This is my fist game review, and as I haven't played the game fully for some time, I may well be missing a few points on it. However, the show must go on!

DIABLO III

The Diablo series, was created back in 1996, by Blizzard North, and published by Blizzard Entertainment. 4 years after the original release of Diablo, the second game in the series was released, with an Expansion, "Diablo II; Lord of Destruction" released in 2001, the following year.

Fast-forwarding to 2008, and Blizzard announced that they were in the process of created Diablo III, and fans of the Diablo series (including myself) got weak at the knee's.

Blizzard, spent 4 more years, creating, testing and fine tuning the Third game in the amazing series. Thus, Tuesday, May 15th 2012, queue's of Role-Playing Game Fans, Diablo enthusiasts, and the occasional kid who'd heard about the game, and wanted to 'try' it out, made breakthrough sales of the game (3.5 million copies (PC) in just 24 hours). Throughout the year, it became the best selling PC game of the Year, with over 12 million copies sold, and in September 2013, consoles were treated to the wonders of Diablo III.

With 5 playable characters in the original version of the game, players were given much to enjoy.

THE 5 CHARACTER CLASSES

All character classes have Gender selection.

The Witch Doctor - Similar to Diablo II's Necromancer, the Witch Doctor has the ability to summon monsters, cast vicious curses, throw poisons and explosives, and harvest souls from his enemies. In order to use his/her spells, The Witch Doctor requires Mana, which is slowly regenerated.

The Barbarian - Is a battle-frenzied warrior, who can smash through his enemies, who?has a variety of revamped skills at its disposal based on incredible physical prowess. The resource used by the barbarian is fury, which is generated through attacking enemies, getting attacked by enemies, and using certain abilities. Fury is used for certain strong abilities and degenerates over time.

The Wizard - Is a version of the sorceress from Diablo II or the sorcerer from Diablo. The Wizard's abilities range from shooting lightning, fire and ice at their enemies to slowing time and teleporting past enemies and through walls. Wizards, create arcane power to use spells, which is a fast regenerating power source. (This is also my favorite character)

The Monk - Sounds peaceful, no? This character is in fact, a deadly opponent. Using martial arts to overpower his foes, deflect missiles and resist damage, the monk combines two previous classes from Diablo II, the Assassin and the Paladin. In order to fuel the Monks powerful abilities, he generates Spirit, which does not degenerate over time. However, it is only slowly gained from attacking his enemies.

The Demon Hunter - Pretty fitting for this type of game, The Demon Hunter, combines again, two classes from Diablo II. The Assassin (getting a feeling this was a basis for most characters really) and The seductive, ?Amazon. If a ranged character is what you are most at home with, the Demon Hunter, does not disappoint. Armed with Crossbows (not one, but TWO!) ?The Demon Hunter uses both Hatred (for his attacks) which is a fast generated resource, and Discipline (for his defensive abilities) which is slowly generated.

DIABLO III;REAPER OF SOULS ADDITIONAL CHARACTER

The Crusader - The Crusader uses his physical prowess to combat enemies. With an ability to ride a horse for a couple of seconds, dealing damage to those around him. The crusader is very much like the Paladin from Diablo II. He uses Wrath to deal significant damage to enemies, which is gained by attacking, and being attacked.?

GRAPHICS - 10/10

I personally thought that the Graphics for this were spot on. If anybody played Diablo II, prior to playing D3, then they would agree that the Graphic detail, and layout was perfect. Using an Isometric view, players can see their character, as well as surroundings, making full use of the custom game engine created specifically for Diablo III. In the 3D world created by the game engine, NPC's will utilize the environment, by crawling along walls, or up from a hole in the ground. Cut-scenes throughout the game, maximized the Graphical content the Game Engine produced, with NPC's looking almost real.

SOUND - 10/10

This was a big part of the game for me. The interaction between player and NPC was important, as the majority of the story-line told tales, and gave important information regarding where to go, or what to do. Ambient sounds, as you walk through the wilderness, created a more unique style of game. From the cries of enemies, to the sound of the wind and the rain, every detail was looked into as Blizzard created this game.?

