Once upon a time, in a relatively faraway/near/dependswhereyoulive land, There was a game called Jerryboy.

A simple platformer, the bottom line is prince Jerry was turned into a slime by an evil wizard, and now his brother Tom(lol) going to rule the kingdom and marry Jerry's girlfriend, Emi.

And now, it's up to you to help Jerry take the least effective route possible (including the Moon, the North Pole, and downtown main street) get to the castle, beat up the wizard, and stop Tom from becoming King!

Along the way, he'll save a lost boy, watch his princess-to-be search for him desperately, save a town from everlasting Ice and visit a land of angels (God apparently lives there to, but he's not in when you visit. Bad timing, it seems)

You would never get any of this from the USA Version.

For no particular reason, whoever decided to import this game thought all the cutscenes where completely unnecessary, and axed everything but the wedding crash at the semi-final level (Even then, they cut out all the text).

This took a lot out of the game. You could run around and talk to people as a slime to find out what's going on, and what you're doing next. Also, the bird boss makes a lot more sense, and those poor townsfolk kinda deserve it...

Anyhoo, back to the gameplay. Jerry is a slime. it has it's ups and downs. Notably, he can stick to walls and ceilings and crawl to hard to reach places. Very useful for the various rows of spikes that stretch across the land.

Jerry's main form of attack is to get close to an enemy and press down to stick out his face.? If he touches an enemies while doing this, he'll do some damage. He can also extend up, if the enemy is above him.
Alternatively, Jerry can also collect balls to throw at enemies. Red balls are common, Iron balls are multi shot, but heavy, Jump balls improves his...jump... and Seed balls allows him to plant a quick growing vine that becomes a ladder....which...doesn't usually help much.

Anyway, there's collectable flags that spell his name, really hard to get items, blahblahblah ONTOGRAPHICS

Graphics:

Snes game standard "cutesy". Won't be breaking any records, but the moon was interesting.

Sound:
Music is good. You will never, ever, ever, EVER get some of these songs out of your head.

Sound effects range.

Addictiveness:
I'm playing the Japanese import version with a text hack to make the story English for the approximately 5th time.

Unfortunately, I'm weird and most likely don't set the standard. There really isn't a reason to play through the whole thing again once you've beaten it.

Story: Pretty good for a platformer. Much better then the import version

Depth: You're.... pretty much going from start to goal every time. Might beat up a? boss and talk to villagers, nothing complicated

Difficulty:
This is... interesting.

On the face of it, this game really isn't that hard. All a "game over" is is they make you start the level from the beginning.
At the same time, the game has moments where it cheats like a banshee, fire raining from the sky, Log jumps over rivers (where? slowing down almost makes the rest of the jumps impossible, and don't get me started on the piranhas.) , Spikes over bottomless pits, cannot get health if you have a none-red ball....

But other then that, it's pretty easy. Bosses are cakewalk if you "Leroy Jenkins" charge them at the right time or brought an Iron Ball, the final boss goes down in 3 hits, and lives are pretty plentiful.

......

The makeups:

Bonus points for the following actions the game has you do:

Ramming into the moon on a rocket, fighting a robot sand-alien, kill a giant, saw-fined fish twice (he comes back as a bone fish), the creative little creature who used a giant cardboard suit to make you think he's a mean shark, and the guy in the ice land who's wearing running shorts, slips on mud and flys high speed into a wall.

Little quirks about the game keep it high on my favorite lists, and now it has a story.

Thank you, Internet.

Overall I think you did a pretty good job with this review, I really liked the way you gave a very thorough summary introduction at the beginning of your review, although one thing I would recommend is maybe adding a little bit more detail to the graphics, sound, and other categories of the game review since there is usually a lot you can say about them, but it isn't that big of a deal. Also I find that bolding or underlining them like so really makes them stick out so they aren't difficult to find in the rest of your review, again, it isn't that big of a deal, and you can do this in your later reviews to make the categories stick out more.

Nice job on this review though, you had a lot of great details and you went into a lot of depth with summing up the game in general. It is obvious you put a lot of effort into this review. Keep up the great work and I look forward to reading your other reviews!
