Mortal Kombat is genius, and the second Mortal Kombat on the Super Nintendo is a particularly good entry in the series. The genius of the game is that it takes extreme violence and packages it in an entertaining bundle.  in so doing it pushes the limits of mainstream video game entertainment and the influence of this groundbreaking title can be felt to this day, perhaps a link can be made to the Grand Theft Auto series, although I'm going out on a limb on that whenwhen I am unsure weather this one came out before or after grand theft auto. But I digress, without further ado dot dot dot

graphics 9. The graphics in Mortal Kombat or one of its strongest traits. Based on real live actors, all the contestants in this tournament of blood are animated beautifully they look realistic and they behave realistic. Similarly the backgrounds are colorful.the fatalities are large and amazing and in some cases involve dragons that are animated well take up the whole screen and bite people in half.

sounds 10. The sound in Mortal Kombat is amazing primarily because there are tons of quality voice acting tidbits scattered throughout the game as each character vocalizes their aggressive and violent moves in such a way that you believe they are real live killing people. The soundtrack and sound effects are also top notch and the special effects deserve credit for adding gruesome realism to all the proceedings.

addiction 8. Mortal Kombat 2 is quite addictive. Let's leave it as a given that it has a two player mode widget invite friends to duke it out like all quality fighting games should. The special moves list is extensive, requiring lots of referencing that's cheap sheets or instruction magazines or whatever you young people use too quicklyfamiliar rise yourself of a game such as this one. The only problem with the games addictiveness is a more fundamental problem with its game designed specifically in comparison to its peers most notably the best fighting game ever Street Fighter series. But I will get into that more in a section other than addictive.


story 9. The store in Mortal Kombat is quite good. True to the fighting games genre, all the characters have a good back stories and reasons for fighting, but I feel the Mortal Kombat series goes above and beyond in terms of giving each character a more detailed story then you would expect. I won't give it to 10 however because the story of each character is presented in a minimalistic way. I would prefer to see some sort of graphical, perhaps a graphic novel presentation, but instead we just have to read about what each character has in terms of motivation and back story.

depth 7. The death section is as good a section has any to make some necessary disclosures about this review. I am A Street Fighter devoted fan and I believe Street Fighters the best fighting game franchise ever. In fact I have gotten angry when people dare to say that Mortal Kombat was in the same league as Street Fighter.  that having been said, enough distance has been established between myself and this ancient feud that I can see Mortal Kombat for the genius that it did offer. It cannot compete with Street Fighter 2 in terms of the complexity of giving each character a unique set of normal moves and unique play style.  Street Fighter did something even more amazing for gameplay and the history of video games generally then Mortal Kombat. That having been said, Mortal Kombat was never made to compete in this sphere.  Mortal Kombat shines in terms ofin terms of presentation,massively impressive graphics and sounds, and using this presentation to boldly presents the most hilariously over the top and violent video games ever to prove the points that people who whine about violent video games are idiots because its a heck of a lot of fun to tear your opponent in half.

difficulty 8. The difficulty of Mortal Kombat reminds me of a speech from Master Splinter. This is my favorite ninja turtle quotes not counting Raphael's quotes when he tells the Ninja Turtles enemy The Foot Clan while he is fighting an army of their ninjas one on army, that quote they must be studying the abridged book of ninja fighting and quotes. This speech in question is when Rafael storms out and is out all night because he is angry and when he gets back master Splinter's waiting up for him. Master Splinter Cell come sit by me NFL says couldn't this wait till morning and Master Splinter Cell is you will listen now! He continues my master Yoshi's first row was possessed to rate thinking then and only then can one who's ass the gift of strength knowledge in peace. I have tried to channel your anger FAL but more remains anger clouds the mind turned inward it is an uncomfortable enemy. You are unique among your brothers for you choose to face this Anna me alone. But as you face it do not forget them and do not forget me. I am here my son. So as you can tell, the challenge of this game can make you angry, but your friends and family are still there for you. Until they're not... At one point master Splinter's taken hostage and they must meditate to contact him and he says I am proud of you. Tonight you learn the final and greatest truth of the ninja, that ultimate mastery lies not in the body, but of the mind. Together there's nothing you're for mines cannot accomplish. Help each other drop on one another and always remember the true force that binds you the same as that which brought me here tonight, that which I gladly return with my final words, I love you all my sons. The other funny quote from that movie is win, at the end when Master Splinter Cell jess I have always liked cowabunga, and they alter Calabanga, he says I made a funny hahahahaha!if you read all of this, you will not find Mortal Kombat 2 unduly difficult, because you are a patient smart person, and not the person who would complain that my difficulty section is slightly irrelevant.

I would definitely recommend checking this title out if you haven't already, though it may be best enjoyed using netplay.  Bon appetite.