----------------
I advise EVERYBODY who is going to play this game, to watch every cut scene, to hear and see fantastic use of both the Sound and Graphics. Even the opening sequences I guarantee, you will not be disappointed.
----------------

ADDICTIVENESS - 10/10

No questions asked, this is one of the most addictive games I have ever played. Upon it's release in 2012, I spent 4 weeks playing every day for up to 15 hours. Thankfully, I had something to do while I was sick. With multiple difficulty modes, it's very easy to get lost in time while playing this game. With the ability to kill everything over and over in a specific area, you can expect to find some area's you won't want to leave.

STORY - 10/10

Anybody who played Diablo II, will know many of the characters at the start of the game. As a lot of people who are "Hack and Slash, I'll click my way through it" players, the story is simple and easy to follow. However, I advise many people to pay full attention to the story, it's one of the important parts to the game. In an interview, Lead Story-Line Producer, Leonard Boyarsky said that even though they have created the game to have the ability to skip cut scenes for the type of player who clicks through everything, they can still get a basic understanding of the story. Where as people who pay attention to the character details, and will dig deeper into the back stories, they will have a more in-depth understanding of the intricacies of the game world and what's going on, and how everything all fits together.
?

For players who have played both Diablo I & II, you will know that each game (in game time) is spaced at 20 years apart. (Not that Deckard looks it, or maybe he hides his age well?).

Diablo III, is set 20 years after Tyrael, the Archangel of Justice, destroys the Worldstone, a colossal mountain sized object, which held immense power. Upon starting, you are told what buttons to use in order to attack, as hints show up, although you probably button bash at the start, just to get a feel of the controls anyway, (I know I did).?

After completing the game on easy mode to get a feel of the game, and to look at the story itself, I was impressed. With the story content showing great depth into what the producers wanted to get out of the game, and detail everything they could do. I recommend leaving no stone unchecked in this fantastic game.

DEPTH - 8/10

Even though I love this game, and think it has a fantastic story-line (if you actually pay attention to it, and follow everything) I felt that there could have been a little bit more. After waiting near 12 years since completing Diablo II, I wanted slightly more from Diablo III, but does that make me greedy?

I guess in a way, you could say that I am being a little bit greedy. After all, I spent a lot of time playing this, just because I love the series of games. But, at the same time, some people probably agree with what I think. Diablo sticks to the normal 4 Acts, or Chapters of ?the game, with the expansion creating an additional Act. It doesn't take very long to pass through some of the Acts, where some of them, can be quite interesting and well structured. With little side quests, and hunting rare items in.

Another way to include a bit more game-play, I personally think that there should be additional quests to complete. Even if it was just 3 - 4, so that you had to finish them in order to progress into the next Act, would be more than enough.

Perhaps I was just expecting a little bit more depth from a game that made me more excited than a child on Christmas.

DIFFICULTY - 6/10

This is definitely not a hard game to play, however you can choose to play in 'Hardcore' mode or the standard Easy/Medium/Hard. Unlocking more difficulty levels as you progress your way through the game. In hardcore mode, when you die, you die.... You have a single life, and if you die, that character dies with it.

Many people see Hardcore mode as too tough, but if you really want to liven things up, it really is a great mode to play, although I wouldn't recommend playing Hardcore mode until you know how each character works.

The Standard 'Easy' mode is quite literally a walk in the park. However, if you do play online, and have friends join in on your game. NPC's grow slightly stronger, so make sure you are in town when friends join up. Boss battles are not fun when somebody randomly joins your game, and are nowhere near where you are.

Thankfully though, the Console version of this game, does offer offline play. Which means you get to enjoy the game without having somebody come in and ruin your day.
This is my fist game review, and as I haven't played the game fully for some time, I may well be missing a few points on it. However, the show must go on!

lilythetigerkity : Thank you. I will try and get a few more reviews posted within the next couple of months.

It took me around 2 and a half hours to write this review, proof-read it, add more here and there, take bits out, and then get it to what I was happy with.
