Do think that the sonic series is dead of all the spiciness that is Sonic Adventure 1 and 2? Dark Chronicles? Or is Sonic through?

Has Sega, (or Sonic Team) just quite putting their hearts into their games?

I think so. Lost World was a Sonic Colors 2, and it had potential, but it sure wasted a lot, and missued Tails at the same time.

The story itself was good, BUT was implemented poorly in an all too corny fashion.

Perhaps Sonic Boom will be our way out. I would really love it if they take it too the top with it. Even though it is a spin off series.

It's not dead. The series has been through so much worse than Lost World. I mean, the last two games were good. Generations and Unleashed I think? Either way, to declare a series dead because of one mediocre game is silly. Sega just needs to put, I dunno, EFFORT in? They just have this tendency to rush games, which is a shame. Dark Chronicles? Would've been great if it wasn't rushed (And it wasn't handled by Sega really anyway). Sonic 06? They're resources were split AND they were rushed. Secret Rings? Similar thing. All of their games have so much potential, if they would stop pushing them through so harshly.
Sega, you are allowed to postpone games every once in a while. Just sayin'.

Sonic has amazed me again and again in their abilities and potential. Oftentimes, like you said, they were just split, and didn't put the polish on that they needed. Sometimes they do stuff that outright seems stupid to me, like giving us werehog sonic, when Knuckles could have fit the role of fighting in the streets at nigh much better.

I'm not saying I know exactly what it's like to be in Sega's place, but one thing I had to learn is to not rush art- YES be FAST and EFFICIENT.

But in the end we almost never are able to get things done as fast as we'd like.

Hence, these Suki fanfic rewrite chapters are coming out a lot less often- and I'll actually complete the story in my head before I dive in a bunch of chapters.

You've gotta have a plan, and you've gotta execute it well. That means putting it off if you have to, and hey, it's worth it in the end. ^^'

I wonder if Sega is the reason though Sonic Games suck sometimes as of late? So to speak, they just don't care about what Sonic Team would like to do, and are more interested in being a kind of Mcdonalds to make money?

As long as I can still play Sonic's games on the Genesis, the series is as strong as ever to me. I've stopped paying attention to the new releases a while ago.

Well...I haven't heard much of new sonic games now. so....as long I as can keep on playing the old school games such as sonic 3d Saturn version then I am a happy bunny. And of course with sonic 2. ^-^

And you are right. Nowadays they do tend to rush new sonic games, and not making it as good as it should be....

I don't think it is dead. I just think SEGA need to take their time. I would be perfectly ok waiting a while for a great Sonic game rather than it coming out straight away because they want to move on to other things. Sonic Boom to me looks dull at least for the Wii U anyway. The 3ds version looks fine.

Sonic Boom seems like a nice refresher after the monotony and sameness I've felt from the series since Colors. I can't wait for the show, coming out on Nov. 8, and the games, so we'll just see where this goes. Has lots of potential, but we won't know until the game and show actually come out. Once they do, we can judge away!

I don't think it's dead. As much as people say bad things about the past decade of sonic games, sonic is still a recognizable name and the series does have its fans. Also, generations was pretty sweet in my opinion. The best sonic in a really really long time. Even though I haven't played all of the recent sonics, it seems like it easily could be.

From what I see, Sonic tends to run into the exact opposite problem that Mario gets into. Many people complain that Mario does the same thing too often, shown through the New Super Mario Bros series, along with some of the other platformers. Well from what I've seen, Sonic tends to do the opposite. When they find something that works like the way Colors and Generations played, they try to find a new gameplay style. I see why they do it, fear of the games becoming stale, but it also seems to lead into a lack of quality. When you create an entirely new way to play, it tends to lead to the game being like a test. Lost World was a game that had mixed reaction, and that's easy to see why. Sega was trying that kind of gameplay style for the first time. I think if they stayed with one style for a few games and fine tuned it, I think Sonic would be able to be in some more good games. Though for anyone worrying that Boom will kill the series due to it's negative reaction, it was made by Big Red Button, not Sonic Team. So hopefully Sonic Team will have some good ideas for the next game in the main series.

