Pokémon
Fire Red and Leaf Green:
Chapter Six: Master and Apprentice

       After six long tries, I
finally beat Brock and got the Boulder Badge. I was excited to tell Red, Blue
and Leaf about it, so I dashed the four blocks down to Nurse Joy to get Pikachu
all patched up. Nearly breathless, I paced through the automatic doors of the
Pokémon Center and plopped Pika down on the front counter. I tapped the little
bell.  Then, Nurse Joy came and Pikachu
was healed. “Thank you.” Pika hopped onto my shoulder, and we went downstairs
to the lobby. “Red, Leaf, Blue!” I said, beaming. Blue coughed. “Ahem.” I
remembered what he had told me earlier. “Excuse me, I meant ‘Master Blue’.” He
smirked. “That’s better.” Leaf, once again, nudged his shoulder, and Red just
face-palmed.  “Hey, Yellow.” he said.  “Look what I got!” I said, showing off my
Boulder Badge. “I beat Brock!” Then, everyone except for Blue clapped. He
didn’t appear impressed. Then, he shook his head. “You did beat him, but after
six tries. You obviously need some training.” Then, I thought. It was true. The
time I took in the Gym was enough for six battles. “Sorry, guys. I did only
have one Pokémon.” Blue frowned. “So did I! And Bulba did great! I beat Brock
even faster than Red, and he had two!” Red poked his shoulder. “I only used
Pidgey, though.” “Whatever. This pip-squeak, Yellow, here is still one heck of
a rookie. You begin training tomorrow morning. Understood?” I just made a
“seriously?” face. Then, he made a “seriously.” one.  I didn’t believe him, though. All of us
looked tired except for Leaf, who didn’t challenge the local Gym yet. “Well,
I’m beat.” I said, stretching my arms. “Where should we stay for the night?”
       Red, Blue and Leaf looked
at each other, and then turned to me. “Frankly…” said Blue. “We’re so tired
after all that battling that we could just fall asleep right here in the lobby
on these very chairs! Nurse Joy said she welcomed all travelling rookies for a
stay overnight when they have nowhere else to go.” Leaf got up. “Not me! I’m
still full of energy! And I’m going let it all out during the epic Gym Battle
I’m going to have, so see you guys later!” Red, Blue and I waved. “Later,
Leaf.” Then, she excitedly ran out of the Pokémon Center to her next challenge.
I turned to my friends. “As for me… I think I’m going to sleep in the little
forest we went through to get here tonight.” Red and Blue looked confused.
“Why?” “Well, until recently, I’ve been taking care of myself in Viridian Forest
for my whole life. I’m more comfortable dealing with those sorts of things.”
They exchanged puzzled looks. “Okay… See you, later.” Then, I walked out with
Pika on my shoulder, as usual. I strolled along to the forest that the four of
us went through to get to the city in the first place. I found a little tree
next to a rocky terrain and decided that it was a good place to spend the
night. Then, I used my long, sleeveless, orange shirt above the long-sleeved
black one as a blanket. Pikachu hopped onto my back and took a comfy position.
“Night, Pika.” Pika wiggled his hear. “Pikachu!” It yawned. Then, we dozed off.
       A loud “YELLOW!” followed
by a huge kick on the back shot me straight up the next morning. “Ouch!” I
yelled, clutching my hat in case it fell off, exposing my ponytail and true
identity. “Who do you think you – oh, dear…” I found an impatient Blue tapping
his foot on the ground and crossing his arms. “It’s almost noon! I told you
that your training would begin at dawn! Lazy, arrogant…” I got I got up and
dusted my jeans. “You were serious?” I said, mockingly, knowing I was going to
regret it. “You bet I was. And I still am! Come with me, we’re already late!”
He grabbed my arm and dragged me over to the rocky terrain next to the tree I
was sleeping under. “Now,” he started. “Send out your Pikachu.” I looked at
Pika, who was on my shoulder, then up to Blue. “He’s already out, Blue…” He
frowned. “Are you being smart with me, young man?” I knew this was mean, but I
had to say it. “Yep.” He walked closer to me, making a fist and rising higher.
“I- I meant no! N-no! I’m not being smart with you!” Then he lowered his arm.
“Yellow, you’re a youngster, but bear with me, okay?” he said, annoyed. “I
meant, get Pikachu ready for battle.” I scratched my head. “O-oh! Alright,
Pika, go!” Pika walked forward. “Pikachu!” it said, emitting sparks from its
bright red cheeks. Blue sent out his Geodude. He had finally caught a new
Pokémon. “Geodude!” he shouted. “Use rollout on the mountain!” Geodude nodded.
“Geo….DUDE!!!” It shouted, as it was rolling towards the rocky mountain. Then –
Bam! Rocks of all shapes and sizes were sent rolling down the hill towards
Pikachu. I was surprised. “Blue? What are you doing?” Blue looked at me.
“Testing its speed. Let’s see how fast it can dodge.”
       I worriedly turned back to
Pikachu. To my surprise, it was quicker than I thought. Pika was elegantly
dodging the rocks. “Whoa...” said Blue. “I expected less from a Pikachu who has
a pathetic excuse for a Trainer. It’s doing great!” I paused. Blue was lucky I
didn’t deliver a blow to his jaw, because I decided he wasn’t worth it. I was
lucky, too, because I was pretty sure that he would return the favor – with
even more gratitude.
After a really long time, the last of the
rocks and boulders made their way down the hill, and Pika dodged them, of
course. Blue’s Geodude stopped, extremely exhausted, and then Blue called it
back. “Great job, Geo. Return.” Pika, cheerful as ever, hopped up onto my
shoulder, with it big, brown eyes getting drowsy. “Aw…” I said, poking Pika.
“Are you getting sleepy?” Pikachu nodded. Then, using my orange “blanket” once
more, I tucked Pika in. “Sweet dreams.” Then, he fell asleep. “Uh…Yellow?”
asked Blue. I froze. I completely forgot about his existence. “What was that?”
I put my arm behind my head. “I was putting Pika to sleep.” Blue rolled his
eyes. “I guess that’s enough training for today. After all you are a rookie.
See you.” I waved. Then, he stopped and turned his head. “And, Yellow?” I looked
at him and gulped. “Yeah?” “Try to man up, okay?” Then he scoffed and walked
away. Looked like my disguise was failing me. I had to change my attitude.

Note: I'm sorry this ended up in the Fan Fiction section! I'm pretty sure I selected the Story subcategory while making this, but I'm not sure what went wrong .
