I sometimes have this weird feelings (love? possible but at the same time I find it stupid) whenever I see a mythical creature in a video game...or in a movie. And sometimes.....I would suddenly google them and read who they are and know more about them (I wish I could do the same in my studies). Do you have the same feeling as I do? Well you can discuss about it if you want.

For me my favorite mythical monster would be the Griffin, to me.....they look kinda cute and majestic.....and this might sound ridiculous but I think they make excellent pets (I wonder if this just me...).

My favorite mythical monster would have to be a Taun-Taun from Star Wars. Ride it like a horse and go to people's houses on it just to see the looks on their faces. Twould be wonderful.

Well, your average gryphon was a proud, fierce animal that would be much better suited to life as a cautiously respected war mount... but that's the thing about myth and legend, there's plenty of wiggle room.  If you want to posit one that's a perfectly normal size for its ocelot rear, is slightly mischievous and loves to curl up in your lap, it's no less legit than somebody who prefers gryphons with cheetah for the feline half to make them even faster on the ground.

I don't know.  It's tempting to pick on the kitsune; massive magical power, conduct restrained by the fact they're servants of a deity of health and prosperity who wouldn't be pleased if they screwed up either of those for even one mortal without cause, and the fact they like to appear to be beautiful women isn't exactly a mark against them.  Dragons were an early favorite, because who wouldn't like the combination?  They're like the perfect apex predator:  nearly immortal, virtually impossible to harm, highly deadly claws and fangs, deadlier fire breath, flight, beautiful scales, intelligence off the human charts... if only they weren't also prone to greed, horrendous violence and/or manipulating frail mortals like puppets.  Unicorns used to be good; shy, pure creatures whose powers were all about undoing the harm caused by evil or negligence.  Try claiming you enjoy them now and you're just going to get hit by MLP haters and/or mobbed by the bronies who want to make sure you understand how it's only the ones in their cartoon that really matter.

I guess I'd pick the dragon, and just ignore the ones like Smaug.

Ok that is going to be a tough one to answer because I love mythology and folklore. There are so many I can think of that I could put on here as my favorite. Believe it or not this was tough enough that I narrowed it down to three. So since I can't narrow it down I am going to list all three. Here they are :
1. Cerberus - a three-headed dog that guarded the entrance of the Underworld, allowing the dead to enter but letting none out. He was the son of Typhon and Echidna. Apart from his three heads, he also had a serpent's tail, a mane of snakes and the claws of a lion. That would be just so cool. Most simple wish for that one would be just to say to him, " Sick em' boy !! "
2. Feathered Dragon - I just want to see one and ride it.
3. Fáfnir (Old Norse and Icelandic) or Frænir was a son of the dwarf king Hreidmar and brother of Regin. After being affected by the curse of Andvari's ring and gold, Fafnir became a dragon and was slain by Sigurd. It'd just be cool to meet a creature from classic literature that we all hear about in school.

I really like Gryphons as well. I'm not really sure how you spell their name correctly, but I'll take a guess. Do Dragonborns count? If so, then I would like to switch my answers.

My favorite include Phoenix's, Chimera, Kappa, and Undine.

Warning, the below is to be taken half seriously. Probably even less than half.

For starters, fly away on your giant reincarnated fire bird. Too hot because of the fire? Use Undine to cool that seat for ya'! Don't forget your trusty Chimera and Kappa, wouldn't want to miss an opportunity to confuse your enemies. Assign your Kappa to go riding of into battle on your Chimera, and have it request cucumbers from your foes. While they're confused and not looking, burn them with fire! Now doesn't that just feel amazing?

saldek : This is a lot harder of a decision than I originally thought it would be. I am going to have to give two mythical monsters because they are both equally awesome in my opinion. My favorite mythical creatures are phoenixes and dragons. Both creatures have their own particular abilities, but they also have similarities too. They can both fly (obviously) and they are both fire based creatures.  One of the coolest thing about a phoenix is the fact that when they die they turn to ash and are then reborn. I don't have to describe in detail how incredible dragons are, I mean they grow into enormous creatures, and they are able breath fire. How much more awesome can they get.
