-Overall-
The overall rating for this game, I gave it a 9 because its the one game I will always go and play when I feel like I need to play it. It's a great game and its really unique with what it has to offer compared to other castlevania games due to the DSS card system and the really neat RPG system. The DSS system is when you can use the power of various deities in pairs of 2 to empower your whip and change what your whip or character can do, like the first combo you get, it makes your whip flame and deal extra fire damage, there are 18 DSS cards to collect with each different effects when combined together, it makes it worth collecting them all due to the really cool effects some have when you use them, like the unicorn card, when you combine this card with any other card it allows you to summon a monster that attacks based on what you used with it as a pair.
-Graphics-
The graphics are decent for a game of its generation, it is a castlevania game so the graphics that look like this are what give this game its charm to me. Who doesn't like retro graphics like this? But seriously, I really enjoy these graphics and how they look, I think any other sane person that's a castlevania fan can agree with me on this one. I have no complaints to be honest.
-Sound-
You can say that the sounds are great for a game of this generation because when you compare it to other games I think the sounds of this game are quite nice compared to others of this generation. The music is great too, completely worth listening too on all levels, each area has a nice little bit of background music to go with the stage.
-Addictiveness-
I have to rate this high because I can't ever seem to get enough out of this game. I always find myself playing it again. It's really one of those games everyone should play at some time or another. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys games like this one. Just going around whipping monsters to death never gets old.
-Story-
This story like most castlevania games have the same story of just getting to the end of the castle to defeat dracula, etc... This one though has a bit different of a story if you wanna pay attention to it.
-Depth-
The depth is typical for your castlevania games, its got secrets, and the armor and items you can collect, along with the max hp/mp increases hidden around the castle. It also has the DSS cards you can collect as well. So a bit of collecting for everyone.
-Difficulty-
The difficulty is as well typical for these games its easy at the beginning but its difficulty increases really quickly with each area getting harder, the first boss is easy and is predictable but then afterwards the bosses get increasingly harder and harder. With each boss as well having their own element and DSS combo they are weak to.
