It seems pointless to form an opinion without knowing the details of her alleged 'abuse'.

Whatever they were, I haven't been able to find out after searching through several articles. 

Does anyone know?

To be honest, I think she is a spoiled brat. First of all, it's not her parents kicked her out onto the streets and refused to pay her tuition; she moved out of her volition because her parents didn't approve of her boyfriend. Secondly, the girl's over eighteen! Her parents don't have any legal obligation to pay her bills. Morally, mayhaps, because they ARE their parents, but the law doesn't always bend over backwards for ethics or peoples' opinions. To be honest, I wasn't even surprised when I heard of this lawsuit. There are so many ridiculous ones going around it's both tragic and hilarious at the same time. Personally, I found the twenty-somethings who sued their parents for no birthday gifts (only cards and cash, woe are we!) and for when the mom hit the boy on the head once when he was eight (I still have headaches and migraines!) to be funnier. That's all I find Rachel's case. Amusing and a sign of how spoiled some people can really be. She's not entitled to her parents' money.

On a side note, some are mentioning her alleged "abuse". Didn't she have a teacher testify about that? In that case, I have but two points to make:

1. If they're so abuse, WHY ARE YOU GOING BACK TO LIVE WITH THEM? That makes no sense.
2. If the teacher knew they were abusive, or had enough circumstantial evidence/suspicion to suspect that, she HAD to report it. Teachers have obligations UNDER THE LAW to report any incident of abuse they know of or suspect.
