look, its not that gen 1 is better, i assume all gens are pretty well balanced in a way. but seriously, your saying EVERYTHING IN GEN 1 beat any pokemon we have now? it's more like gen 1 had MORE blunders on their part. voltorb and electrode are friggen pokeballs, like avgn says, you can't have the logo in your game, just on the cover. magnemite and diglett don't really evolve, they just become 3 of the same pokemon that make up one entire entity. and lickitung... OH GOD LICKITUNG. muk and grimer, at least trubbish and garbodor have some design put into it. and according to producers, ditto was made when a blob of ink splat on the page. NO SERIOUSLY. and to make your opinion less founded, most pokemon from the first two gens weren't even complete yet. gen 2 brought mainly evolve forms of gen 1 pokemon rather than these all new ones. heck, gen 3 was more original in the fact they stopped focusing so much on upgrading pokemon and making new ones, but everyone complained so on gen 4 half the pokemon were evolutions. i guess they ran out of pokemon to give forms to, cause ones like tangela and FRICKEN LICKITUNG got new forms. and i gueeeess lickylicky is a bit less annoying??? then gen 5 comes, they decide to go back to source materials, pretend they are making pokemon from scratch and no other pokemon came before then. everyone gets mad because of pokemon to similar to already existing ones and ice cream cones. well an ice cream cone is sure as hell more inventive than A POKEBALL WITH A FACE. and klink klang and klinkclang maaay be the same pokemon getting bigger, but noone complains about krabby and kingler, and again... SURE AS HELL BETTER THAN JUST MULTIPLYING FOR ITS EVOLUTION. the fans don't understand that to keep a series like pokemon and sonic going you need to change the games to not be the exact same thing over and over. otherwise the series wouldn't be able to keep alive for this long and kids today would'nt have it now. not like the games can be limited to 25 year old guys. so how about we just accept it and be glad we still have it today.

Opinions such as these are subjective. There is no solid way you can prove the GameBoy/GameBoy color games are better than the rest. Its simply your taste.

I personally enjoy the third gen the most, and I know a lot of people that preferred gen IV or even VI.

Pokemon 'never evolving' as a series is a part of a series that keeps it the way it is. It needs the majority of the elements it always had to remain iconic and established.

Of course change is good, but they really have changed Pokemon in a great deal of the areas that can be changed.

As rcarter2 put it, the heart needs to remain, but it can and should improve what it did wrong and give us a new experience that keeps us reminded of the old.

bobq : Are you kidding me? Gen 1 was by far the most unbalanced generation Psychic types like alakazam and hypno pretty much dominated the game especially since special attack and special defense was rolled into one stat.

To me it really seems that when people complain on originality it's the nostalgia talking. As for people complaining about pokemon designs being unoriginal I don't see it I just think that people like to hate on pokemon based on inanimate objects.

I mean people seem to forget that gen 1 also had bland designs like the trio pokemon (pokemon who's evolution were basically just 3 of the original pokemon rolled into one like dugtrio) and Muk which is basically just a big pile of sludge evolving from a smaller pile of sludge.

As for mega evolutions I liked them they gave a new twist on old pokemon my only real gripe is that there's alot of pokemon I would've liked to get one that didn't get one.

As for unoriginality in moves I really don't see what's unoriginal about them same thing for types I don't see what makes fairy an unoriginal type infact I would argue it's probably one of the more original types in the game.

I don't totally agree with you but I can see what you are saying. The first two generations of Pokemon seemed to have the most creative and interesting or overall neat Pokemon but there were some stinkers too. Pokemon you look at and say "what is that? What were they thinking?". Now, A LOT of the Pokemon after that was terrible just stupid but some of them are really cool. I have found quite a few new Pokemon that I think looks cool or is a good idea but I do see what you are saying because you are pretty much right about it.
