Hello Everyone,

I know this may be off-topic to most threads that is on this website. But what does Ancient Greece and Rome have to deal with video games? As we can all see, there are a lot of influences in video games today. I think that Assassin's Creed may have some influences of this era, but I'm not sure as I have not personally played the game myself. Because there are a lot of influences from Ancient Greece and Rome, do you think that society has changed some of the concrete evidence to fit in with social norms? An example would be Disney's Hercules. We all know that there have been speculation over Hercules birth. In addition, Hercules is the Roman version of this hero and that Heracles is the Greek name. Moreover, the creation of Pegasus seems questionable as Poseidon is the lord of horses too. Let me know what you think

The Hercules movie is a very distorted interpretation of Greek myths. Like you said Pegasus had nothing at all to do with Hercules. Hercules was born from Zeus and a mortal woman, Hera didn't like it. She drove Hercules mad and made him kill his family. He then had to do all the trials (some shown in the movie) to make up for his murders. They really couldn't make that into a kids cartoon so I see why they did what they did. Or at least that is how I interpreted the stories.

Have you ever played Altered Beast? It is a great Beat em up with influences of Roman and Greek myths and with a really classic look to it.

I have actually never played that game before as I'm still new with this website and a beginner gamer. I'm just starting off with easy games. But what you said is pretty true about Heracles. Do you know any other movies that were distorted by Hollywood? I remember reading the five main books of the Percy Jackson series and it has integrated Greek culture into modern context. I don't know how much of that is true, but I was pretty upset with the way they have set the movie. I think the director of the second movie tried to make up from what the last director did for the first movie as there was a lot of key elements in which the first movie has missed.