Personally, I think the franchise is kinda of fizzling. While it's great that Sonic Team tries new things with each game, I feel that they are not properly implemented. I mean an open sonic game may seem so cool, but it's not, if the characters are so stressful to control right and the world just feels empty. I also dread the voice acting in the series, especially from the main characters even Sonic himself. I honestly liked whoever his voice actor was in Sonic Adventures than his current voice actor, Roger Craig Smith. I mean whenever I hear Roger's Sonic I just get this thought that something doesn't feel right. Another problem with the series is that they keep introducing characters that people either enjoy (Knuckles the Echidna) or they despise (Big the Cat). If Sonic Team can actually take the time to make a sonic game that revolutionizes the series, then maybe Sonic can win back some of his old fans back. Personally I also think they should put characters from the comic like Scourge to serve as a character in the next Sonic game. I absolutely think that they should stick to the stage-to-stage system that they had in the first three games, of course I did like how Sonic Generations did its stage selection. I also like the idea of playing multiple characters, maybe have two-player co-op, player 1 is Sonic while player 2 is either Tails, Knuckles, or etc. Maybe make their abilities to work tandem like tails flying sonic high to sky, then lets sonic go, who starts boosting downwards and comes down like a meteor. 

I've noticed a trend with Sonic games, if they weren't made by Sonic Team directly, it will be bad, they just proved it to me with Sonic Boom, that game feels like its trying too hard to be Crash Bandicoot or Sly Cooper or something along those lines, except they made it extremely poorly. The graphics look like they could fit on the PS2, the music is generic and un-memorable, there's almost as many glitches as Sonic 06, and to top it all off, the gameplay is boring.

Also, they ruined Shadow's voice, which we only got to hear for a few minutes before they threw him out of the game. I really had high hopes for this game, I really did. Too bad Big Red Button screwed it all up and made me lose any hope for good Sonic games, especially now with the new budget cuts that Sega now have. They REALLY need to step up their game, otherwise Sonic is doomed to die. Sega's kinda like... that old friend you had as a kid that moved away and suddenly turned into a bad kid. All we can do is hope that Sega actually cares anymore and fires the current idea manager or what have you.

If they could just go back to 2D sonic and stop with the 3D that nobody seems to like, I think there could be some hope for our friend Sonic yet. If not, he'll gradually fade off into the distance, reduced to an icon such as pac man.

Depsite Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric being a major flop, I don't say Sonic's dead not by a long shot. He's still got a huge fanbase and if the game developers would focus on making great gameplay and storylines for those games then we wouldn't be having this conversation right now.

I think that there will still be some people who will buy the Sonic games, no matter what, but they may start losing fans if they continue just jumping game play styles every single game, instead of using a consistent style for at least a few games.

I don't think the sonic games are dead or dieing *if* Sega fails it will only be a matter of time before someone picks up the franchise (Nintendo  perhaps) which they have started to  downsize which is not a good sign.  Not only that but really the only bad sonic game from what I can tell from watching gameplay video's is Sonic Boom but I haven't played it so I won't judge it along with the black knight. They other games while may not be as amazing  as Sonic 1-3 or adventure 1 and 2 are still quite enjoyable except with an occasional glitch here and there  (which just about every modern game does sometimes a lot worse than sonic) plus Generations, colors and Lost World (underrated sonic game) are just as good as the original games. They only thing wrong with the franchise is that like what other people have said theirs to many different types  of sonic games out there when in reality most people just want a plain simple platformer that runs really fast with great levels. 

I haven't played the newest Sonic game, but I have played Sonic Colors, and Sonic Generations. I love Sonic Generations, I thought it was amazing, and very well done. I don't think Sonic is a dead franchise, but it's not sitting very well, and if you look at Sega, they aren't sitting very well. I think they are now just going to do mobile games. Which is sad, because there is so many franchises they own, that are sitting there, rotting away.

If anyone picks up Sonic, I think at this point Nintendo could do it, and I think they can revive the series. Maybe go back to the 2D style, I know a lot of people didn't like Sonic 4, I personally did, but there are flaws in the game, that Nintendo could fix, and make a new game, maybe Sonic 5.

I wouldn't really say that the Sonic series is dead as of right now, although the new games isn't as great as the original Genesis games, but I think that Sonic's decline between 2005-2009 has caused his popularity to do extremely downhill, and the series hasn't fully recovered as of this moment.

Although I really can't fully say this because other than the first 3 Sonic games, I haven't really played the recent Sonic titles.

I honestly think that the hate from sonic 06 still plagues Sonic too much still for it to be come as big as it use to be. And personally I've lost confidence in it after Sonic Boom, cause a reboot doesn't give me hope for sonic.

I shall comment again after Sonic Boom being the failure it was. My opinion remains the same but I am not that excited as I used to be for Sonic. Though they have a mobile game coming out called Sonic Runners. Looks decent enough and it is free to install from what I heard.
