I'm not sure why you think Dave get's that much.
He's got 22 in the 4 or 5 years he's been here.
So that averages out as around 5 a year.
Also he's the owner and obviously posts very well so he gets thumbs ups from that.
If you post really well and stay active you'll be sure to get some thumbs up.
I've been here for a bit over 3 months and I've been a mod for over a month and I've only got 1.

I guess people just don't pay attention to that. It's probably why it takes so long to get it. I've just given eliminator a thumbs up 1 minute ago for helping someone in the Newbie forum by giving him links to the rom site and page. I think I'll start to pay attention to that stuff from now on.

It does help to help a lot of other people and respond to someone in a nice manner even if hostilities are about to arise.
