelli : My word! How do you do all of that in a day!?? Do you ever even have time to play for fun? Sorry to hear about your favorite bosses. It seems that people who gave you trouble before always seem to like coming back. I hope all this is not too much for you...

FaithFighter :  It's more work than it sounds like, but no.. I don't ever get to play for fun, really. XD  And it's not too much for me, as I know God has a plan.

As for an update: we were supposed to know what is going to happen by tomorrow, but I don't think a decision has been made.  It sounds like most likely, we will be traveling between schools and then working extra hours to continue working on the guides.

God is so good! 

I wish I had real life friends, because if I did, I'd be running around hugging them all and squealing at the top of my lungs!  In fact, I'm so happy that I feel a bit choked up!  After nearly two months of waiting... after being told over and over again that we'd be put in new (totally inconvenient) positions..... I just got some wonderful news!

Out of the blue, with no discussion or warning, my teammates and I were pulled into a meeting just now to be told that we get to stay in our offices and continue our work through May!!!!!

This means I won't have to travel around schools doing meaningless tasks. I won't have to annoy our program specialist by tagging behind her and being inexperienced.  I can continue to bike or jog to work! I don't have to use an EXTRA two hours for writing every day!  I don't have to cram to meet my deadlines!  I WILL HAVE FREE TIME when I get home!

And best off all, I get my full year of sweet, sweet peace.  I get the year long break I asked God for.  I don't know why I doubted that it would be cut short....  God is just amazing!

I'm so, so happy.  I've been unproductive for almost a month and I didn't really feel like fixing my bike because I didn't see the point in it.  Now I can fix both these things with happiness and eagerness.  I'm so grateful God proved my doubt and disappointment wrong!!!!!

(Gosh, I wish I could hug people!!!!)

I've had this job since June, but it's awesome, I'd have to say!

Really happy to hear that. I know you have been stressed and it can't feel good to live in such uncertainty. I assume that you don't know for sure what is going to happen for next year? Regardless, don't let that be a damper. This should definitely be a 'live in the moment' time. Enjoy the stability you have now. And I bet it must be great to be able to walk or bike to school! And having some free time! Kinda jealous. Anyway, it is great to hear that things for this year have improved.
