I essentially agree with what momoisme said in so far as I believe it is a likely reason that you receive so much pressure from theist. I identify as agnostic. I do believe there is some force far beyond human understanding, who's will and very nature in completely unknowable. A force that may or may not even experience a subjective (or any) consciousness, and who's reach encompasses all of existence. A force, or being that simply "is" in a state somewhere beyond the shackles of time/space. Something logical, but far beyond our dim capabilities to understand.
I do not however, believe that we can understand this being by reading a book. No offense to theist of course, that's just how I see it. I also can't imagine a being connected to all of existence would spend it's times concerned with my every move even if it was omniscient. And I also can't comprehend that a being responsible for the universe that is in constant flux and is everchanging around us, having a blanket set of rules for all of humanity, that never change.
Well, that kinda turned into a rant.
Basically, if you're seen as on the fence, everyone is gonna want to convert you, and will be annoyed that you still haven't "picked" a side. Although, agnosticism can itself be a side. I don't consider myself undecided. I just accept that we can't truly know, so it's up to each of us to figure out what works best for ourselves.  To find our own way instead of all this blind leading the blind.
Sorry...end rant

There's something interesting to tell you about agnostics in Japan . If you ever talk to someone in Japan about religion they would not have a single clue on what you are talking about. On the Wikipedia most Japan people do join a religion group but have no idea what they are meant to do. So in a way they kind of are agnostics but do believe in some kind of god.another country to share about agnostics is mexico if anyone ever reads the wikipedia  it states that mexcio has super strick rules about any other religion besides Roman Catholicism. So that made almost everyone in Mexico catholicism but the few that are not catholicism they are agnostics or another other religion. However not everyone there knows about catholicism because of many reasons of Mexico drug dealers problems (you Americans stop making legal drugs). it states from the wikipetia that only 50% even show up in church but the other 50% do things there way but still shows up for the partys that are held by them.

so what i believe is that not everyone is telling the truth about who they are because it could lead them to being a outlaw.

thing1 : its like Mexico they are joining a religious group but they don't follow it, so this makes you think . That's why I think there is agnostics within a religious group just so they wont become an out cast. These type of things is somewhat a peer pressure state and also survival thing as well because both Japan and Mexico are having problems none of them are the happy place you think they show to us in the usa.
