Brigand : So am I. I agree with you. Some products just aren't worth testing because they aren't necessary to live a full life. I know people say they'd die without makeup, but they'll live. They might be unhappy, but they'll live. Cancer, on the other hand, takes hundreds if not thousands of lives every year (forgive me for not knowing the full statistics).

Animal testing, is it good or bad?, well in my opinion animal testing is good, because it allows companies to test certain products on animals before it is used on humans, like for example certain vaccines for diseases are tested out on animals before they are tested on humans so that way scientist  or research specialists can determine if the vaccine works before allowing humans to consume or use it.

Now the bad side of animal testing. In some cases I can see where animal testing is rather pointless and unethical. For instance testing makeup on animals is a little unethical because you could just list the ingredients of the makeup on the product box and then its up to the consumer to read the ingredients listed on the box to tell if they are allergic to an ingredient or not, plus there shouldn't be harmful chemicals used in makeup anyways.

I would say that animal testing is good. Although there are much better options probably. But testing something on an animal won't endanger anyone's life. So if the animal is okay, people will be too. But there needs to be lots of rules about it, and surprise inspections. Because not all labs treat their animals nicely. And I like animals, so I get pretty mad when I see, or hear about someone abusing them.

I wonder what the character limit on this thing is.

Honestly.. I think that is somewhat good and somewhat bad. The good part is yeah it may have helped us in some way.. but I just hate the thought of animals being tested on in the weirdest ways to.. I love animals.. and it seems to me more like harm than anything. Although it may help us with things.. it is so horrible in my mind.

This opinion might seem stupid, but I think that instead of testing on animals first, product testers should just start with the human testing straight away. (Unless, of course, the product was meant for an animal...) It would save many years of testing, and there are plenty of cures for human diseases if anything goes wrong. Even if someone does die, it doesn't matter all that much in my opinion: The human population is way too high anyway. It would matter to a person who loves that person, of course, but think of that from the animals' points of view - animals have friends and families too! We just don't realize it, obviously.
But that's just my way of looking at it, of course.

Personally, I value human life above animals. Testing needs to be done so I think it's better to endanger a rats life than a humans. That being said. I still think effort should be made so that the animal suffers as little as possible. You don't need to torment an animal in order to test a drug on it.

FullmetalFan870 : Rats are disease ridden vermin so no one cares about them, what people (well me at least) care about is it being put on animals like dogs and also it being cruel to animals but because it isn't human somehow it doesn't matter to them.

UFC : I never said that animal lives don't matter but that I value human life more. My opinion is that it is something that simply needs to be done, but it should be done as painless as possible regardless of what animal it is.

FullmetalFan870 : I meant animal testers when I said people who don't care, do we really need to test stuff on animals? if anything I'd rather test on rats and human undesirables (but still no pain)

I know others won't agree with me, but I feel that if humans are testing things to better a HUMAN life, then perhaps the experiments should be tested on humans. The animals they test things on, medicinal or otherwise, will never give 100% proof that a cure will work on a human. It's possible that, even after putting the animals through many experiments, that they cure the animal....but it doesn't work on a human, or has side effects. I truly feel that we have no right to judge whose life is worth more or less and that every life is important, even if it is a mouse.
